Manimahesh Lake (also known as Dal Lake, Manimahesh) is a high altitude lake (elevation 4,080 metres (13,390 ft)) situated close to the Manimahesh Kailash Peak in the Pir Panjal Range of the Himalayas, in the Bharmour subdivision of Chamba district of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. The religious significance of this lake is next to that of the Lake Manasarovar in Tibet.

Manimahesh Kailash & Manimahesh Lake - Manimahesh Kailash Yatra Part - 8
Manimahesh Lake (also known as Dal Lake, Manimahesh) is a high altitude lake 13,500 ft situated close to the Manimahesh Kailash Peak in the Pir Panjal Range of the Himalayas, in the Bharmour sub-division of Chamba district of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. The lake is the venue of a highly revered pilgrimage trek undertaken during the month of August/September corresponding to the month of Bhadon according to Hindu calendar, on the eighth day of the New Moon period. It is known as the ‘Manimahesh Yatra’. The Government of Himachal Pradesh has declared it as a state-level pilgrimage. Hadsar to Manimahesh Lake distance is approx. 14 km.
How to reach Hadsar
Train : Nearest Broad Gauge Railway head is Pathankot (Punjab), 190-200 km away.
Air : Nearest airport is at Gaggal in Kangra (170 kms from Chamba).
Road : Hadsar is From 78 kms away from Chamba by road. Buses, taxis and coaches regularly plying from Chandigarh and Delhi. Dalhousie is 563 km from Delhi and 353 km from Chandigarh.

Manimahesh Kailash Yatra ,Chamba, Himachal Pradesh 2019
Manimahesh Yatra after reaching Bharmour, its better to start your journey early next morning. Reach Hadsar in 30-40 minutes. Then start your journey to Dhancho, which is 6 km away from hadsar and usually takes 5-7 hours. You can stay in Dhancho or can go same day to Manimahesh. Before Manimahesh lake there is Gauri Kund located 1 km before Manimahesh Lake.
The belief is that Lord Shiva used to take bath in Manimahesh Lake and goddess Gauri used to take bath in Gauri Kund. Only Women take a dip in Gauri kund and all others can take a dip in Manimahesh Lake.
During the annual pilgrimage in August-September, many night-shelters and eateries (Langar or Food) are present along the trekking route. Night-shelter is also available at village Dhanchoo, about 6 km from Hadsar on the way to Manimahesh.
As Manimahesh yatra is a state festival, accomodations are easily available. There are severalSewa Camps hosted by Sewaks from Himachal, Punjab (specially from Pathankot, Patiala, Amritsar, Muktsar) and from all over India. These Sewaks provide you with tented accommodations and free langar (food). These tented accommodations are provided both at Gauri Kund and Manimahesh lake.
Sleeping bags, tents and quilts are provided for a very cheap price. It feels so pure and blessed that everything is provided for free by these Sewaks who are doing this sewa in the name of Lord Shiva, to get the blessing of Almighty God.
Manimahesh is 26 KM from Bharmour (Last destination to reach Manimahesh. Bharmour is is 180 KM from Pathankot (End Destination of Punjab to reach Manimahesh)
From Train:- Nearest Railway Station is Pathankot Cantt railway station which was known as Chakki bank earlier (Punjab).
From Airport:- Nearest airport is at Gaggal in Kangra (230 km from Bharmour) but Jammu and Amritsar Airports are also feasible.
By Road:- Manimahesh is easily accessible by buses and taxis to Bharmour and then by local taxis to Hadsar except last 13 km which can be covered by foot only.
By walk:- Manimahesh is accessible by walk from Hadsar by following treks
There are 3 trekking routes to Manimahesh Lake but the one starting from Bharmour is the most popular and offers basic tourist facilities along the way. Bharmour can be reached from Pathankot via Chamba. The other two routes (one from Kugti village and another from Kangra valley) open for few months during summers and generally taken by experienced trekkers or regular pilgrims from Himachal during Yatra season.
Most popular Route is : Pathankot – Banikhet – Chamba – Bharmour (180 km)
Ways of Transport are:
By Road :
• You can take a direct bus from Delhi to Chamba and then come to Bharmour by bus or taxi.
• There are few direct buses to Chamba from Pathankot and one direct bus to Bharmour from Pathankot in the morning.
• There are many buses (once in 30 minutes) from Chamba to Bharmour (61km, ~100 INR, 2.5 hours).
• Few buses (2 in a day) and shared jeeps (Depending upon tourists) ply between Bharmour to Hadsar (13 km, 30 minutes, 30/40 INR). It is very difficult to catch a ride to Hadsar during non-Yatra season. Private taxi will cost you around more than 350/400 INR.
• In most of the routes, Public transport (Buses) stops after 6:00 PM and start at 8:00 AM morning.
• During Yatra season, there are special buses to Bharmour.
By Train :
Nearest Railway Station is Pathankot (Punjab). Pathankot has two railway stations – Pathankot Railway Station and Pathankot Cantt (Chakki Bank). Tourist can come to Pathankot and from here, can opt for bus services or cab services, available to reach Bharmour. From Delhi you can take a train up to Pathankot. From Pathankot you can take a bus to Chamba and then follow the same route described above. From Pathankot, it is an estimated 7-8 hours drive to Bharmour via Chamba. Bharmour is the town nearest to Manimahesh where you can find proper accommodation for the night.
By Air :
Nearest airport is at Gaggal in Kangra, located at the distance of 240 KM from Bharmour but it takes same time to reach Bharmour from Dharamshala as it takes from Amritsar or Jammu. Its better to fly to Amritsar or Jammu if you are coming to Bharmour as roads are better. Flights are easily available from all the major cities of India. Taxis are also easily available.

This Yatra was commenced on 21 July from Delhi then we reached to Pathankot then to Chamba then Bharmour where we visit Bharmani mata mandir and mandir chaurasi then we went to Hadsar and start trekking for Mani mahesh jheel (13500 feet from sea level) .

Manimahesh Lake is a high altitude lake situated close to the Manimahesh Kailash Peak in the Pir Panjal Range of the Himalayas, in the Bharmour subdivision of Chamba district of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. Manimahesh Kailash Peak stands high above the Manimahesh Lake, which is believed to be the home of Lord Shiva. It is situated in the Bharmour subdivision of the Chamba District in Himachal Pradesh. The Manimahesh Lake is at the base of the Kailash peak which is at 18,547 ft and both are admired by the people of Himachal Pradesh. It is blessed by the goddess Kali and protected by Lord Shiva. Thousands of tourists journey here to take a dip in its sacred waters of Manimahesh on the fifteenth day following the Janamashtami festival. A huge fair is held every year at this lake in the month of August or September.

A short story of Mysterious Kailash parvat (Kailash Manimahesh Parikrama via Kugti). The trek is really beautiful as well as dangerous. One should be well prepared before going for this trek. Do not go without guide also you may contact us for the reservation of this trek. The highest point of the trek is Dham Ghodi at 5100 metres. One can feel lack of oxygen after Alyas so be prepared.
Also If we talk about Kugti. Kugti is a small unexplored village and is the last village on the way to Kailash Parvat.
It is also assumed that during winters in Kugti the population of the village goes really down due to heavy snowfall. People from Kugti village move to other places because the life of people in Kugti village becomes really difficult when it starts snowing.
Its a 4 kms Trek to Kartik Temple also known as Kartik Swami Temple. It is the only temple in the world of Lord Shiva's Son.
Kugti village is in 72.9 hectares and mainly potatoes and Rajma is grown here.
Kailash Manimahesh Parikrama is a breathtaking trek If you love nature than Kailash Manimahesh Parikrama is for you.
kailash Manimahesh is said to be the abode of Lord Shiva.
The trekkers choosing this trek should be aware of the fact that, Kailash manimahesh parikrama is not for solo trekkers as it is really a dangerous one.
Kailash Manimahesh is said to be one of the Kailash amongst the five Kailash, the other are Kailash Mansarovar, Adi Kailash, Srikhand Kailash, Kinnaur Kailash.
One can feel the presence of Lord Shiva in these places.

The Manimahesh Kailash Peak, also known as Chamba Kailash, which stands towering high over the Manimahesh Lake, is believed to be the abode of Lord Shiva, the (Hindu deity). It is located in the Bharmour subdivision of the Chamba district in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. The peak is 26 kilometres (16 mi) from Bharmour in the Budhil valley. It is one of the major pilgrimage sites in Himachal Pradesh. The Manimahesh Lake is at the base of the Kailash peak at 5,653 metres (18,547 ft) and both are held in deep veneration by people of Himachal Pradesh, particularly the Gaddi tribes of the region, as the abode of Lord Shiva. In the month of Bhadon, on the eighth day of the new moon period a fair is held in the precincts of the lake that attracts thousands of pilgrims.
Manimahesh Kailash has not been successfully summitted by mountaineers and is thus a virgin peak. An attempt to climb the peak in 1968 by an Indo–Japanese team led by Nandini Patel was aborted. This failure is attributed to the divine prowess of the peak since it is revered as the holy mountain of Chamba according to the staunch devotees of the Manimahesh Lake and the peak.

Kailash Manimahesh Lake also known as Dal Lake, Manimahesh, is one of the sacred Hindu pilgrim location in North India. Located in the Indian Himalayan ,Pir Panjal Range . Its near the Bharmour subdivision of Chamba district of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. , is a high altitude lake at 4080 mtrs above sea level . The yatra officially starts on Shree Krishana Janamashtami till Radha Ashtami, but we can arrange & book for snow treks before and after ,the sacred Chhadi yatra would reach the sacred Manimahesh lake and after the holy rituals the Yatra would be closed officially till next year. Bharmaur or Bharmour or the name Brahampura was the the capital of ancient kingdom of Chamba,.65 kms from Chamba is the land of snowy & abode of God Shiva & Gaddi tribal ,earlier Bharmaur known as Brahmpur in the 6th century, was the Capital of Chamba state for about four hundred years , till it was shifted to Chamba by Sahil Varman. Bharmour holds one of very old architectures left in India, basically the temples. These temples comprises the Chaurasi Temple Complex .
