Titanic's Lounge Panel - Maritime Museum of the Atlantic (Halifax, NS)
I've been dying to see this piece in Halifax for years - when I finally get there, I find out the piece is on loan to a museum in my home area! Check out this video we made talking with Douglas Robb, a woodcarver at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic on how they are creating an accurate stand-in for the piece.
The Lounge Panel was a large chunk of wood found floating in the water and picked up by one of the body ships (likely the Mackay-Bennet; I may be mistaken). This was also the piece James Cameron put Rose on in the 1997 film, which is often mistaken as a door.
Be sure to visit the Maritime Museum when you're in the Halifax area!

The Wreck of the SS ATLANTIC - Halifax, NS 1873
The SS Atlantic wrecked on the rocks of Lower Prospect in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1873. The story is nearly forgotten. We do our best to tell the story of the sinking, the worst disaster on the North Atlantic in the 1800's, and the first disaster for the White Star Line.
Technically, this is Historical Telegrams, Episode 4, but we want this video to also stand on its own and be used to independently promote the SS Atlantic Heritage Park, so we aren't including the episode number in the title.
This was made in cooperation with the SS Atlantic Heritage Park Society and the Titanic Society of Atlantic Canada.
