Shibuya bar hopping night tour
Kamakura nature and culture tour
Hey everyone! In today’s video I teamed up with Magical Trip where we explored 2 very different sides of Tokyo. We did a cultural tour in the morning in Kamakura, which is about an hour away from Tokyo to see the more traditional side. We ate lots of street food as well as go to traditional shrines. All tours are run by a local guide who is able to tell you all the hidden spots you usually wouldn’t be able to find! At night time we did a Shibuya bar hopping tour where our local guide took us to hidden bars I never knew existed! It was a great way to experience Japan!

Local Things To Do in Tokyo | Koreatown, Shinjuku, Kagurazaka
In search of new things to do in Tokyo, I spent the day with my Japanese buddy Yuta. He acted as my local tour guide as we explored a less-touristy side of Tokyo.
Things to do in Tokyo (from this video):
Tokyo's Koreatown - In the Shin Okubo neighborhood of Tokyo is Koreatown - A great place for markets, restaurants, street food, and perhaps most popular attraction the pretty faces of Korean Pop World.
Record shops of West Shinjuku - The West Side of Shinjuku is a music lovers paradise, home to many recording studios and record shops, its a great place for locals to discover new music and enjoy the classics.
Eat Udon - Udon is a thick, wheat flour noodle served al dente in a broth based of soy sauce, rice wine and dashi (like a fish stock).
Kagurazaka - Kagurasaka is a quiet traditional Japanese neighborhood left off most tourist maps. home to beautiful maze-like side streets and an interesting french influence.

Tokyo Night Life | Japan |
Sight-seeing, partying, dining or just chilling out, there is always something for everyone to do. After sunset, there is no lack of activities to enjoy in Tokyo. Here are some recommended activities:
Night Views
As dusk falls, the sprawling metropolis of Tokyo transforms into a city of bright lights. Many observation decks in towers and tall buildings open until around 22:00, providing great vantage points for lovely night views. Recommended observation decks are those at the Tokyo Skytree, Tokyo Tower, Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building and Sunshine 60 in the Ikebukuro district.
Food
Dining is probably the most heavily indulged in night activity. All over the city, various types of dining establishments can be found, from humble family restaurants to traditional Japanese style izakaya and posh three-star Michelin restaurants. It is impossible to categorize dining locations because they are ubiquitous.
Museums and Theme Parks
Museums in Tokyo usually close around 17:00 to 18:00 and are thus not suitable night destinations in general. There are however some museums and aquariums that typically close later, like the Mori Museum, Sumida Aquarium, Maxell Aqua Park Shinagawa and Sunshine International Aquarium.
Nightlife Districts
Tokyo's best known nightlife districts are Shinjuku, Shibuya, Ginza and Roppongi:
Northeast of Shinjuku Station lies Kabukicho, Japan's largest red light district, with hundreds of hostess clubs, restaurants, bars, nightclubs and massage parlors. Large bill boards and neon signs brightly light the streets. The district is generally safe but adult shops and posters of scantily clad women are not uncommon. Most establishments in Kabukicho target a Japanese clientele, and some charge expensive cover fees. Located in one corner of Kabukicho, Golden Gai is an old-fashioned district of narrow alleys with many small bars.
Night Walk
An evening stroll on the streets of Tokyo could be a great way to see the city after dusk. The temple precincts of Sensoji at Asakusa are charming at night with dimly illuminated lanterns. The main hall closes at 17:00, but the temple grounds are always open and are popular among tourists at night.
Onsen
Thanks to modern drilling technologies, Tokyo offers several large hot spring establishments with a wide selections of baths, relaxation, dining and entertainment options. They are like onsen theme parks, where visitors pay an entrance fee and are free to dip in any of the hot spring pools as many times as they wish. These hot spring establishments usually open late and are great places to rejuvenate after a day of touring the city.
Tokyo Nightlife in Japan: TOP 30 Bars & Clubs
This is my Ultimate Tokyo Nightlife Guide featuring the TOP 30 bars & nightclubs which I carefully selected including places such as Club Camelot, Hollow Point, Fight Club 428, ELE Tokyo, 1 OAK, Buri and of course Ageha, the best nightclub in Japan. Subscribe to my channel ► for weekly videos!
NEW: 7-Day Tokyo Pocket Itinerary
+ tons of Tokyo discount tickets
Tokyo is absolutely massive, with most popular nightlife hot spots located in Shibuya, Roppongi and Shinjuku districts. There are so many bars and nightclubs in Tokyo, you may wonder - Where do I start? Based on age, I would say Shibuya is for the Japanese youth/teenagers, Roppongi for the 25+ crowd and Shinjuku for the 35+ crowd.
Join the Tokyo Pub Crawl for just $24 + 20% discount!

$46 OFF with Airbnb Tokyo
Osaka Nightlife: TOP 20 Bars & Clubs (NEW)
The best possible thing you can do is join the Tokyo Pub Crawl on Friday in Roppongi and explore the nightlife of Shibuya on Saturday, those are the best days for an epic weekend in Tokyo.
If you make new friends in Tokyo, you will eventually be asked to be added to LINE. LINE is 'the' chat app in Japan, so if you do not have DATA on your phone during your stay, make sure to rent a dirt cheap pocket Wifi station at the airport. You can take these pocket Wifi stations all over the country and allow you to connect many of your devices. It even fits in your back pocket. Luckily, there is a 30% discount on Ninja pocket Wifi stations on Voyagin. I personally rent this device everytime when I visit Japan.
30% discount on Ninja Pocket Wifi rental, pickup at Airport
- just $6 USD per day!
(works all over Japan)
Nightlife in Japan is beyond incredible! The most popular nightclubs in Tokyo include Club Camelot in Shibuya, ELE Tokyo in Roppongi and Ageha Nightclub in Koto City. Ageha is the best nightclub in Japan, it will be an all night event since it is quite far from downtown but on a big event night you will be amazed by the gorgeous girls, cool dudes and a fantastic sound system. This mega club stays open until 5am and should be high on your Tokyo party bucket list.
Tokyo has the best quality of food in the world, that's why you have to visit at least one of its many izakaya's to try a bunch of authentic Japanese dishes, like Eihire (grilled stingray), Sakura (raw horse meat) and Yakitori (skewered chicken meat). Visit izakaya's Umiya or Sumire in Shibuya to enjoy these dishes.
After dinner join the Tokyo Pub Crawl on Friday @ 8pm which lasts until 12am (4 hours) during which you will visit 3 bars and 1 epic nightclub. Tokyo Pub Crawl is a great event to meet travelers, locals, expats and fully hosted in English. What many travelers do not realize is that English isn't commonly spoken at bars and nightclubs, thus the pub crawl is a great first start. The Tokyo Pub Crawl is ONLY $20 USD for 4 hours of fun, you truly cannot go wrong.
Studying a bit of Japanese and learning common phrases prior to your arrival will definitely make your nightlife experience in Japan 10x times better. I've made many incredible friends during my 6 visits to Japan and these have been some of my most treasured memories by being able to speak a bit of Japanese.
I truly have seen it all in Tokyo since my first Tokyo Nightlife experience back in 2007 - I've seen many bars and clubs come and go, that's why I decided to compile the best possible list for an epic party weekend in the capital of Japan.
Food in Tokyo is very important to me, I highly recommend you also watch my video: 10 MUST-EAT Foods in Tokyo. Also, do not forget to join the insane Mario Kart Tokyo experience which you can purchase with a 37% discount for Mario Kart Tokyo, speaking of discounts, there is a 34% discount for the Robot Restaurant as well.
34% OFF Robot Restaurant
In conclusion, the Tokyo Nightlife is one of world's finest but often travelers have no idea where to go or where to start. There seems to be a lot of confusion as to where the good parties are in town that's why I decided to create this master Tokyo nightlife list of all the things I learned about Tokyo during my 6x visits in the past decade.

The ULTIMATE Japanese FOOD & DRINK Tour of Shibuya - Izakaya Bar Hopping | Tokyo, Japan
In January of 2019, I had the amazing opportunity to spend twelve days in Japan while working a job for a company there. I had some of the most incredible travel and food experiences of my life during those twelve days, and was lucky enough to immerse myself in traditional Japanese culture and visit some of the country’s most iconic sites. I hope you enjoy watching this Japan series as much as I enjoyed filming it!

On the night of my third day in Tokyo, I set out on an incredible food and drink tour with Magical Trip, a tour service that is available in Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, and Hiroshima and takes small groups of tourists on a wide variety of food and cultural tours. Best of all, the tours are led by local guides, so participants get the inside scoop on places known only by locals. I couldn’t wait to get started!
My Film Making Kit ►
My last street food tour of Tokyo began on another freezing night at Shibuya Crossing, the busiest intersection in the world! I met up with my tour guide, Remi, and my fellow tour-goers, and we set off on our Izakaya, or a mixture of restaurants and bars, tour of Shibuya!
At our first place, we started with a wet towel to clean our hands (and in my case, my face) before our meal. Then, we ordered some shochu, a Japanese spirit that’s a lot like vodka. It’s about 25% alcohol and reminded me of rakia. It’s pretty strong!
My first dish was tuna sashimi with shoyu (soy sauce) and wasabi. It was so fresh and fatty. One of the best things about dining in Japan is all of the fresh seafood! Next up was the fried oyster, which was crunchy and buttery and fantastic with the mayo it was served with.
On our way to our next place, we passed by lots of restaurants and stores selling things like shoes, clothing and even lingerie! This area is exactly what you expect to see when you think “Tokyo,” bright lights and a dizzying flurry of activity everywhere you look!
Our next stop was an Izakaya building, where we went up to the third floor and had some sake with ice to start, followed by some wagyu beef that was torched right at our table! I had it with some rice and wasabi. It was so buttery and a little crispy on top from the torch. Fantastic!
Then I had some waygu beef with rice and green onions, which was also amazing! I loved it!
After that, we headed to our third Izakaya, a place called Meat Alley, which offered a wide selection of alcoholic drinks and meat dishes. I started with some plum wine, which tasted like grapefruit juice! I couldn’t believe it was wine, but it was delicious!
After our drinks, we moved on to some karaage, or fried chicken. It was so different, but so amazing! It blows KFC out of the water, for sure! Next I tried some asparagus and mushrooms, which were phenomenal. Then, it was time for bacon! It was super thick and fatty and very flavorful.
I followed the bacon with a super dry, cold sake that had a nice, fruity flavor, and we finished off our night with a quiz based on some of the information Remi shared with us on our tour. How do you think I did?
Wow! What a night! That Izakaya tour was so much fun and was a great way to eat some food and have some drinks like a local would. I have to thank Remi and Magical Tours for such an incredible night.
If you liked this video, please give it a thumbs up, leave me a comment, and subscribe to my channel and I will see you in the next travel food adventure!
