Snorkeling at Cano Island, Costa Rica
Cano Island is one of the best snorkeling spots in Costa Rica. It's a 1.5 hour boat ride out to the island from Uvita. For our tour, we went with Mad About Diving - a tour operator in Uvita that does both scuba diving and snorkeling trips to Cano Island. Our trip had 4 snorkelers and 3 scuba divers.
During the boat ride out to the island we saw lots of dolphins. Then once we reached the island, we did 2 swims. One close to the shore with lots of small colorful fish (puffer fish, angel fish, parrot fish, etc.), sting rays, and sea turtles. And a second one a couple of hundred yards out where there were larger schools of fish. Though we didn't see any, our guide told us that occasionally they see mana rays and whale sharks at the second spot.
On the way back to Uvita, we saw more dolphins and lots of sea turtles sunning themselves on the surface.

10 Days In Costa Rica
Back in March I travelled around Costa Rica for 10 amazing days. We split our time equally between the mountains and the beach and this was the perfect combination. Our two main destinations were Monteverde and Uvita. Below is a list of all the places featured in the video!
For my full itinerary, check out my post:
1. Monteverde Cloud Forest
2. Zip line Tour with Original Canopy Tour
3. Driving down the gravel road from Monteverde
4. Cascada El Pavon (waterfall)
5. Snorkeling at Cano Island with Mad About Diving
6. Nauyaca Falls (waterfall)
7. Manuel Antonio National Park
8. Uvita waterfall (This is the waterfall that you can slide down. You can see it at the beginning and end of the video.)

360 | Day Tripping in Dominical, Costa Rica
Dominical is a sleepy beach town on Costa Rica's Pacific coast, four hours southwest of San Jose. There's an epic surf break and that's what it's known for. However, surfing is only scratching Dominical's surface.
The nearby beach of Playa Ventanas has a whole collection of sick beach caves where the ocean swell crashes through. It's also a nice spot for a coconut water. The interior is all about jungles and waterfalls, the rainforest at Hacienda Baru home to sloths and a canopy zipline. And you simply can't beat the gorgeous Nauyaca Falls. This two-tier waterfall is a photographer's dream, complete with refreshingly inviting swimming holes -- not to mention cliffs for daredevil diving.
Dominical, Costa Rica -- we can't wait to go back. Until then, we'll just keeping watching the video above. On repeat.

Shark encounter
Well, the shark was taking a well deserved rest and it was napping in the bottom when we arrived to look at him.
As most animals, they prefer to avoid human contact.

Quepos Fish Adventure - Spinner dolphins while floating dead in the water off Quepos, Costa Rica
Aboard the Stress Reliever about 15 miles off Quepos, Costa Rica. Captain John Schuchert had called in sick that morning (we later found out that he had gone to San Jose instead of laying sick in bed!) We were told we would be going out with his mate Mike. Unfortunately, we didn't make it out before the boat died. We had some dolphins keeping us company while we waited for a boat that eventually came along to help us out.
Once running again thanks to the help of others, we started to come in out of concern of whether it was truly fixed. John called and coerced us to stay out by promising a $200 refund for the 2 hrs lost, and by making us wonder whether he would actually refund the trip if we came in. At the end of the day, he reneged and invented a story on Tripadvisor that the boat never broke down, that he was on the boat, and that we were a bunch of wild drunkerds on his boat that showed up short on cash and demanded a refund for no reason.
