Marietas Islands Puerto Vallarta Nuevo Vallarta Mexico hidden Beach las islas marietas
Marietas Islands Puerto Vallarta Nuevo Vallarta Mexico hidden Beach, las Islas marietas, Protected from the intrusion of the world outside, the hidden beach of Marieta Islands las Islas marietas, Puerto Vallarta is a world of its own. Located just a few miles off the coast of Mexico, close to Bandera bay, Marieta Islands are archipelagos that were formed as a result of volcanic activity. The islands have remained almost secluded ever since. It was only recently that the recreational aspect of the place was discovered following the development of an extremely exclusive marine ecosystem that makes this place just as unique as thrilling.
The marine environment of hidden beach Marieta Island, Puerta Vallarta has developed over several years, sans any disturbance from humans or outside nature. As a result, the marine life here is intriguing and holds a huge potential for people who love just this kind of sport. Marieta Islands are one of the best sports for snorkeling and scuba diving owing to the virgin nature of the place, along with its diversity.
The water along the hidden beach Marieta Island, Puerto Vallarta is a crystal clear blue mass of pure bliss. Of the marine wildlife available to view in the place, Humpback whale, sea turtles and dolphins are just a few of the most magnificent examples. Travelers can also enjoy a powerboat trip to the hidden beach, Marieta Island, Puerto Vallarta taking in the scenery along the way. The hidden beach, Marieta Islands, Puerto Vallarta is an intriguing site in its own accord. The beach remains cut off from the rest of the group of islands. And for those who stumble across the place, the surprises held are immense. The beach is considered to possess an abundance of reef fish, with about 103 different species moving around in the clear blue waters of the beach. The whales can also be viewed in their magnificent glory and for some lucky travelers; they may even get to experience the 'whale- music'- unique sound made by these huge creatures just as they dive deeper into the waters. Following winter rains, Puerto Vallarta weather remains pleasant and inviting. The rains also make the water as clear as available on any beach n the world. The accommodation comes easy and in a wide range for all kinds of travelers. While the hidden beach, Marieta Islands, Puerto Vallarta is still hidden mostly in the literal sense, the rest of Puerto, Vallarta is a reasonable commercial place receiving tourists from all over the world in large numbers. The Marieta Islands were originally formed many thousands of years ago by volcanic activity, and are completely uninhabited. The islands are about an hour-long boat ride west-northwest from the coast of Puerto Vallarta and are visited daily by hundreds of tourists, yet no one can legally set foot on the islands. In the early 1900s, the Mexican government began conducting military testing on the islands because no one lived there. Many bombings and large explosions took place on the islands causing amazing caves and rock formations to be created. After a massive international outcry, started by scientist Jacques Cousteau in the late 1960s, the government eventually decided to label the islands a national park and therefore protected against any fishing, hunting or human activity. The only way to get to the beach is to swim through a cave. We had two wait two hours for the tide to go down enough for us to get into the cave. You only have 30 mins from the second your group jumps in the water until you have to get back on your boat.
It is now one of my favorite beaches I have ever visited!

Impressive Beach, Marietas Islands and the Hidden Beach, close to Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico
If you are visiting Puerto Vallarta, you have to take the time to visit the impressive Marietas Islands and the well-known Hidden Beach (Playa Escondida, Playa del Amor), although geographically located in the state of Nayarit, they are also very get to from PV for tourists arriving in our city.
It's a small group of uninhabited islands and islets that are some miles south-west of the northern coast of the bay in the Municipality of Bay of Banderas, where Punta de Mita is the nearest town. Depending on your tour provider you'll take off from mostly Puerto Vallarta or Punta Mita.
In this video you can see its location in the bay and aerial views of the islands and the beach itself.
There are two main islands of volcanic origin that date about 60 thousand years, a rounded one called Isla Redonda (yes, you guessed it, round island) And another that is known as Long Island, which you can imagine, is ... elongated :-).
Due to their excessive popularity, there were too many tourists visiting the island, so it's necessary to get an authorized tour and not all of them go to the hidden beach, although there are many interesting and beautiful places to visit and snorkel at in the Marieta Islands and surrounding waters, it is important to check and confirm what's included in your trip before you buy it.
We recommend to reserve through experts and, of course, our own expert is 100% trustworthy and you can locate him via our the email address: tours@puertovallarta.net.
Currently only a bit more than 100 people are authorized access daily. This is strictly imposed, there are two official boats there with guards and the authority to impose severe fines to those that don't follow the rules. You need to pay a special tax and obtain a special bracelet, all these are reviewed for access. You get a helmet from the guards and you are then let in if the conditions permit it. You might not be authorized if the tides are too high, if there are strong waves or if there is some other form of danger, stinging jellyfish for example.
Enjoy this video, it offers some amazing places and spectacular views.
We thank Google Earth, PostAndFly, PhotoCloud, Mariel de Viaje and Daco Design and Photography for the beautiful Marieta Island images and videos.

Mexico Travels: Nuevo Vallarta, Marietas Islands - Hidden Beach, Sayulita - DJI Drone GoPro
We don’t typically go the resort route but a little treasure of an island caught our eye online a few months ago so we decide to try something different.
The Hidden Beach is inside a sinkhole located on Marietas Islands. You can get to the the Hidden Beach / Marietas Islands from a few places including Puerto Vallarta, Sayulita and Punta de Mita.
From talking to locals we learned that there used to be no restriction on how many people could visit the Hidden Beach per day, unfortunately the beach became trashed with beer cans and carne asada pollution (direct quote from a taxi driver), so the National Commission of Natural Protected Areas (CONANP) put the island on time-out for some cleanup and preservation work.
Getting to this beach was challenging on many levels but we made it and it was so worth it. With day trips to Sayulita and Puerto Vallarta on the side, this trip did not disappoint.

Islas Marietas (Hidden Beach), Sayulita, Nayarit, Mexico
It felt great to finally check this one of the ol' bucket list. The Islas Marietas (Marieta Islands) are a small group of uninhabited islands off the coast of Nayarit, Mexico. Akin to the Galapagos Islands, this national park is home to the Blue-footed Booby and is protected by the Mexican government, as it is an UNESCO reserve. The islands are also home to the famous Playa del Amor (Beach of Love) aka Hidden Beach, a sun-quenched crater only accessible via permit (116 visitors a day/five days a week) and during low-tide. Lady luck was definitely on our side for this visit with the Marietas-Islands Tour! Stay tuned for an article on this visit and information on the nearby coastal town of Sayulita, MX on buenqamino.com *Song: Baby Love by Petite Meller

The Marietas Islands & The Hidden Beach close to Puerto Vallarta
To learn more about The Marieta Islands (Islas Marietas), visit:
The Marieta Islands north of Puerto Vallarta in the neighboring state of Nayarit, are without a doubt one of the activities you should put on your short list of tours and adventures to enjoy during your stay in Puerto Vallarta or elsewhere in the Banderas Bay area.
They are a small group of uninhabited islands a few miles off the North coast of the Banderas Bay in the state of Nayarit (closest town is Punta de Mita), with two main volcanic islands dating from around 60,000 years ago, one called Isla Redonda (Round Island) and the other Isla Larga (Long Island, no relationship to NY).
They have become a viral sensation and are known for their Hidden Beach, at the end of a tunnel that goes through from the sea side to an inner crater with a white sand beach. It's a natural island/beach formation and has become so popular that public tours have stopped and you must ask for permission and participate through authorized and numbered tours. Most tours take off from either Puerto Vallarta or Punta Mita.

Marietas Islands Bahia Alegre Puerto Vallarta Islas Marietas Tours
Marietas Islands Bahia Alegre Puerto Vallarta Islas Marietas Tours with crystal clear waters and sandy beaches, the origins of this idyllic paradise comes as a surprise - it is in fact the world's most picturesque bomb site.
This secluded strip of sand is believed to have formed decades ago when it was used as target practice by the Mexican Government in the early 1900s.
But where you might expect to find ruins and devastation, here there is a sensational, deserted beach on the Marieta Islands in Puerto Vallarta.
the Hidden Beach, officially called Playa De Amor, or the 'Beach of Love', has shot to fame after gaining a huge following across social media.
To reach the secluded marvel, visitors have to swim through a short tunnel which opens up into the spectacular beach, which is surrounded by rare wildlife.
Ventura Osorio, who is one the main people responsible for making Marietas Islands a international HIT!!! and made the Islas Marietas famous to the world with his powerful social media and who provides tours to the Hidden Beach, said the islands were formed thousands of years ago by volcanic rock activity.
Ventura, 34, from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, explained: 'The beach itself was most likely formed prior to the First World War since the Mexican government had been using the islands as target practice. These controlled bombings have been said to have formed numerous caves and other unique rock formations on the Marietas Islands.
'It is believed that the Hidden Beach was created as a result of these factors combined with the erosion of the rocks surrounding it due to the local weather conditions.'
Spectacular wildlife including humpback whales, dolphins and manta rays are just some of the stunning marine life visitors get to enjoy when at the beach.
It has been discovered and become a popular destination to visit after going viral on social networking site like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
Mr Ventura added: 'Without social media, the hidden beach would just be another beach waiting to be discovered by the world. This beach became famous around the world through Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Tumblr, Pinterest, Instagram, you name it.
'Puerto Vallarta is a very popular tourist destination in Mexico and now that there is awareness, the amount of visitors the hidden beach receives had gown astronomically.'
