Czech Republic: Xi Jinping greeted by Czech Pres. Zeman at Lany chateau
Chinese President Xi Jinping was welcomed by the Czech President Milos Zeman upon his arrival at the Lany chateau, west of Prague, on Monday, March 28.
Xi Jinping arrived in Czech Republic to discuss China-Czech Republic relationship and the ‘One Belt, One Road’ project with Czech President Milos Zeman. This will be the first time a Chinese leader has visited the Czech Republic in an official visit. Xi Jinping and Milos Zeman are expected to discuss a wide range of issues including bilateral relations between China and the Czech Republic and the finalisation of around 20 agreements between both nations, concerning trade cooperation, aviation, finance, technology and culture.

Lány is a village in the Czech Republic. It’s about 30 kilometers away from Prague’s city center. The castle of Lány was first mentioned in 1392. It has changed owners many times. In 1921, it was purchased by the Czechoslovak state and designated as an official summer presidential residence. It has been a place of many official sessions between the Czech President and other top politicians. Chinese president Xijinping will be the first head of state to be invited into the Castle.

Chinese President Xi Jinping is due to meet Czech President Milos Zeman at the Lany chateau, west of Prague on Monday, March 28, during his first tour to a central or eastern European country.
Xi Jinping and Milos Zeman are expected to discuss a wide range of issues including bilateral relations between China and the Czech Republic and the finalization of around 20 agreements between both nations, concerning trade cooperation, aviation, finance, technology and culture.
Xi Jinping will also take part in the planting of a tree near the presidential chateau in Lany as well as visit the Strahov Monastery in Prague, during his two-day visit to the country .

Lány je obec v České republice, 35 km západně od Prahy, ve Středočeském kraji, mimo hlavní silnici směrem na Karlovy Vary. Má 2196 obyvatel. Jeho hlavní dominantou je zámek, sloužící jako letní sídlo československých a později českých prezidentů. K dispozici je také muzeum sportovních aut a muzeum T. G. Masaryka, prvního prezidenta Československa. Prezident Masaryk i jeho manželka jsou pohřbeni na místním hřbitově.
Lány is a village in the Czech Republic, 35 km (22 mi) west of Prague, in Central Bohemian Region, outside the main road towards Karlovy Vary. It has 2196 inhabitants. Its major landmark is a castle, serving as a summer residence of Czechoslovak and later Czech Presidents. There is also a sports car museum and Museum of T. G. Masaryk, the first President of Czechoslovakia. Both President Masaryk and his wife are buried in the local cemetery.

Update: Chinese President Attends Welcome Ceremony Held by Czech Counterpart in Prague
Chinese President Xi Jinping attended a welcome ceremony held by Czech President Milos Zeman in Prague on Tuesday during his historical visit to the country.
Xi arrived at the Presidential palace at around 10:00, and Zeman welcomed Xi in front of the military band.
The band played the national anthems of the two countries and fired a salute of 21 guns.
Accompanied by Zeman, Xi reviewed the guard of honor, which is composed of Czech army and the security forces of the Presidential palace.
Xi started a three-day state visit to the Czech Republic on Monday, the first state visit by a Chinese president in 67 years since the two countries established diplomatic ties.
On Monday, Xi met with Zeman at the Lany presidential chateau in central Bohemia. After taking a stroll in the garden of the Czech president's summer residence, Xi had an in-depth discussion with Zeman.
During their two-hour meeting, the two leaders discussed bilateral ties and how Prague can help strengthen Beijing's relations with both the European Union and the Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) region.

Czech Republic: Hundreds protest Xi Jinping's visit to Prague
Hundreds gathered in Prague on Thursday to protest an official state visit by Chinese President Xi Jinping to the Czech Republic. The protest started at Kampa Island in central Prague, with protesters waving flags of Taiwan and Tibet while shouting Free Tibet and displaying images of former Czech president Vaclav Havel and the Dalai Lama.
