Rock Choir - Christa's Crew sing Only You in Mary Stevens Park, Stourbridge (28-07-19)
On Sunday 28th July 2019, members of the Stourbridge, Kidderminster, Bromsgrove & Redditch Rock Choirs (aka Christa's Crew) gathered for their big end of RC year gig. Taking over the bandstand in Mary Stevens Park, Stourbridge for the afternoon, instead of the heatwave of the week before it rained - a lot! It was kind of appropriate though as it was Christa's last gig with us before leaving for a sabbatical and the weather was much the same as our very first gig in Rugely back in 2012!
It was one of the longest gigs that Christa's Crew has undertaken and shows how far they've come under Christa's expert guidance over the last 7 years. It was an emotional day for all concerned, but both the choir and all the soloists put on a fabulous performance for the audience that braved the rain. It's goodbye .... but not the end - end of part 1 if you like. We will be back with a new caretaker leader for the next two terms, counting down to our next gig with Christa.
Thank you so much for your hard work and dedication; taking us to Birmingham Symphony Hall, Birmingham NEC, Wembley Stadium, the Edinburgh Festival, recording at both Abbey Road Studios, and Angel Studios in London and performing on Britain's Got Talent with Susan Boyle & Michael Ball. It's been an honour and a pleasure and we will miss you greatly.

Mary Stevens Park Band Stand Restoration.
Mary Stevens Park Band Stand Restoration. I took a few videos of the restoration work on the band stand as it went on. The band stand started to look tired the cast iron pillars were rusting away and some of the plaques that displayed the Stourbridge coat of arms round the outside had either fallen apart or been broken off. Thanks to the Heritage Lottery Fund and Big Lottery Fund Dudley MBC have organised this work to be carried out. I hope from my videos you can see this take shape altough I did not catch it from the start.
