The Lotus Square or Golden Lotus Square (Chinese: 金蓮花廣場; Portuguese: A Praça Flor de Lodão) is an open square across from Grand Prix Museum in Macau Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China. The area features the large bronze sculpture Lotus Flower In Full Bloom (Chinese: 盛世蓮花) and is somewhat akin to the Golden Bauhinia of neighbouring Hong Kong.
The lotus flower in full bloom symbolises the everlasting prosperity of Macau. The sculpture was presented by the State Council of the People's Republic of China in 1999 to mark the Macau sovereignty transfer from Portugal to the PRC.

STORYLINE:
Macau raised its green flag into the air on Monday in a special ceremony that kicked off a daylong celebration of the former Portuguese colony's fifth anniversary under China's rule.
The flag, decorated with a white lotus, was raised along with China's red flag as the Chinese national anthem played.
Macau officials, including Edmund Ho, the Chief Executive of Macau's government, and China's top envoys to the territory were present for the ceremony.
Chinese President Hu Jintao arrived on Sunday for the festivities. He is expected to give a speech later on Monday that might touch on Taiwan - the self-ruled island China is pressuring to follow Macau's lead and unify with the mainland.
After stepping off his plane on Sunday, Hu proclaimed that Macau has been thriving since the gambling enclave of about 450-thousand people rejoined China on December 20, 1999.
Macau has seen a drop in the violence - mostly shootouts between gangsters fighting turf wars over casinos - that once scared away tourists.
The economy has recorded double-digit economic growth in the past five years.
Cheering crowds gathered in the streets on Sunday to get a peek at Hu as he toured Macau - a peninsula and two islands in the Pearl River delta in southern China.
During his two-day visit, Hu is expected to meet with Tung Chee-hwa, the leader of neighbouring Hong Kong - a former British colony that returned to China more than seven years ago.
Macau is only 60 kilometres (40 miles) west of Hong Kong.
Like Hong Kong, Macau returned to Chinese rule under a one country, two systems formula - designed to give the territory a wide degree of autonomy.
