Madhugiri Karnataka India
Trekking Madhugiri, Asia's second largest Monolith, Karnataka, India
Madhugiri is a town in Tumkur district in the Indian state of Karnataka. The town derives its name from a hillock, Madhu-giri (honey-hill) which is to the south of the place.
At 3,930 ft (1,200 m) elevation, Madhugiri is a single hill. It is the First largest monolith in Asia. Nestled on its steep slopes is a fort. Antaralada Bagilu, Diddi Bagilu, and Mysuru Gate are the three gateways of the fort. A series of doorways leads to the hill. The ruined temple of Gopalakrishna is located at the top.
Genesis of the name Madhugiri is derived from the Honeybee colonies which were prevalent in those days towards the northern parts of the Madhugiri fortress.

Rayappa Kasi Laudato si 35, Jayamangali Blackbuck Reserve, Madhugiri, Karnataka, India
Laudato Si: 35. In assessing the environmental impact of any project, concern is usually shown for its effects on soil, water and air, yet few careful studies are made of its impact on biodiversity, as if the loss of species or animals and plant groups were of little importance. Highways, new plantations, the fencing-off of certain areas, the damming of water sources, and similar developments, crowd out natural habitats and, at times, break them up in such a way that animal populations can no longer migrate or roam freely. As a result, some species face extinction. Alternatives exist which at least lessen the impact of these projects, like the creation of biological corridors, but few countries demonstrate such concern and foresight. Frequently, when certain species are exploited commercially, little attention is paid to studying their reproductive patterns in order to prevent their depletion and the consequent imbalance of the ecosystem.

Madhugiri is a town in Tumkur district in the Indian state of Karnataka. It is the second largest monolith in Asia.
Madhugiri, or also known as Maddagiri, is located around 107 km north-west of Bengaluru city.
Google maps directions:-
We started our trip from Electronic city Bengaluru. We rented 2 bikes form and
We took Nice Road to reach Madhugiri. It's the same route we took to visit Devarayanadurga. If you leave early you can cover both places as both are nearby. The trek in Madhugiri is tiring so be sure to carry plenty of water with you. Its better to start the climb early morning but for us the weather was really amazing that day so we started in afternoon.
The place itself s amazing and a totally different experience everyone should try to visit this place.
