NEWLY RESTORED HISTORIC SIQUIJOR CHURCH | Lazi Church
The San Isidro Labrador Parish Church (Spanish: Iglesia Parroquial de San Isidro Labrador), commonly known as Lazi Church, is a Roman Catholic church in the municipality of Lazi, Siquijor, Philippines within the jurisdiction of the Diocese of Dumaguete. It became an independent parish in 1857 under the advocacy of Saint Isidore the Laborer
The church, also known for its huge convent, was declared a National Cultural Treasure by the National Museum of the Philippines. It is also nominated for the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List since 2006 under the collective group of Baroque Churches of the Philippines (Extension) together with the churches of Boljoon, Guiuan, Loboc and Tumauini. In 2014, the government announced its plan to nominate Lazi Church in the World Heritage List. It conducted a dossier training for Lazi representatives. Once the dossiers are completed, the long process of nomination will commence in Paris.

Lazi Church {Simbahan na Bato) : the Oldest Church is Siquijor
Lazi Church is one of the oldest churches in the island of Siquijor and right beside it is an equally old and silent convent. Also known as the San Isidro Labrador Parish, the church was built in stone and hardwood by Filipino artisans in 1884 and the church bell a year after. The church and it's convent are reminiscent of the old Spanish settlement in the province.

Siquijor guide! Black magic, waterfall and Lazi Church
One day to explore Siquijor on a scooter for us was actually enough. We started off with a famous enchanted Balete (supposedly) 400-year-old tree. Locals believe that the tree has magic properties, that is why some rituals are held from time to time near the tree. The Balete tree belongs to the family of fig trees (from the genus Ficus). There are several species, about 10 of 800 are found in the Philippines. The Balete tree is also known as the banyan in other parts of the world.
Let's jump back on a scooter and head out to the waterfalls, Cambugahay waterfalls to be exact. Nothing to say, just watch the video, they are amazing!
Next stop is Lazi Church and Monastery (which is used right now as a school). Though right now the name is different The San Isidro Labrador Parish and Convent in Lazi. Lovely place to explore, not too many tourists and this place is nominated to be a UNESCO Heritage site. Lazi (formerly Tigbawan) became an independent parish from Siquijor on August 8, 1857. The present stone church was built in 1884 by Filipino artisans followed by the bell tower in the following year.[1] The construction of the convent was made with coral stones and hardwood, commenced in 1887 and completed in 1891. Both the church and the convent were done under the direction of Recollect priest Father Toribio Sánchez.
At last, let us say goodbye to Siquijor and head to Dumaguete on a speed boat surrounded by huge waves! See you in Boracay!
Enjoy and stay safe guys!
