Macau: Walks Through Time (Pt.1)
UNESCO World Heritage trail
Lucky Seven takes us on a walk through time and shows us just how easy it is to stroll from one UNESCO World Heritage site in Macao to another. First on her itinerary is the A-Ma Temple, followed by a short walk up to the Moorish Barracks and onto Lilau Square, before finally taking a break in Senado Square. Macau's Historic Centre is one of the most popular attractions, but with 25 sites on the list, you might want to plan your time and measure your pace before stepping back some 500 years.

Historic Center of Macau, China in 4K (Ultra HD)
Macau (Macao) is a special administrative region of China, former Portuguese oversees territory (until 1999). Macau is inscribed on the UNESCO WORLD Heritage list, quote: Macao, a lucrative port of strategic importance in the development of international trade, was under Portuguese administration from the mid-16th century until 1999, when it came under Chinese sovereignty. With its historic street, residential, religious and public Portuguese and Chinese buildings, the historic centre of Macao provides a unique testimony to the meeting of aesthetic, cultural, architectural and technological influences from East and West. The site also contains a fortress and a lighthouse, the oldest in China. It bears witness to one of the earliest and longest-lasting encounters between China and the West, based on the vibrancy of international trade.

This area corresponds to one of the first Portuguese residential quarters in Macau.

The Intersection of Chinese and Western Culture · Macao
Macao is located on the southeast coast of the mainland of China. It has been the intersection of Chinese and Western culture for the past four hundred years. The details and patterns of the old buildings reveal the essence of cultural fusion. Especially in the historic district, the old buildings, which have survived and still stand there lively, are the mysteries of the continuation of the life of Macao's cultural heritage.
Macao's area is not large, only 29.2 square kilometers, and is Hong Kong's 1/40; but this tiny area attracts visitors around the world, some for its delicacy snacks, some for its old buildings, some for its holy churches, and some for its extravagant life.
Talking about traveling in Macao, it can be divided into four regions: the East, the South, the North, the West and the center.
In those districts, there are Songshan Fort, Guia Fortress, Guia Lighthouse, Flora Garden, Grand Prix Museum, Wine Museum, and Fisherman's Wharf in the East; St Augustine's Church, Dom Pedro V Theater, Lilau Square, A-Ma Temple, Maritime Museum, Penha Hill, and Macao Tower in the South; Puji Temple, Lin Zexu Memorial Hall, and Mong Ha Hill in the North; Ruins of St Paul's., Monte Fortress, Macao Museum, St. Dominic's Church, Holy House of Mercy, Senado Square, Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro, Camoes Square, Christian cemetery, and several casinos and hotels such as Grand Lisboa Hotel, L'Arc Hotel, and Wynn Hotel in the West and Central District.

Taking the Water Jet to Macau
Macau or Macao was controlled by the Portuguese for over 400 years until it was transferred back to China in 1999. Macau is located in the southern part of China on the western side of the Pearl River delta.
The easiest way to get there from Hong Kong would be to take one of the many Water Jets. It takes approximately one hour to get there.
Gambling is a big business in Macau. It is many times bigger than Las Vegas. The entire area is filled with casinos. Macau also have plenty of old historic buildings. Things to see: Ruins of St Paul, Senado Square, Lilau Square, Guia Fortress, A-Ma temple. The oldest one is the A-Ma temple from 1488.

Macau World Heritage 'Leal Senado' Building
Originally built in 1784, this was Macau's first municipal chamber, a function it maintains to the present. The name Leal Senado (Loyal Senate) derives from the title City of Our Name of God Macau, There is None More Loyal which was bestowed by Portuguese King Dom John IV in 1654. The Leal Senado Building is neo-classical in design and has retained all its original master walls and primary layout, including the courtyard garden in the back. Inside the building on the first floor there is a ceremonial meeting room that opens onto an elaborate carved library styled after the library of Mafra Convent in Portugal, and a small chapel.
