Rising Sea Level
The Rockefeller Foundation is funding a $4.6 Million dollar grant to help the Bay Area pay for 10 projects to deal with rising sea levels that are expected to increase by six-to-nine feet over the next 100 years. The Resilient by Design/Bay Area Challenge is spear-headed by MTC, the Association of Bay Area Governments, the Bay Area Air Quality Management District, and the Bay Conservation and and Development Commission. The long range plan to deal with Rising Sea levels in the Bay area was announced one day before the President of the United States declared the US would withdraw from the Paris Climate Change Treaty.
Mark Jones was there as the Rockefeller Foundation grant was announced along the shore of Oakland at the Middle Harbor Shoreline Park.

San Francisco plans how to combat future flooding

13. SOUNDBITE (English) Matthew Heberger, Research Associate, The Pacific Institute:
Well what we think what you are going to see is increased flooding, particularly during these rare events. We often talk about the 100 year flood, which has a 1 percent chance of occurring in any given year. And so people who weren't in the floodplain in the past are going to see increased flooding and people who were previously not exposed to risk are going to find themselves suddenly at risk. We have 1000 miles (1600 kilometres) of coast along the Pacific in California, another 1000 miles (1600 kilometres) around San Francisco Bay, and particularly here in the bay is where some of the impacts are the most pronounced.

17. SOUNDBITE (English) Matthew Heberger, Research Associate, The Pacific Institute:
So when you are thinking about a structure with a 30 or a 50 year life span, you know that in 30 years from now or 50 years from now it needs to be able to withstand higher wave heights, potential for flooding, things like that. And cities and counties that are responsible for land use planning along the coast are really being directed by the state and by the courts to take sea level rise and the potential for future flooding into account as they are developing city plans, general plans, land use planning, zoning all of these things. So it's becoming much more mainstream amongst planners, architects and engineers in California.

There are a number of studies being done around the bay that are looking at sea level rise being led by the Bay Conservation Development Commission, who is working with other regional agencies to look at the inundation that will occur in a rise in sea level. We have been looking at those studies and we've commissioned our own study to look at what it's going to look like on the waterfront at 2050 and 2100. So we're relying on that information and trying to plan for that as we go forward.

How No Swimmers Noticed Toddler Drowning At Crowded Water Park Wave Pool
A heroic, eagle-eyed lifeguard came to the rescue of a 3-year-old swimmer that was drowning - and no one around the child even noticed what was happening. At Whirlin' Waters Adventure Park, a wave pool in North Charleston, South Carolina, a little girl was struggling and a lifeguard sprung to action. In a video of the rescue, people were swimming next to the girl, but don't appear to notice what's happening to her.

Driving Over Mackinac Bridge, MI
Driving I75 (Interstate 75) Over Mackinac Bridge, MI In Route To St. Ignace, Michigan
Mackinac City is on right as we approach the bridge.
Mackinaw City /ˈmækᵻnɔː ˈsɪti/ is a village in Emmet and Cheboygan counties in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 806 at the 2010 census; the population surges during the summer tourist season, including an influx of tourists and seasonal workers who serve in the shops, hotels and other recreational facilities there and in the surrounding region. Mackinaw City is at the northern tip (headland) of the Michigan's Lower Peninsula along the southern shore of the Straits of Mackinac. Across the straits lies the state's Upper Peninsula. These two land masses are physically connected by the Mackinac Bridge, which runs from Mackinaw City north to St. Ignace. Mackinaw City is also the primary base for ferry service to Mackinac Island, located to the northeast in the straits.
According to AAA's 2009 TripTik requests, Mackinaw City is the most popular tourist city in the state of Michigan. Local attractions include Fort Michilimackinac, the Mackinac Bridge, the Mackinaw Crossings shopping mall, Mill Creek, the Old Mackinac Point Light, the Historic Village, the McGulpin Point Light, and the retired US Coast Guard Icebreaker Mackinaw.
The official name of the community is The Village of Mackinaw City and as that suggests, it is a village by state law. Mackinaw City is governed by the General Law Village Act, Public Act No. 3, of 1895, as amended. The downtown district and much of the development lie within Mackinaw Township, Cheboygan County, but the larger portion of the village by area is in Wawatam Township, Emmet County, which borders Mackinaw Township to the west.
More Info Here:
The Mackinac Bridge (/ˈmækᵻnɔː/ MAK-in-aw) is a suspension bridge spanning the Straits of Mackinac to connect the Upper and Lower peninsula of the U.S. state of Michigan. Opened in 1957, the 26,372-foot (8.038 km) bridge (familiarly known as Big Mac and Mighty Mac) is the world's 17th-longest main span and the longest suspension bridge between anchorages in the Western hemisphere. The Mackinac Bridge is part of Interstate 75 and the Lakes Michigan and Huron components of the Great Lakes Circle Tours across the straits; it is also a segment of the U.S. North Country National Scenic Trail. The bridge connects the city of St. Ignace on the north end with the village of Mackinaw City on the south.
Envisioned since the 1880s, the bridge was designed by the engineer David B. Steinman and completed in 1957 only after many decades of struggles to begin construction
The bridge opened on November 1, 1957,[4] connecting two peninsulas linked for decades by ferries. A year later, the bridge was formally dedicated as the world's longest suspension bridge between anchorages, allowing a superlative comparison to the Golden Gate Bridge, which had a longer center span between towers, and the San Francisco–Oakland Bay Bridge, which had an anchorage in the middle.
It remains the longest suspension bridge with two towers between anchorages in the Western Hemisphere.[3] Much longer anchorage-to-anchorage spans have been built in the Eastern Hemisphere, including the Akashi Kaikyō Bridge in Japan (12,826 ft or 3,909 m). But the long leadups to the anchorages on the Mackinac make its total shoreline-to-shoreline length of 5 miles (8 km) longer than the Akashi-Kaikyo (2.4 mi or 3.9 km).
The length of the bridge's main span is 3,800 feet (1,158 m), which makes it the third-longest suspension span in the United States and 17th longest suspension span worldwide. It is also one of the world's longest bridges overall.
More Info Here:
Saint Ignace, usually written as St. Ignace, is a city at the southern tip of the Upper Peninsula of the U.S. state of Michigan, bordering the Straits of Mackinac. The population was 2,452 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Mackinac County.[6] For travelers coming from the Lower Peninsula, St. Ignace is the gateway to the northern part of the state.
St. Ignace Township is located just to the north of the city, but is politically independent.
Located in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, St. Ignace is at the northern end of the Mackinac Bridge and Mackinaw City is the southern end.
One-third of the population of the city identified as Native American. The Mackinac Bands of Chippewa and Ottawa Indians, a state recognized tribe, is headquartered at St. Ignace, and has bands in several other counties in the region. In addition, the large federally recognized Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians owns and operates a casino on its land in St. Ignace, as well as in four other cities in northern Michigan.

10 Missing Persons Cases with Strange Sightings
Whenever someone goes missing and their disappearance garners a lot of publicity, it’s inevitable that investigators will be flooded with tips from eyewitnesses claiming to have seen the victim. In most cases, these eyewitness sightings are never officially confirmed to be genuine, and it usually turns out that the witness saw someone else and mistook them for the missing person.
However, there are some cases in which eyewitnesses will provide specific details to make investigators believe that their sighting might be credible. While the following missing person’s cases are still unsolved, they all contain some very unusual eyewitness sightings that caused everyone to look at the case in a very different light.

Finding Good Crappie Fishing Spots
Jason made a point in the fall and winter to look for new crappie fishing spots with his electronics. He started in some productive arms of the lake and idled along break lines looking for brush piles with fish.
These creek channel edges are often where fishermen like to drop their brush piles. So Jason scanned with Lowrance HDS 3D Structure Scan for likely looking spots and brush piles until he found schools of crappie holding on them.
Once he saw a good school of fish on a brush pile, he stopped and fished it. He would cast a jig over the top, when they quit biting that, he would pitch to the piles from a closer distance, and finally he would get right on top of them and fish vertically on the pile.
He had one of the best fall/winter periods for crappie fishing in recent years by getting out and hunting for fish more with his electronics.
