Meroogal Nowra NSW Historic Home
The Meroogal has barely changed since it was built in the 1880s, the distinctive ‘Carpenter Gothic’ house has been loved and maintained by four generations of Thorburn and MacGregor women. The house still overflows with their belongings – favourite books and ornaments, furniture, photographs, diaries and journals, newspaper clippings, receipts and recipes, appliances and clothes. It is now maintained by the NSW Historica Houses Trust and is open to the public.

The wonderful Berry Museum is situated right in the heart of Berry. The Museum offers great insight into the early life in Berry and surrounds.

Glenrock – Nestled high on the southern side of Saddleback Mountain, with breathtaking views of Seven Mile Beach. Amid glens of volcanic glacial rocks and sub-tropical rainforest, a home stands which enjoys its magnificent surroundings.
Through perseverance, Glenrock was established, improved and stands as one of the renowned conservation properties on the south coast of NSW.

From days of scarcity to abundance, the simple to the grandiose, the toil of servants 'below stairs' to the theatre of a lavish Victorian banquet, we explore lost and forgotten practices, ingredients and techniques, manners and etiquette, tastes and trends.

Kangaroo Valley Pioneer Settlement Museum and Park
Next to the Valley's historic Hampden Bridge Pioneer Settlement Museum and Park is a collection of buildings, farm machinery, house and personal items collected from the 19th century.
The display of artefacts and photographs depict families from the Valley and show how early settlers and pioneers lived, worked and played.

The current owners bought the property as a weekend getaway from Sydney.
Having a young family and busy Sydney lives, we really wanted a place we could escape to and spend quality time with families and friends. We often have three or four families staying here over weekends and holidays. The place is so well equipped it's more like a resort!
The kids love the bunkroom and play outside all day. In summer, we build huge slip and slides and bonfires in the winter. It has been great for us all.
My wife loves to cook and there is a large country kitchen where everyone pitches in or we barbecue by the pool. It's been nice to have that special time with family and friends.
The house began as one of the original slab farming cottages of the area more than 100 years ago. The house itself is just so interesting, say the owners. You can see that each generation has added to the home's character, increasing the comforts without destroying the history.
The original cottage is now the living area -- completely lined with big rustic red cedar panels. There is a main bedroom with ensuite bathroom, two more double bedrooms and a bunkroom like an old ship's cabin that sleeps eight in timber bunks.
There are two additional bathrooms and a large country kitchen well set up to cater for a crowd. Water is supplied via a spring-fed tank. The natural spring in the rainforest is just beautiful, say the owners. It's quite a luxury to have access to that type of water supply.
The house is set in fully fenced beautiful gardens of established trees, including many fruit trees and a central pond that attracts many of the native birds of the area.
The separate one-bedroom cottage is fully self-contained and private from the main house. It has separate driveway access and has been let out as holiday accommodation in the past by previous owners. It was the original dairy that was completely restored from the ground up and is now a beautiful authentic little cottage, say the owners.
There is a fantastic community here in Berry and we have always been made to feel so welcome and offered a helping hand. It really has been a different life for us.
We're only 10 minutes from Berry town and 20 minutes from the beach, so in summer it is easy to head down to Gerroa or Gerringong in the morning for a swim, then back up the hill to lay by the pool in the afternoon.
We hope to hand this special place on to people who will love it as much as we have.
