Plymouth yoga studio stretches into bigger space
In this week's Business Matters, it's a roundup of several stories: a Plymouth yoga studio celebrates its grand reopening with a new partnership and Hennepin County encourages more businesses to recycle by offering thousands of dollars worth of grants.
YogaMN reopens, partners with Blooma
There's a sense of gratitude and a feeling of new birth at longtime Plymouth yoga studio, Yoga MN.
It's a super exciting day, it's our grand reopening, said Yoga MN owner Mary Margaret Anderson. We opened 15 years ago.
For 15 years, Yoga MN has offered a variety of classes in its studio located within a Plymouth strip mall just off Rockford Road and I-494.
Now the yoga business is stretching itself into a bigger space that happens to be just a few doors down in the same strip mall. The business is also partnering with Blooma, a growing yoga studio that offers prenatal yoga.
Yoga MN and Mary have had this established, phenomenal business for so long, and it was such a wonderful invitation, said Sarah Longacre, founder of Blooma.
The new partnership means Yoga MN and Blooma together can now offer yoga for all stages of life.
From the conception, all the way through life, we want to be that sacred community space to come to, said Longacre.
Hennepin County aims to boost recycling among businesses with grants
When Boston Scientific's campus in Maple Grove undertook a new composting effort in the company's cafeteria earlier this year, its goal was to reduce the amount of trash generated by 48 tons annually. It's just the kind of effort Hennepin County would like to see more of among businesses in the Minneapolis-St.Paul metro.
The goal is to get businesses to recycle more, compost more, and [take on] other organics recycling, said Andre Xiong, recycling specialist for Hennepin County.
Hennepin County knows businesses can recycle much more than they already do, and the county offers thousands of dollars in grants each year to businesses to boost their recycling efforts. The efforts can be as simple as putting labels on recycling bins to more involved programs, such as the Boston Scientific undertaking that delves into organics recycling.
We want to recycle 75 percent by 2030. The business sector is going to help us reach those goals, said Xiong.
Hennepin County offers grants ranging from $1,000 to $50,000.
