Laurel Creek Bechtel Park Trail Summer, Waterloo Canada
Pennsylvania-German settler Jacob Wissler's 1805 lands were annexed by Waterloo in 1960; 40 hectare. Bechtel Park includes the Laurel Creek wetlands. The Grand River receives the creek at nearby Bridgeport. The park's name honours other 1800 pioneers, George and Abraham Bechtel. The forest and waterstream landscapes and floral close-ups are accompanied by musician Niels Eje performing his ethereal composition Stars. Excerpts from Max Ehrmann's poem Desiderata bookend the photographs.

Laurel Creek Bechtel Park Fall Paths, Waterloo Canada
Kevin MacLeod’s piano instrumental “White” accompanies this mid-autumn walk along one of the Informal trails following Laurel Creek from Waterloo’s Bechtel Park toward Kitchener’s Bridgeport vicinity. A one-time millpond on the creek and a spring creek tributary near today’s Springdale Green provided water power for a tannery.

Happiness Trail Amid New Snow, Laurel Creek Waterloo Ontario
Located on the edge of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, the Laurel Creek Conservation Area (1971), intially developed by the Grand River Conservation Authority to control periodic flooding in Waterloo, also provides important functions as a wildlife habitat, recreation, and nature education. This slide show, presenting the Nature Centre in a late-December afternoon approaching dusk, features Laurel Creek and foliage close-ups. The trail taken passes through mature hardwoods, a coniferous plantation, and a tall grass meadow. Pianist-composer David Lanz's Cristofori's Dream evokes a mood of gently falling snow. Quotes by the Dalai Lama and Jim Rohn provide philosophical bookends for the theme of happiness.
