Sunshine chaff cutter at Millicent Museum
Test run of Sunshine chaff cutter at Millicent Museum after it's much needed restoration. It was driven off the Farmall H and was originally ordered new with a sunshine 7hp 2 stroke to drive it. It will soon be returned to it's spot with the water wheel. It needs a lot more work to get it to cut good chaff but it was a bit of fun and probably will not be used to cut chaff again.
Millicent Museums Deutscher hit and miss engine
Giving Millicent Museums Deutscher hit and miss petrol engine a run on its new trolley. It is running better but was a bit cantankerous to start. It is a bit worn in places but when running it seems to run sweet enough.

Jeannie Baker on creating 'Circle'
Jeannie Baker's latest picture book, Circle, comes to life in this remarkable travelling exhibition.
Each year, Bar-tailed Godwits (Limosa lapponica baueri) undertake the longest unbroken migration of any animal when they fly from their breeding grounds in Alaska to Australia and New Zealand. They follow invisible pathways in the sky, which they have followed for thousands of years.
In order to create Circle, Jeannie journeyed across the globe to observe Godwits – to the wild, remote landscapes of Alaska and then to China and South Korea. Her work conveys the sheer wonder of this giant migratory ‘circle of life’, but also reminds us to reflect on the importance of the world’s remaining wetlands.
The combination of exquisitely detailed and textured collages with the fascinating science of our natural world has created an exhibition celebrating the Godwit’s remarkable flight as it comes full circle.

SUMMARY
=======
Richard Cobden (3 June 1804 – 2 April 1865) was an English manufacturer and Radical and Liberal statesman, associated with two major free trade campaigns, the Anti-Corn Law League and the Cobden–Chevalier Treaty.
As a young man, Cobden was a successful commercial traveller who became co-owner of a highly profitable calico printing factory in Sabden but lived in Manchester, a city with which he would become strongly identified. However, he soon found himself more engaged in politics, and his travels convinced him of the virtues of free trade (anti-protection) as the key to better international relations.
In 1838, he and John Bright founded the Anti-Corn Law League, aimed at abolishing the unpopular Corn Laws, which protected landowners’ interests by levying taxes on imported wheat, thus raising the price of bread. As a Member of Parliament from 1841, he fought against opposition from the Peel ministry, and abolition was achieved in 1846.
Another free trade initiative was the Cobden-Chevalier Treaty of 1860, promoting closer interdependence between Britain and France. This campaign was conducted in collaboration with John Bright and French economist Michel Chevalier, and succeeded despite Parliament’s endemic mistrust of the French.

SUMMARY
=======
Rudolf Joseph Lorenz Steiner (27 (or 25) February 1861 – 30 March 1925) was an Austrian philosopher, social reformer, architect and esotericist. Steiner gained initial recognition at the end of the nineteenth century as a literary critic and published philosophical works including The Philosophy of Freedom. At the beginning of the twentieth century he founded an esoteric spiritual movement, anthroposophy, with roots in German idealist philosophy and theosophy; other influences include Goethean science and Rosicrucianism.In the first, more philosophically oriented phase of this movement, Steiner attempted to find a synthesis between science and spirituality. His philosophical work of these years, which he termed spiritual science, sought to apply the clarity of thinking characteristic of Western philosophy to spiritual questions, differentiating this approach from what he considered to be vaguer approaches to mysticism. In a second phase, beginning around 1907, he began working collaboratively in a variety of artistic media, including drama, the movement arts (developing a new artistic form, eurythmy) and architecture, culminating in the building of the Goetheanum, a cultural centre to house all the arts. In the third phase of his work, beginning after World War I, Steiner worked to establish various practical endeavors, including Waldorf education, biodynamic agriculture, and anthroposophical medicine.Steiner advocated a form of ethical individualism, to which he later brought a more explicitly spiritual approach. He based his epistemology on Johann Wolfgang Goethe's world view, in which Thinking… is no more and no less an organ of perception than the eye or ear. Just as the eye perceives colours and the ear sounds, so thinking perceives ideas. A consistent thread that runs from his earliest philosophical phase through his later spiritual orientation is the goal of demonstrating that there are no essential limits to human knowledge.
