Leamaneh Castle - County Clare - Ireland

Description
Leamaneh Castle
A walk through one of Ireland's most haunted sites, Lemaneh Castle in Co.Clare
Free to explore :)
Leamaneh Castle Ireland is it Haunted?
We Try and see if Leamaneh Castle is haunted. This old building has a lot of Dark History..
Leamaneh Castle 13th-15th Century Great Site!
Built by an Irish family attached to an old tower located at the Burren, Ireland.
The tower on the right was built around the 1480 - 1490 period.
The Manor house was built much later in the 17th Century. Currently in a ruined state. The name Leamaneh means Horse Leap in Irish. The tower was probably built by the O Brien family who were the last kings of Ireland and direct descendants of Brian Boru who harp is depicted on all Irish coins apart from one.
The manor house was built in 1648 with part of the tower house demolished to make way for the fortified house.
Conor O Brien who was Donoughs grandson married Maire Macmahon who would become the most famous woman in Irish folklore. She was more commonly known as Red Mary due to her Red hair.
Her first husband died and left a her an estate and a small fortune of £1000. She and Conor built the manor with the funds.
She would often accompany her husband on raids against English settlers and in 1651 Conor was mortally wounded fighting Cromwells armies who were on a conquest of Ireland at that stage.
She realised that after her husbands death that she could loose all her land as her husband had been fighting the English so she decided to head to Limerick and marry a Cromwellian soldier to ensure her fortune was safe.
She married a cromwell solder by the name of John Cooper who late ran up huge debts and the manor house was mortgaged to pay them off.
The family seat was moved to Domoland Castle and Leamaneh fell into ruin at the end of the 18th century. The barbican gates which adorned the entrance had been removed to Dromoland castle and now just the manor house is all that remains of the once grand manor house in the area. Even the fire places were removed and are now found at the Ground hotel in Ennis.
The site is not maintained and is on private land. We were lucky that visitors can now access the site as there is no fence around the structure however this may not last. So visit as soon as you can.

Jahrhundert
In der langen Geschichte gehörte Leamaneh Castle verschiedenen Besitzern.
Das Gebäude verfiel leider zum Ende des 18. Jahrhunderts.

Ballinalacken Castle and Hotel
On our trip to Ireland and the Cliffs of Moher, we stayed at this hotel with the castle behind it. The owner even guided us through a tour of the castle the night we arrived. Before we checked out, the weather cleared enough to get a short flight in. This location is about a 15 min drive from the cliffs, and you can even see them in some of the footage.
