Elephants in Sri Lanka at Millenium Elephant Foundation
Während meiner Reise durch Sri Lanka im November 2015 besuchte ich die Millenium Elephant Foundation, Randeniya, Hiriwadunna, Kegalle, Sri Lanka. Eigentlich bin ich dort zufällig gelandet denn ein Motor rickshaw Fahrer hat mich dort abgesetzt. Nicht zu viele Touristen und nah an einem kleinen Fluss, wo sich die Elefanten anscheinend ziemlich wohlfühlten. Mein ursprünglicher Plan war, das bekanntere Elefantenwaisenhaus Pinnawela zu besuchen.
Für dieses Video habe ich speziell ein Musikstück Elephant Walk komponiert und versucht, die Charakteristik oder Natur von Elefanten in Klänge zu verwandeln.

Millennium Elephant Foundation (MEF) ist eine Organisation und Wohltätigkeitsorganisation zur Rettung und Pflege von gefangenen asiatischen Elefanten in Sri Lanka. Die Stiftung befindet sich auf einem 15 Hektar großen Anwesen mit dem Namen Samaragiri, das 10 km nordwestlich von Kegalle in der Provinz Sabaragamuwa in Sri Lanka liegt. Ab 2014 gibt es 9 Elefanten, die sich entweder dauerhaft oder vorübergehend im Schutzgebiet aufhalten. Diese Elefanten werden von 13 lokalen Mahouts und einer Anzahl ausländischer Freiwilliger betreut.
Die Stiftung finanziert sich überwiegend aus Touristen- und Freiwilligengebühren. Dieses Geld wird verwendet, um die Bedingungen für die Elefanten am MEF zu entwickeln und zu verbessern, und um ein Bildungsprogramm für die Bauern und ihre Familien in Habarana durchzuführen.
During my trip to Sri Lanka in November 2015, I visited the Millenium Elephant Foundation, Randeniya, Hirivadunna, Kegalle, Sri Lanka. Actually I ended up there accidentally because a motor rickshaw driver dropped me off there. Not too many tourists and close to a small river where the elephants seem to feel pretty comfortable. My original plan was to visit the more famous elephant orphanage Pinnawela.
For this video I have specially composed a piece of music and tried to transform the characteristics or nature of elephants into sounds.

Millennium Elephant Foundation (MEF) is an organization and charity set up to rescue and care for captive Asian elephants in Sri Lanka. The foundation is situated on a 15 acre estate by the name of Samaragiri, which is located 10 km (6.2 mi) northwest of Kegalle, within the Sabaragamuwa Province of Sri Lanka. As of 2014 there are 9 elephants that either permanently or temporarily reside at the sanctuary. These elephants are taken care of by 13 local mahouts and a number of foreign volunteers.
The foundation is funded predominantly by tourists and volunteer fees. This money is used to develop and improve conditions for the elephants at MEF, as well as run an education program for farmers and their families in Habarana.

I was blessed with the opportunity to volunteer at The Millennium Elephant Foundation for one month in the summer of 2014. I worked with an elephant named Pooja, got to travel around the country, and met some amazing friends throughout my time there.

Elephant Riding at Habarana, Sri Lanka
Habarana is a small city in the Anuradhapura District of Sri Lanka. The city is famed for its chain of high class tourist resorts.
Habarana is a popular tourist destination for safari lovers as it is the starting point for safaris in the nearby Habarana jungle and the Minneriya sanctuary which is heavily populated by elephants. Elephant back riding is also an attraction in this small city. Habarana is situated nearby to the ancient rock fortress and castle/palace ruin of Sigiriya and is situated on the main road from Colombo to Trincomalee and Polonnaruwa. The population of the city is expected to be in the area of 5000-10,000.
The area has some of the best hotels in the country and the greenary and wild life has added value, making the location attractive for tourists. ( Source : Wikipedia - )

高纖維象糞造紙 環保象糞紙名揚國際 part3 地球的孤兒1001個故事
斯里蘭卡的大象收容中心旁邊，有一家造紙廠，業者突發奇想，利用象糞的高纖維成分，製成紙張。如此一來，不但幫收容中心，解決象糞的問題，也能少砍一些樹木，保護大象的棲地。剛開始賣象糞紙的想法，遭受不少冷嘲熱諷，現在，這張結合環保生態，還帶動地方發展的紙張，已經成為斯里蘭卡引以為傲的國寶。
