Stuck in the Middle With You - Shoulder Narrows
November 11, 2017 at the Latchis Theater, Brattleboro, Vermont. Shoulder Narrows, an a cappella group who are all students at Brattleboro Union High School, perform Stuck In the Middle With You. This was originally written and recorded by the Scottish folk-rock band Stealer’s Wheel in 1972 as a laid-back groove song. The song was adapted in 1997 by comedy-a cappella group Da Vinci’s Notebook, who added elements of doo-wop, funk, and a few special ingredients. Shoulder Narrows has taken this transformation one step further with their version of the song, ramping things up to breakneck speed and embellishing some pop-music interpolations. This is part of the By the People For the People - a Celebration of Community & Song concert, a benefit for the Guilford (VT) Community Church, UCC. • • Filmed by Michael Hanish and recorded by Al Stockwell

There is, however, a lot more to this region than maple syrup and fall foliage. A region with great history, southern Vermont has hosted revolutionary war battles, enjoyed economic boom times during the industrial revolution, and is now looking for its place in the 21st century.
Connecting Point executive producer Tony Dunne and videographer Mark Langevin bring us an overview of the people and issues that drive the rural communities and urban centers which make up this picturesque region, to find out what life is like in this part of the Green Mountain state.
