Meenuliyan Para (മീനുളിയന്‍ പാറ) is a mountain peak situated near Thodupuzha in Idukki district, in the Indian state of Kerala. Meenuliyan para is noted for a huge rock that rises more than 4000 feet and has about two acres of evergreen forest on top of it; the rock itself covers an area more than 500 acres. The surface of this huge rock mountain looks like fish scales and hence the mountain gets the name ‘ Meenuliyan Para’ the lofty peaks of the Meenuliyan para are covered in mist on rainy days but on a fine day the lower Periyar area, Bhoothathankettu and even Ernakulam are visible from these heights. Meenuliyan para is located 47 km from Muvattupuzha and 35 km from Thodupuzha. Meenuliyan para can be reached only by a pedestrian path for about 3 km from Pattayakkudy, in Vannappuram Panchayath in Idukki district. Cochin Port and parts of Thrissur district can also be seen from top of the Meenuliyan para.

കേരളത്തിലെ ഇടുക്കി ജില്ലയിൽ തൊടുപുഴയ്ക്ക് സമീപമുള്ള ഒരു മലനിരയാണ് മീനുളിയൻ പാറ അഥവാ മീനുളിയൻ പാറ മലയാളം ഭാഷയിലുള്ള 'പാര' ഒരു പാറ എന്നാണ്. 4000 അടിക്ക് മുകളിലുള്ള ഒരു വലിയ പാറയ്ക്ക് മീനുളിയൻ പാരാ എന്നത് രണ്ട് ഏക്കർ നിത്യഹരിത വനത്തിലുണ്ട്. 500 ഏക്കർ വിസ്തീർണമുള്ള ഒരു പാറയാണ് ഇത്. ഈ വലിയ പാറയുടെ ഉപരിതല മത്സ്യം മീൻ സ്കെയിലുകളായതിനാൽ മീനുലിയൻ പാരാ എന്ന പേര് മലയിരിക്കും. മീനുലിയൻ പാരായണത്തിന്റെ ഉയരം കൂടിയാണ് മഴക്കാലത്ത് മൂടിക്കെട്ടിയത്. എന്നാൽ താഴ്ന്ന പെരിയാർ ഭാഗത്തേയും ഭൂതത്താൻകെട്ടുപോലും എറണാകുളംപോലും ഈ ഉയരങ്ങളിൽ നിന്ന് കാണാൻ കഴിയും. മൂവാലിപുഴയിൽ നിന്ന് 47 കി മീ അകലെയും തൊടുപുഴയിൽ നിന്ന് 51 കി മീ അകലെയുമാണ് മീനുളിയൻ പാറ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്. ഇടുക്കി ജില്ലയിലെ വണ്ണപ്പുറം പഞ്ചായത്തിൽ പറ്റയക്കുടിയിൽ നിന്ന് ഏകദേശം 3 കിലോമീറ്റർ സഞ്ചരിച്ചാൽ മീനുളിയൻ പാറയിൽ എത്താം. കൊച്ചി തുറമുഖവും തൃശൂർ ജില്ലയുടെ ഭാഗങ്ങളും മീനുളിയൻ പാറയുടെ മുകളിൽ നിന്നും കാണാവുന്നതാണ്

Meenuliyanpara is a beautiful mountain peak in #Idukki district situated in a small village named pattayakudi at a distance of 36 kms from Thodupuzha in Kerala. The surface of this huge rock mountain, This wonderful greenish location with small streams and wild trees offers you a misty and airy atmosphere to the visitors. On the way to the mountain peak, one can experience the beauty of three waterfalls joining to form one big waterfall and lower periyar.
Adventurous tourism is the main attraction of this hilly area. Trekking and climbing the mountain are a lot encouraged here. As the roads to the mountain peak are less travelled, tourists can enjoy exploring the undiscovered paths. It is easy to climb the mountain under any climate. Monsoon is the best season to visit the place, since it adds more beauty to the adventurous tourism. Small streams at different locations in the hillock region flowing down to reach a river is an exciting sight that one can enjoy only at monsoons.
There is a small forest area at the top of the hillrock with tall trees. Getting to the top of the mountain peak is highly risky, but once you reach you can view suicide point and streams flowing between the mountains. Mist moving through the valleys touching the mountain is another enchanting beauty offered by ‘meenuliyaanpaara .

Meenuliyan para is noted for a huge rock that rises more than 4000 feet and has about two acres of evergreen forest on top of it. The rock itself covers an area more than 500 acres. The surface of this huge rock mountain looks like fish scales and hence the mountain gets the name.Meenuliyan para can be reached only by a pedestrian path for about 3 km from Pattayakkudy, in Vannappuram Panchayath in Idukki district

ഇടുക്കിയിൽ സഞ്ചാരികളുടെ ലിസ്റ്റിൽ ഇനിയും കയറിപ്പറ്റാത്ത നൂറുകണക്കിനിടങ്ങളുണ്ട്. അതിലൊന്നാണ് പാൽക്കുളമേട് എന്ന സ്വർഗ്ഗഭൂമി. സമുദ്ര നിരപ്പിൽ നിന്നും 3200 ft ഉയരത്തിൽ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന പാൽക്കുളമേട് ഇടുക്കി കാഴ്ചകളിൽ ഒരിക്കലും മിസ് ചെയ്യരുതാതത് ഇടമാണ്.. എന്തുകൊണ്ടാണെന്നല്ലേ?


അപ്രതീക്ഷിതമായി ആനയിറങ്ങി വരുന്ന വഴികളും വെള്ളച്ചാട്ടങ്ങളും ഇടുക്കിയുടെ മൊത്തത്തിലുള്ള കാഴ്ചയും കുന്നുകൾ മറയ്ക്കുന്ന ആകാശക്കാഴ്ചകളും പുൽമേടുകളും ഇടതടവില്ലാതെ വീശിയടിക്കുന്ന തണുത്ത കാറ്റും ഒക്കെയുള്ള ഇവിടം ഇടുക്കിയെ പ്രണയിക്കുന്നവർ എങ്ങനെയാണ് കാണാതിരിക്കുക. മുകളിൽ കയറിയാൽ പിന്നെ സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിലെത്തിയ പോലെയാണ്. കോടമഞ്ഞിന്റെ കാഴ്ചകളിൽ ഒളിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന പച്ചപ്പും കണ്ണെത്താത്ത ദൂരത്തിലുള്ള കാഴ്ചകളും വെള്ളച്ചാട്ടങ്ങളും ഓഫ് റോഡും പാറക്കെട്ടും ഒക്കെ ഒരു സഞ്ചാരിയെ ഈ സ്ഥലത്തിന്റെ ആരാധകനാക്കും എന്നതിൽ ഒരു സംശയവുമില്ല. പാൽക്കുളമേടിന് ആ പേരു വന്നത് ഇവിടുത്തെ ഭൂപ്രകൃതി കൊണ്ടാണ്. കുന്നിന്റെ മുകളിലെ വെള്ളച്ചാട്ടവും അത് പതിക്കുന്ന കുളവും ചേരുമ്പോൾ ഇവിടം പാല്‌ പതഞ്ഞൊഴുകുന്ന ഇടം പോലെയാകുമത്രെ. അങ്ങനെയാണ് ഇവിടം പാൽക്കുളമേട് എന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്നത്. തൊടുപുഴ വണ്ണപുറം കഞ്ഞിക്കുഴി വഴിയോ ചെറുതോണി ചുരുളി വഴിയോ പാൽകുലമേട്ടിൽ എത്താം....

Palkulamedu is one of the highest peaks in idukki. Palkulamedu is a hill station located 3200ft above sea level which offers beautiful view of nearby towns . It is about 13 km from Idukki .It will pleases the eyes with the greenery all around and offers breathtaking view of the surrounding area from such a height.

A small fresh water pool at the top of the hill adds up another jewel to the enchanting beauty. Palkulamedu is one of the most Ideal trekking locations in Idukki. It is an ideal destination for adventure makers and trekkers. The beauty of Palkulamedu is indescribable and it offers the perfect ambiance of the nature. The view of Periyar valley from the peak is admirable.
Travellers can reach Palkulamedu from Churali , a small town just 8 Km away from Cheruthony on Adimali route.

• Palkulamedu is highly fertile for wild elephants, so its advisable to take necessary precautions

• The best season is to trek is after the Monsoons

• It is always advisable to get a local guide before proceeding the trek to Palkulamedu.

• Highest Altitude : 3200 ft Meters above sea level, GPS : 9.9243, 76.9339

• Surroundings : This is the major peak and all hills around is much lower when compared.

• Watch out: The winds are strong at the peak, and never do the trekking rains due to risk of accident from lightning
