Courtney & Anglin: Here’s your chance to help YANA and WIN!
Here’s a sweet way to help out YANA, get your chocolate fix, and maybe win thousands of dollars in prizes!
Black Press Media’s Impress Real Estate TV hosts Bill Anglin and Michele Courtney of the Courtney and Anglin Real Estate Group are once again title sponsors of this year’s Valley Vonka YANA fundraiser.
YANA is a Comox Valley non-profit society that raises funds for accommodations and provides funding to people who have to travel from the area for their children to get health care.
Starting in the first week of April, there will be 2,000 special chocolate bars available in the community at participating merchants. There are no set price on the bars, donations requested but not required, but if they’re sold for $5 each, organizers will easily hit their $10,000 fundraising goal.
“If we all give a little, YANA gets a lot,” Bill says.
Here’s the rundown on prizes: Five of the chocolate bars have golden tickets for prizes range from $700 to $3,500 in value, and simply put, they’re great!
You could win a family pass to Mount Washington, a family spa day at the the Old House Resort and Spa followed by dinner at Locals, a family getaway to Black Rock, a $1,000 gift certificate to the KingFisher resort or a year-long VIP pass for two at Landmark Cinema.
Check out the Comox Valley Record to see where you can purchase the chocolate bars!

Edmonton to Vancouver || Abandoned || Adventure Vlog
My wife and I were able to make a very quick trip from Edmonton to Vancouver and back again in a little less than 48 hours. We travelled some 2,000 + km in that time. Not the most I've driven in two days but it was still quite the trek. Enjoy the beautiful scenery and the abandoned motel and restaurant we found.
Not my best work. It's safe to say this will be my first and final foray into Sony Vegas, sorry the audio is all over the place in this one.

Hey, welcome back to moviequips highlights. I'm Stephen Bourne and here are your new movie highlights for February 5th to the 11th:
First up, 45 YEARS is a British drama from writer-director Andrew Haigh, adapted from author David Constantine's 2015 short story, In Another Country. Charlotte Rampling and Tom Courtenay star as an aged couple whose long-time marriage is rattled by a grim accident dredged up from the past. Rampling's performance earned her a Best Actress Oscar nomination this year, and 45 Years debuts here at Ottawa's ByTowne Cinema.
THE CHOICE is an American romance from director Ross Katz, based on the 2007 novel of the same name by prolific author Nicholas Sparks. The film traces the lives of a young couple from love-at-first-sight as neighbours to an agonizing medical crisis that challenges their marriage. The Choice stars Teresa Palmer and Benjamin Walker, and screens at all Landmark Cinemas and most Cineplex Cinemas here in Ottawa.
Next up, HAIL, CAESAR! is a comedy from four-time Oscar-winning duo Joel and Ethan Coen that pokes fun at 1950s Hollywood. The kidnapping of an epic movie's famous star during production is just one more crisis in the disaster- and scandal-riddled life of a Tinseltown studio. Hail, Caesar!'s all-star cast includes Josh Brolin, George Clooney and Scarlett Johansson, and screens here at most Cineplex and all Landmark Cinemas.
THE MONKEY KING 2 is an action-adventure from China directed by Cheang Pou-soi, adapted from 16th century author Wu Cheng'en's Buddhist classic, Journey To The West. Continuing from the 2014 film, The Monkey King, Aaron Kwok reprises his title role to help protect a traveling monk against unbridled evil. The Monkey King 2 debuts here with English subtitles at Cineplex SilverCity Gloucester.
NINTH FLOOR is a 2015 Canadian documentary from acclaimed director Mina Shum, about our nation's largest student-occupied campus protest. Through interviews and archival footage, Shum revisits the Montreal protest of 1969 that was sparked by allegations of racism and was ended by riot police. This one day only debut of Ninth Floor at the Ottawa Public Library's main branch is presented by the Network of Black Business & Professional Women.
And lastly, PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES is a period actioner written and directed by Burr Steers, based on American author Seth Grahame-Smith's 2009 novel of the same name. Loosely inspired by Jane Austen's 1813 romance, Lily James stars as a sword-fighting Elizabeth Bennet in plaque-ravaged England who joins forces with a dashing zombie slayer. Pride And Prejudice And Zombies screens at all Cineplex and Landmark Cinemas here in Ottawa.
That's your handful of moviequips highlights for this week. As always, thanks for tuning in. Find more screening info for these and the other new movies playing in town at moviequips.ca. Click on the like button and subscribe to this channel, follow moviequips on social media, and check back soon.

SUMMARY
=======
A dynasty (UK: , US: ) is a sequence of rulers from the same family, usually in the context of a feudal or monarchical system, but sometimes also appearing in elective republics. The dynastic family or lineage may be known as a noble house, which may be styled as royal, princely, ducal, comital, etc., depending upon the chief or present title borne by its members. Historians periodize the histories of many sovereign states, such as Ancient Egypt, the Carolingian Empire and Imperial China, using a framework of successive dynasties. As such, the term dynasty may be used to delimit the era during which the family reigned and to describe events, trends, and artifacts of that period (a Ming-dynasty vase). The word dynasty itself is often dropped from such adjectival references (a Ming vase).
Until the 19th century, it was taken for granted that a legitimate function of a monarch was to aggrandize his dynasty: that is, to increase the territory, wealth, and power of his family members. The longest-surviving dynasty in the world is the Imperial House of Japan, otherwise known as the Yamato dynasty, whose reign is traditionally dated to 660 BC.
Prior to the 20th century, dynasties throughout the world have traditionally been reckoned patrilineally, such as under the Frankish Salic law. In nations where it was permitted, succession through a daughter usually established a new dynasty in her husband's ruling house. This has changed in some places in Europe, where succession law and convention have maintained dynasties de jure through a female. For example, the House of Windsor is maintained through the children of Queen Elizabeth II, similarly with the monarchy of the Netherlands, whose dynasty remained the House of Orange-Nassau through three successive queens regnant. The earliest such example among the major European monarchies was in Russia in the 18th century, where the name of the House of Romanov was maintained through a non-ruling female.
In South Africa's Limpopo Province, Balobedu determined descent matrilineally, while rulers have at other times adopted the name of their mother's dynasty when coming into her inheritance. Less frequently, a monarchy has alternated or been rotated, in a multidynastic (or polydynastic) system – that is, the most senior living members of parallel dynasties, at any point in time, constitute the line of succession.
The word dynasty is sometimes used informally for people who are not rulers but are, for example, members of a family with influence and power in other areas, such as a series of successive owners of a major company. It is also extended to unrelated people, such as major poets of the same school or various rosters of a single sports team.
