Merced Theatre
The Merced Theatre opened on October 31st , 1931 with the world premier of Local Boy Makes Good staring Joe E. Brown. The building was constructed over the previous nine months at a cost of $380,000.00. For the next 47 years it would serve the Merced community in a wide variety of ways including concerts, graduations, dance performances, weddings and of course, movies. It was and still is treasured by the people of Merced County. The Tower is the most recognized landmark in Merced.
The Theatre was designed by the Reid Brothers , prestigious architects from San Francisco for the Golden State Theatre Corporation, and boasted 1,645 seats with the first air conditioning for any building in the County. The City of Merced had a population of only 7,066 at the time. We believe the Theatre is the last project completed by the Reid Brothers as one of them died 3 months after the opening. The Theatre building includes five retail spaces and ten second-floor apartments on the Main Street frontage.
What made the Theatre so special was the Theatre's in
In 2002 the City of Merced Redevelopment Agency purchased the Theatre Building. Since that time the Merced Theatre Foundation has leased the Theatre from the City and is responsible for day to day operations. Theatre two remained operational for several years and the Foundation held monthly movies and other events by arrangement.
Funding for this Project has been provided in part by the California Cultural and Historical Endowment.

WHY MERCED?
One of the fastest growing cities in California, Merced is a true definition of a City on the Rise. Developments such as - UC Merced, the newest University of California campus - receiving a $1 BILLION expansion grant which will increase enrollment to 30,000 by 2030. The Downtown Merced Revitalization, bringing restoration to El Capitan Hotel, Tioga Apartments, and Mainzer Theater - which will soon be a boutique hotel, multi-use retail/ apartments, and an entertainment venue. respectively. Bitwise, Google's Waygo, Hilton, and the Mall improvements all prove that growth in our town is inevitable.
That growth will be led by local entrepreneurs that have decided to open up shop in Merced, Ca. Those, like myself, who may have left, learned, and returned to add value to the town that raised them. Their stories are inspiring. Their stories have meaning. Their stories deserve to be heard!
Who am I?
I am a Local Realtor that serves Merced, Atwater, Winton, Madera, Turlock. I was raised here. After high school graduation, I couldn't wait to get out of my small town. Looking back, I am so grateful I did as it only serves in my purposeful return. I first got into Real Estate Development as a Leasing Agent when I was 18 years old. For the next 8 years, I worked in Property Management, Affordable Housing, Multi-Family Acquisitions, and Market Rate for an amazing developer who added so much value to the Greater Los Angeles Area. I obtained my Bachelor's Degree in Business, emphasis in Marketing from California State University, Dominguez Hills.
In 2018, family unexpectedly brought my home. I decided to take a risk, became self-employed, and start my own real estate business in my rapidly growing hometown. While developing my own business and assisting buyers and sellers invest in our neighborhoods, I was exposed to an even greater purpose.
Spotlighting the growth I was observing in my community - through video - in order to shift the narrative we once had on our small town.
I post weekly videos in my segment called #MercedMonday which spotlight local businesses, entrepreneur,or development. I also post Real Estate Tips and discussions in a segment called #RealTalkThursdays.

UC Merced Theatre and Social Responsibility (Arts 115) Present Voices of the Revolutionary Theatre Collective
Slanguage by Flaco Steven, Mildred Lemon, & Gamal (Universes)
Lawrence Van Gelder of the New York Times describes Slanguage as: ...the underground rattlers, where the beggar, the battery seller, and the religious rile the riders; to the streets, where walking is attitude; and to the tenements, where domestic disputes leave babies dead. But God is here, too, and Ali and Jack Keroac and the great Puerto Rican migration and Dr. Seuss; so along with the politics of dislocation and classrooms come fun and a feverish joy of language.
