Japanease tea & Uji
Do you know Uji?
Uji is in the south of Kyoto, and is famous for the production of Japanese tea.
Japanese tea originated in Uji, a hilly district extending south and east of Kyoto, one of the oldest towns in Japan.
The Japanese tea from Uji then spread all over Japan as a signature of high quality tea and also of tea drinking customs.
Then, we will visit the established business house where the confectionery of Japanese tea is offered.
Here is NakamuraTokichiHonten.
We pass through the noren, traditional Japanese fabric dividers and enter inside.
When we advance, we arrive at the Japanese garden.
There is a restaurant in the other side of the garden.
This restaurant is very popular.
Therefore, always a lot of guests are visiting.
It can eat noodles such as Udon in this restaurant. However, it is recommended to eat sweets of tea.
There are soft ice cream and a cake of Japanese tea, too. Of course, you can eat the cake of traditional Japan.
And, you should taste Japanese tea. Let's drink Japanese tea in Kyoto, in Uji. Because here is a birthplace of Japanese tea.

Kushi Matsuri (comb festival) at Gion. Kyoto, Japan.
Hair is usually a woman's prized possession, their crowning glory. There's a saying in Japan that goes A woman's hair is her life. (Kami wa onna no inochi). A women's hair and how she maintained it expressed different meanings. For example in ancient times, how a woman stylized her hair, showed people if the woman was in a relationship or if she was single. Even today, when a woman has a bad break up, sometimes they will cut their hair short to cut ends (pun intended) with that relationship.
On September 23rd there was a Shinto ceremony called 'Kushi Matsuri' (comb festival) at the Yasui Konpiragu shrine in the Gion district. The ritual honors decorative combs used in traditional Japanese hair styling. Back in ancient times, a woman's hair ornament and comb symbolized a woman's class, religion and character.
Many women with elegant traditional attire paraded their decorative comb and their elaborate hair styles. With beautiful women everywhere, the ceremony was a cameraman's dream. 100's of enthusiastic photographers clicked away as the women walked around the hustle and bustle of Gion.

Grandma's Love for Japanese Kimono _What is the attire that hold special place in you?
Matchan, 79 years old Japanese lady in Yabu-city, Hyogo, Japan used to make living out of sawing Kimono all the good and bad times in her life. When I first moved to this small village, she let me have her 50 - 60 years old Kimono, which she spent all her money to buy the fabric and saw on her own. My heart was filled with appreciation. I am the beginner to wear Kimono, but I have huge respect for not just Kimono, but for her 79years of life path with Kimono.
What is the attire that hold special place in you?
