The Australian Botanic Gardens Shepparton uses Australian native plants in themed gardens designed to represent the cultural, environmental, historical and agricultural characteristics of Greater Shepparton and the Goulburn Valley.
The garden designs depict the story of change. The garden themes follow a timeline and are revealed to visitors as they walk along the pathways. Each themed garden, many still to be constructed, is described in this section, and also shown on the Master Plan.
The site consists of native grassy bushland, wetlands, and a 7 hectare, 30 metre-high reclaimed landfill area with a lookout on top. This provides an expansive view of the local landscape and forms a significant landmark on the outskirts of the city, adjacent to the Goulburn and Broken Rivers.
Location - The Australian Botanic Gardens Shepparton is located in Kialla Tip Road, off Riverview Drive. (Turn off from the Goulburn Valley Hwy at Riverside Plaza.)
Opening Hours - The Gardens are open every day, all day. Please park your vehicle at the gated area at the end of Kialla Tip Road and walk in.
Cycling Areas in the Gardens - Bicycles can be ridden on the lower areas around the base of Honeysuckle Rise and on the crushed brick paths through the native bushland areas. Please dismount if you wish to walk to the top of Honeysuckle Rise.
No Dogs Policy - Please adhere to this policy. Should you wish to exercise your dogs in Shepparton there are many shared pathways along the Goulburn River and an off-leash dog park in Paterson Road.
A Master Plan for the site has been prepared. It guides the development of the themed gardens across the top of Honeysuckle Rise as well as the plantings and pathways which wind through the natural bushland areas.

Volleyball Australia coming to Greater Shepparton
Tickets are now on sale for the Federation Internationale De Volleyball (FIVB) World Tour which is coming to Shepparton on the weekend of March 3-5.
Two temporary purpose-built courts and a warm-up court will be constructed, and a 600-seat grandstand will be erected at the Victoria Park Lake precinct. The event will see teams competing from 32 countries, with national and international TV and media exposure for Greater Shepparton and will generate over $1million in economic stimulation.
The Beach Volleyball World Tour will be held on the Saturday and Sunday on a temporary built stadium at the northern end of Victoria Park Lake.
In conjunction with the World Tour there will be a Beach Carnival from the Friday afternoon through to the Sunday afternoon, making the international sporting event even more special for visitors to Greater Shepparton.
The Beach Carnival will have food trucks, bars, live music, and a kids carnival with free and low cost activities at Victoria Park Lake and Aquamoves. Greater Shepparton City Council is partnering with Love your Local to deliver this event.
Ticket sales for the Volleyball are now available for the Sunday, with Friday and Saturday open to the public for a gold coin donation. Limited tickets are available for Sunday’s two sessions so get in quick to avoid missing out.

RACV Shepparton Bypass
Passionate residents lined up to be filmed having their say on the importance of funding the Shepparton Bypass yesterday as the RACV gathered ammunition for the federal election campaign.
The resulting video will be posted on social media and form the basis of lobbying by the motoring organisation to get all political parties to commit to building all or part of the bypass.
RACV Manager Roads and Traffic Dave Jones said despite competing traffic projects in congested capitals like Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane there remains a good case for the Shepparton Bypass.
''The RACV is calling for all parties in the forthcoming federal election to commit to funding the project and having a plan in place to complete it.''
''We think it is very important for the residents of Shepparton and surrounding communities that there is a high standard road for them to safely bypass Shepparton and easier access through or into industrial areas for truck drivers.''
Mr Jones said
In more than a decade since the western route was finalised the total cost of the project has blown out from $370thmillion to more than $900thmillion but Mr Jones said the RACV supports a staged construction plan which would lessen the burden in any single budget cycle.
''I'm not sure that it is any less likely to be funded, we want to make sure all the parties commit to it and locally there has been a very sensible plan to stage construction so that it is not a financial drain on any particular government,'' he said.
''It can be done very sensibly in practical stages over a five to ten year period and each stage on its own will deliver benefits to the local community.''
Mr Jones said funding would also recognise the regions importance to the state economy.
''We think there is a significant argument for federal government to continue investing in the regions, the regions of Victoria including Shepparton are some of the economic drivers, the power houses behind the Victorian economy so it is important that industry in the area that employs local people has as direct and easy access as possible to markets.''
Rail was also an issue raised by residents during filming yesterday and Mr Jones said the On Track Survey currently on the RACV website is an opportunity for residents to have their say on the adequacy of services.
Mr Jones said the results would be used to lobby the Victorian Government to ensure that rail also meets the needs of Goulburn Valley residents.

163. Rotary Park, Echuca Victoria
The Rotary Park in Echuca Victoria provides a perfect free camp while staying in Echuca to see the Murray River and the many local attractions.
There is heaps of space with upper parking areas all around the oval and overlooking the Campaspe River which comes off the Murray. There is also a large open lower level to park right on the river. It also has a miniature train track on the lower level.
The campground is for self contained vehicles only.
There are 2 blocks of toilets however both were locked during our stay.
Water is available and there is a Dump point also.
It is pet friendly.
We had great Telstra, Vodafone and Optus coverage.
The campground is only a few minutes drive to the town of Echuca.
The cost to stay is Free however a donation of $5 is requested for use of Dump point and water.

Shepparton Primary & Secondary School River Connect Project
This video showcases Shepparton Christian School, St Brendans Primary School and Notre Dame Secondary College being presented with a certificate and a framed aerial photo of Shepparton. Diane Hannah announces each schools river project area and explains their intention. Towards the end, everyone is involved in saying a pledge that they will work together to preserve the environment.
