GUADALAJARA - A City Tour!!
Are you wondering what it's like in Guadalajara? We took a Guadalajara tour on a double-decker bus to Tonala, Tlaquepaque, back to Guadalajara, and finally to Zapopan.

We had an amazing time exploring on this bus tour, Guadalajara and the surrounding cities. We spent the entire day these beautiful cities. Sure, we 100% looked like Guadalajara tourists, but that’s okay. We got to see the art in Tlaquepaque, the old buildings of Guadalajara, the street vendors in Tonala, and El Centro in Zapopan.
We ate some amazing food in Tlaquepaque, saw so many sights of Guadalajara, bought street food in Tonala, and explored so much of Guadalajara. We highly recommend doing the Tapatio Tour.
After making this video, we made TONS of other videos in Guadalajara. You can watch them all in this playlist:

Guadalajara
Guadalajara is the capital and largest city of the Mexican state of Jalisco, and the seat of the municipality of Guadalajara. The city is located in the central region of Jalisco in the Western-Pacific area of Mexico. With a population of 1,495,189 it is Mexico's fourth most populous municipality. The Guadalajara Metropolitan Area includes seven adjacent municipalities with a reported population of 4,328,584 in 2009, making it the second most populous metropolitan area in Mexico, behind Mexico City. The municipality is the second most densely populated one in Mexico; the first being Ciudad Nezahualcóyotl in State of Mexico.
Guadalajara is the 10th largest city in Latin America in terms of population, urban area and gross domestic product. The city is named after the Spanish city of Guadalajara, the name of which came from the Andalusian Arabic wād(i) l-ḥijāra, meaning river/valley of stones. The city's economy is based on industry, especially information technology, with a large number of international firms having manufacturing facilities in the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area. Other, more traditional industries, such as shoes, textiles and food processing are also important contributing factors.

Finding a Rental House in Guadalajara
We found a 3 bedroom, 3 bath rental home in Guadalajara and moved in! We learned some lessons along the way about renting in Mexico and have a story to share about our personal experience with home security at the end of this video.
Our search took about 6 weeks since we were not in a hurry and spent time getting to know the areas while staying in Airbnbs. We decided to focus on the West side of Guadalajara and Zapopan with our budget of 10k-20k pesos ($500 - $1,000 USD depending on the current exchange rate). However, there is less expensive housing in other areas of Metropolitan Guadalajara and much higher housing prices in the affluent Puerta de Hierro area.
Take a look at our footage of the types of rental homes available, interior videos and street views of the neighborhoods in Ciudad del Sol, Chapalita, Americana, Providencia, La Cima and Estancia. We share our own personal impressions, experiences and tips on searching for a rental home in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Stay tuned for our next video about the steps to obtaining our temporary residency visa. We’re going to breakdown the entire process.
We’re excited to have a home base now to start our travels seeking paradise. Like and subscribe so you don’t miss our adventures.
Thank you to all our local friends for your advice, recommendations, time and most importantly your friendship!

TEQUILA TOUR + Tequila Tasting in Tequila, Mexico ????????
We only had one day to spend in Tequila, Mexico so, OF COURSE, we went on a tour of the Jose Cuervo Tequila Factory!!! This has been our favorite day in Mexico - HANDS DOWN! We started with a tour of the factory and, with our amazing guide, we learned what makes a great Tequila. After our tour, we had a small private tasting with a few other guests and learned the proper way to taste and drink tequila. It was an awesome day and we only wish we had more time to spend in this charming city.

(And, of course we know Mexico is in the Americas, however Americans is also a common name used to describe people from the United States of America. Just as Mexicans is a common name used to describe people from United Mexican States. Calling ourselves U.S. Citizens doesn't flow off the tongue as well and simply isn't the name we call ourselves. Plus, the title works well as click bait... ;-) It got you to watch!)

For more than 25 years, Projects Abroad has been the industry leader for overseas internships, gap years, and volunteer projects.
Projects Abroad works with local NGO's in many of our destinations to help reach vulnerable members of the local community. Every so often, all of the volunteers and staff come together to take on small projects that are of importance to the community.
Mama A.C., is a Guadalajara-based foundation aimed at providing meals, education, and support for vulnerable community members living in downtown Guadalajara. They reach thousands of individuals each month with community soup kitchens and educational courses for children and adults.
Volunteers and interns with Projects Abroad work alongside local professionals to gain valuable hands-on experience while making a difference in the communities where they work. Our projects are long-term, sustainable efforts designed to accommodate volunteers and interns while having a positive impact on the local community, whether volunteers are able to dedicate two weeks, two months, or longer.
By joining one of our projects, volunteers and interns become a part of a global community dedicated to positive change, sustainable practices, and education. Our world-wide network of trained staff is always available to ensure that volunteers and interns get the most out of their experience overseas while making a meaningful contribution to local communities.
