City Description:
Napier, a coastal city on New Zealand's North Island, is set amid the renowned wine-producing region of Hawke's Bay. Rebuilt after a 1931 earthquake, the city is known for art deco landmarks like the zigzag-patterned Daily Telegraph Building. Along the tree-lined waterfront promenade the Marine Parade, the Pania of the Reef statue depicting a Maori maiden, is a symbol of the city.Other bayfront attractions include MTG Hawke's Bay, a complex encompassing a performing-arts theatre, art gallery and a museum with exhibits on local Maori heritage and the 1931 earthquake. At the National Aquarium, sea life encounters include swimming with sharks. South of Napier, 399m-high Te Mata Peak offers hiking trails and panoramic views. To the east is Cape Kidnappers headland, which shelters massive Gannet seabirds. The city of Taradale is home to many of the region’s most venerable vineyards, which produce popular red varietals like Cabernet Sauvignon.
Weather and Events:
Peak travel to the city, and nearby wineries and hiking trails, is Dec–Apr, when temperatures are generally mild. The temperate maritime climate also makes for mild winters (Jun–Aug). The Tremains Art Deco Weekend (Feb) celebrates the city's architectural heritage with 1920s- and 1930s-themed events. The Food and Wine Classic Hawke's Bay is a series of culinary events centred on Hawke's Bay's famous wines, staged in both summer (Nov) and winter (Jun).

5 Things to do in Hawkes Bay
The shore of the Hawkes Bay, Napier is a seaside city with a dramatic history and plenty to offer a visitor. The 'Fruit Bowl of New Zealand' produces wine as well as stone and pip fruit. Napier's twin town, Hastings, is a mere 11 km away.

1) Learn the History of Napier
Otatara Pa was occupied about 1400-1500, and despite quarrying destroying a portion of the original pa, there is still a substantial area of earthen structure ruins that can be viewed today. It is New Zealand and the rest of the world. Considered to be one of the best archaeological sites in New Zealand, on clear day views from the Pa site are incredible, even as far as Ruapehu on the Central Plateau. The township of Napier was founded in 1855 and was an unexceptional town until in 1931 when a tremendous earthquake devastated the region. 256 people died and most of the buildings were flattened, flooded and then burnt.
2) Meet the Animals of the Hawkes Bay
One of the most advertised attractions near Napier is the Gannet Colony at Cape Kidnappers. As the world's largest colony of these large seabirds, with as many as 6500 pairs in this Gannetry, it is an awesome sight. The stark landscape and the breath-taking dives of the feeding birds make a dramatic scene.
3) Try the Produce of the Region
The sunny warm days of the Hawkes Bay weather promotes the growth of fruits, and at least 100 vineyards in the area produce quality wine. Chardonnay and Bordeaux are the wines of choice in the area and there are many options on which of the cellar doors to visit. Mission Estate Winery is the oldest vineyard in New Zealand, established in 1851, it terms itself as the birthplace of NZ wine, while Craggy Range was named best winery in the world 2014.
4) Visit and Explore Hastings
The 1931 Earthquake also hit Hastings hard, although it missed the tsunami that flooded Napier. A self-guided Audio Tour of Hastings leads you through the areas that were damaged and informs you about the effects of the quake and educates you with survivor's stories. The replacement buildings in Hastings are different from Napier with a 'Spanish Mission' character.
5) Get Close to Napier
Get informed about the earthquake at the MTG Hawkes Bay (Museum, Theatre, Gallery). Together with the exhibition on the local disaster, there is a Tenei Tonu display, featuring collections of Maori treasures, such as 9 metre Waka (Canoe), and a display on New Zealand's giant flightless bird, the Moa. The museum complex is housed in a group of three buildings, the oldest of which dates from 1865.

Napier is a wonderful city full of Art Deco elements. Art Deco reminds me a bit of a video game. How do you feel about? We walked through the streets and visited MTG Hawkes' Bay. If you need other tips you can just visit:
A short drive from Napier CBD is Te Mata Peak. You can drive up there and have a beautiful view over Hawkes' Bay. Te Mata Peak is also famous for its mountain bike tracks or hikes.
At least we went to Cloud9 Trampoline Park due to bad weather. We will never grow up, right? I would definitely recommend this park.

Happy belated Easter!! If you don’t celly Easter, Happy Day haha I hope you are all doing very well :)
I may have missed a few uploads (uh oh) but this vlog was worth the wait! We had such an amazing time in Napier.
Napier is absolutely beautiful with loads of things to do, beautiful food to eat and amazing wine to drink. I especially LOVED the food at Elephant Hill- EH is a fine dining restaurant just outside of town (or is it a city idk). Absolutely beautiful lunch and would recommend to anyone looking for a unique dining experience.
Leave a comment below of the BEST restaurant you have ever been to! No matter where you are from, I want to know!! Maybe I can try it some day :)
We also got to fly our DJI Go 4 drone!! It was fricken awesome. The drone was a gift from my parents and we are so thankful!
Now I just need to figure out how to get my footage from the app, to my comp without losing quality…help? Anyone? haha
Okay, that’s enough from me! Hope you enjoy!!

Napier, the Art Deco Capitol of New Zealand
Napier in the Hawke's Bay region of the North Island, New Zealand, was destroyed by a 7.8 earthquake on Feb. 3, 1931. In two years, the town was rebuilt in Art Deco, Spanish Mission and Stripped Classical Style. The 123 historic buildings are protected by the Art Deco Trust and going to Napier is like walking into a movie set.
