Kathmandu Durbar Square 2019
I revisited Kathmandu’s Durbar Square to see how restoration was proceeding after the 2015 earthquake. My favourite Trailokya Mohan Narayan, Maju Deval and Narayan Temples were destroyed and are still being rebuilt. Kasthamandap Temple and Hanuman Dhoka palace were severely damaged and are still being repaired. The rest of the buildings are in his shape. The buildings in this video are:
Gaddi Baithak, part of the Royal Palace complex built in the 1908
Trailokya Mohan Narayan, Maju Deval and Narayan Temples are still being rebuilt
Kumari Bahal was built in 1757 and is home to the Kumari, the young girl who is selected to be Kathmandu’s living goddess until she reaches puberty and reverts to being a normal mortal
