Poznań Old Town is a central neighbourhood of the city of Poznań in western Poland, covering the area of the walled medieval city of Poznań. It is called Stare Miasto in Polish (although that name may also refer to the wider administrative district of Stare Miasto, which to most of the city centre and northern parts of the city). A row of merchants' houses (domki budnicze), dating from the 16th century, painted in a multicoloured design (1953-1961), with an arcade containing souvenir stalls, facing east. One of the houses (no. 17) displays the coat of arms -- a herring and three palms -- of the merchants' guild from which the houses take their name. The former town chancellery, adjoining the merchants' houses, facing south. The old town weighing house (Waga Miejska), behind the Town Hall, facing north. This was first built 1532-1534, reconstructed 1563, demolished as unsafe in 1890 (replaced by a Renaissance-style New Town Hall used by the city government, heavily damaged in 1945), rebuilt in its former style in 1950-1960 based on surviving prints, renovated in 2002, now used for weddings and other functions. The guardhouse (Odwach), facing west, originally an 18th-century wooden building, rebuilt in Classical style in 1783-1787, heavily damaged in 1945, rebuilt 1949-1951 and used as a museum. It now houses a museum dedicated to the Greater Poland Uprising (1918--1919). The Arsenał gallery, a postwar building (1959-1962), standing on the site of a former market building which was used as an arsenal from the 17th century, and was destroyed in 1945.

The Old Town is centred on Stary Rynek, the Old Market Square where the historic Poznań Town Hall(Ratusz) stands. It represents the glory of Poznań, from its foundation in 1253. One of Town Hall's towers hosts 2 small billy goats, which are butting their heads everyday at noon. At the western end of the Old Town is the Przemysł Hill (Góra Przemysła) on which the King's castle once stood. The medieval Royal Castle in Poznań has been reconstructed between 2011 and 2016.
The city walls were taken down when the city expanded in the early 19th century, but the street layout of the Old Town still corresponds closely to that of the former protected city, with a grid of narrow streets. Surviving fragments of the walls, some of which have been further reconstructed, can be seen on Stawna Street, Ludgardy Street, next to Chopin Park in the south of the Old Market Square and best parts are on Masztalarska street in the north.
Poznań Old Town is listed as one of Poland's official national Historic Monuments (Pomnik historii), as designated November 28, 2008, along with other portions of the city's historic core. Its listing is maintained by the National Heritage Board of Poland.[1]

The Ducal Castle in Szczecin, Poland, was the seat of the dukes of Pomerania-Stettin of the House of Pomerania, who ruled the Duchy of Pomerania from 1121 to 1637. Barnim the Great of Pomerania-Stettin erected the castle within Szczecin's walls against the will of the burghers in 1346. An older Pomeranian burgh had been leveled in 1249. In 1490 the castle was partially reconstructed for Bogusław X's wedding with Anna Jagiellonka (daughter of king Casimir IV Jagiellon). Between 1573−1582 the castle was rebuilt again, this time in the mannerist style for duke John Frederick by Italian stonemasons according to design by Wilhelm Zachariasz Italus. Two new wings were added to close the courtyard before the medieval southern and eastern wings. The main gate was adorned with ducal crest, the eastern wing was enhanced and the northern wing was intended for chapel. In 1648, due to the tenets of the Peace of Westphalia, the castle become a seat of Swedish governor. Before 1705 another reconstruction occurred to prepare the castle for Queen of Poland - Catherine Opalińska, who lived here with her daughters Anna and Marie Leszczyńska (future Queen of France) and a small court between 1705-1711. In 1711 king Stanisław Leszczyński, who sought refuge before chasing him Saxon and Russian forces, joined his wife and daughters at the castle. After the Great Northern War, in 1720, the city of Szczecin become a Prussian property and the castle was allocated to the garrison commander Christian August, Prince of Anhalt-Zerbst, whose daughter was Sophie Friederike Auguste (future Catherine II of Russia). Under Prussian rule in the 19th century many renaissanse elements in the castle were devastated (arcades, attics, vaulting). Eventually about 60% of the castle was destroyed during World War II (August 1944). Shortly after the war between 1958-1980, it was rebuilt with some modifications. The castle was restored to its original 16th century appearance according to 1653 engraving by Matthäus Merian (among others).

Toruń is a historical city in north-central Poland. The city is the birthplace of the famous astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus. The old town (Stare Miasto) of Toruń is also an UNESCO heritage sight which we visit on this walk.
We start our walk near the Old Town Hall at the Nicolaus Copernicus Monument. From there we walk around the main square with the baroque Holy Spirit Church. Some festival installations for the Bella Skyways event are in the city which we visited on another walk at night (
We visit some other church and head outside of the old city walls into parks, see the medieval leaning tower and the Vistula River. We get back to the centre through the medival Gate Of The Holy Spirit and enjoy walking further around before we end this tour.

Toruń,Poland was founded by the Teutonic Order, in the 13th century. The unique spatial layout of Toruń has remained unchanged for 700 years.
During the Middle Ages it developed a commercial role as part of the Hanseatic League. In the Old and New Town, imposing buildings from the 14th and 15th centuries (among them the house of Copernicus) are striking evidence of Toruń's rich past.
A Gothic town hall built in the late 14th century is the centrepiece of Torun’s old town. It is one of the biggest brick buildings of its kind in Europe. For centuries, it was the administrative and commercial hub of the city; it was near here that fairs were held, tribute was paid to the rulers, knights fought in tournaments, and the condemned were publically executed. Today, the building houses a district museum, where visitors can see local handicraft and Polish paintings from the 19th and 20th centuries.
One of the medieval tenements from the second half of the 15th century houses the Home of Nicolaus Copernicus, the astronomer who proved that the Earth does not sit at the centre of universe, but rather orbits the sun along with other planets.
Torun’s medieval city walls are the oldest in Poland. Their first section dates back to 1246-62. Almost from its very beginnings, the city was surrounded by two rings of defence walls separated by a wet moat. A single wall was only built along the Vistula riverside. A three-kilometre long section of Torun’s city walls had 54 towers, 12 gates and two barbicans proper. Nine towers and three gates have survived to this day.
An old Teutonic castle was part of the city’s defences alongside high walls, towers, and gates. Today, it is a favourite site for walks, theatre performances, and music concerts.
An attractive walking route is also Podmurna Street, Torun’s longest medieval street. This cobbled road is full of charming nooks and historic monuments. The street begins near the moat and the Burgher House, and weaves its way next to an historic granary, the Feline Head tower, and the Mint Gate.
Its 15-metre-high Leaning Tower constructed at the turn of the 14th century is inclined like the famous Tower of Pisa.

Christmas Market in Krakow, Poland 2019 - The Best in Europe!
Today we are going back to the roots, our home city of Krakow.
Krakow’s Christmas Market takes place in the Main Market Square, which also happens to be one of the biggest squares in Europe.
We also tried the sourdough bread with meat and vegetables but we also highly recommend oscypek which is smoked sheep cheese from the south of Poland, Polish Pierogi, and potato pancakes.
While here we also check out the Christmas tree in the square, as well as the different stalls to see what types of things you can buy at the Krakow Christmas Market.

Poznań Town Hall or Ratusz is a historic building in the city of Poznań in western Poland, located at the Poznań Old Town in the centre of Old Market Square (Stary Rynek). It used to serve as the Seat of local government until 1939, and now houses a museum. The town hall was originally built in the late 13th century following the founding of the medieval city in 1253; it was rebuilt in roughly its present-day form, in mannerist style, with an ornate loggia, by Giovanni Battista di Quadro in 1550–1560. The display of mechanical fighting goats, played out daily at noon above the clock on the front wall of the building, is one of the city's main tourist attractions.
London's lost view: the Pierre Prévost panorama
Take a closer look at this stunning 20 feet wide panorama of London, painted around 1815 by the French artist Pierre Prévost.
Painted as the Napoleonic Wars drew to a close, the panorama is provides a 360° view of London as the Duke of Wellington would have known it. Looking from the tower of St Margaret’s, the church situated in the shadow of Westminster Abbey, we are presented with a sweeping view over a sunlit city. Dominating the foreground is the Abbey and the old Palace of Westminster (the Houses of Parliament), which burnt down in 1834 and includes the medieval House of Lords Chamber, target of the failed Gunpowder Plot of 1605.

Years ago, Bartek Styszyński sold his home and started building siege engines. Today, 10 of them stand tall and fierce behind Malbork Castle's walls.
