Mangalam Dam - Less Explored Tourist Destination in Palakkad District, Kerala
Mangalam Dam is situated in Palakkad District, Kerala, about 16 km from Vadakkenchery. It is located in a small village. The Mangalam reservoir is surrounded by forest area. A children's' park is located inside the Mangalam garden. Entry fee is also less. Boat service is not available here.
You can have a walk and enjoy the serene atmosphere with a cool breeze. Better to reach in the evening and enjoy the scenery. The place is less crowded.
The Government had plans to develop this site as a tourist destination. But it is noted that the park and the surroundings are not properly maintained. Still, you can enjoy the beauty of nature.

There are places where the camera is a bit out of focus and moves a little fast. A tree with a twisted trunk, towards the end of the video, is really interesting to watch.

Gayathripuzha River is one of the main tributaries of the Bharathapuzha River, the second-longest river in Kerala, south India. It originates from Anaimalai hills, passes through Kollengode, Nenmara (Nemmara), Alathur, Padur and Pazhayannur before joining the Bharathapuzha at Mayannur. It is the second largest tributary of Bharathapuzha, by both length and discharge. It flows mainly through Palakkad district, except the last few kilometres. The river is non-perennial like its parent river, and is also prone of sand mining. There is a dam built across this river at Cherakkuzhy near Pazhayannur.

Kerala floods: RAF conducts rescue operations at Mangalam Dam in Palakkad
Palakkad (Kerala), Aug 18 (ANI): The Rapid Action Force (RAF) is currently conducting rescue operations in flood-hit Mangalam Dam in Kerala’s Palakkad. The RAF team distributed relief material to the local Adivasis in an Adivasi colony. Death toll in Kerala has risen to 324. The incessant rains have wreaked havoc in the region. Streets are inundated with flood waters while the rivers have swollen due to flood situation. Indian Army and Navy have been pressed in to carry out rescue and relief operations in vulnerable areas.
