Kayoi Komachi / Komachi Visited - HIGHLIGHTS
Kayoi Komachi / Komachi Visited (a noh chamber opera)
WORLD PREMIERE - October 26-28, 2017
The Cultch Historic Theatre - Vancouver BC.
A re-visioning of the story of the great poet Ono-no-Komachi and her lover Fukakusa-no-Shōsho, who haunted her even into death. Using parts of the text from the noh plays Kayoi Komachi and Sotoba Komachi combined with Komachi's poetry, this opera tells of a woman haunted by her past and coming into herself through her words. Kayoi Komachi/Komachi Visited integrates the music and aesthetics from both opera and noh, involving master artists from each tradition.

SUMMARY
=======
Japan (Japanese: 日本; Nippon [ɲippoɴ] or Nihon [ɲihoɴ]; formally 日本国 Nippon-koku or Nihon-koku, lit. State of Japan) is an island country in East Asia. Located in the Pacific Ocean, it lies off the eastern coast of the Asian continent and stretches from the Sea of Okhotsk in the north to the East China Sea and the Philippine Sea in the south.
The kanji that make up Japan's name mean sun origin, and it is often called the Land of the Rising Sun. Japan is a stratovolcanic archipelago consisting of about 6,852 islands. The four largest are Honshu, Hokkaido, Kyushu, and Shikoku, which make up about ninety-seven percent of Japan's land area and often are referred to as home islands. The country is divided into 47 prefectures in eight regions, with Hokkaido being the northernmost prefecture and Okinawa being the southernmost one. The population of 127 million is the world's tenth largest. Japanese make up 98.5% of Japan's total population. About 13.8 million people live in Tokyo, the capital of Japan. The Greater Tokyo Area is the most populous metropolitan area in the world with over 38 million people.Archaeological research indicates that Japan was inhabited as early as the Upper Paleolithic period. The first written mention of Japan is in Chinese history texts from the 1st century AD. Influence from other regions, mainly China, followed by periods of isolation, particularly from Western Europe, has characterized Japan's history.
From the 12th century until 1868, Japan was ruled by successive feudal military shōguns who ruled in the name of the Emperor. Japan entered into a long period of isolation in the early 17th century, which was ended in 1853 when a United States fleet pressured Japan to open to the West. After nearly two decades of internal conflict and insurrection, the Imperial Court regained its political power in 1868 through the help of several clans from Chōshū and Satsuma – and the Empire of Japan was established. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, victories in the First Sino-Japanese War, the Russo-Japanese War and World War I allowed Japan to expand its empire during a period of increasing militarism. The Second Sino-Japanese War of 1937 expanded into part of World War II in 1941, which came to an end in 1945 following the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and the Japanese surrender. Since adopting its revised constitution on May 3, 1947, during the occupation by the SCAP, the sovereign state of Japan has maintained a unitary parliamentary constitutional monarchy with an Emperor and an elected legislature called the National Diet.
Japan is a member of the ASEAN Plus mechanism, UN, the OECD, the G7, the G8 and the G20 – and is considered a great power. The country has the world's third-largest economy by nominal GDP and the world's fourth-largest economy by purchasing power parity. It is also the world's fourth-largest exporter and fourth-largest importer.
The country benefits from a highly skilled workforce and is among the most highly educated countries in the world, with one of the highest percentages of its citizens holding a tertiary education degree. Although Japan has officially renounced its right to declare war, it maintains a modern military with the world's eighth-largest military budget, used for self-defense and peacekeeping roles. It ranked as the world's fourth most-powerful military in 2015. Japan is a highly developed country with a very high standard of living and Human Development Index. Its population enjoys the highest life expectancy and the third lowest infant mortality rate in the world, but is experiencing issues due to an aging population and low birthrate. Japan is renowned for its historical and extensive cinema, influential music industry, anime, video gaming, rich cuisine and its major contributions to science and modern-day technology.

How many people can honestly say they own a 1/1 scale figure? I can! Tamayorihime is lovely! Amakuni did a really great job on this Lrig from Wixross. I'm really glad I changed my mind and decided to pick her up after all. And let me say this. I would not want to battoru with her as she would kick my ass for sure!
If you really want to see her topless, head on over to Toy Navi and have a look. Link is, of course, NSFW.

Street Fighter 4 [Arcade] - play as Gouken
This is a play-through using Gouken in the Arcade version of Street Fighter 4. Read on below for more information...
Gouken is a hidden boss in the game. He is a non-selectable character in this version of it.
===== About Gouken =====
Gouken is Ryu and Ken's master, and is the older brother and former training partner of Akuma. Gouken and Akuma were students under master Goutetsu.
Before he made his debut into SF4, Gouken was the most talked about legendary character in Street Fighter... which was the result of a mistranslation in one of Ryu's winning quotes in SF2 regarding his Dragon Punch, calling it Sheng Long instead. This caused rumors of such a character existing in SF2, and even led to April Fools jokes created by EGM magazine, depicting him appearing in SF2:WW and SF3:NG with doctored screenshots. Rather interestingly, these April Fool's images directly influenced Gouken's official character design in SF4.
Gameplay-wise, Gouken doesn't really play like a typical shoto... you feel like he SHOULD do, but he doesn't. He also has Akuma's Somersault move, but with a slight difference.
===== Additional Information =====
---- If you complete single-player mode with him, the game will freeze and lock up. This is because he has no ending programmed in.
---- His portrait image can appear on the character select screen perfectly.
---- His Rival opponent is Ryu, and he is fought against on the Training Stage background.
===== Gouken Trivia =====
---- The Chinese symbol/kanji on the back of his costume literally means nothing or nought or nil.
---- The Japanese voice actor for Gouken previously voiced Ryu in SF3:3S.
---- Gouken's two Ultra Combos (post-SF4) appeared in SF3:3S as two of Ryu's Super Arts.
---- Early on before the Alpha series, Gouken was depicted in various media to have been slain by M.Bison. Then in the Alpha series, it was changed to him being slain by Akuma. And then in SF4, is was changed again to him having a duel with Akuma, but surviving it.
---- In the ports of the SF4 games, one of his obtainable player titles says AKA Sheng Long.
---- One of his win quotes is a reference to the original Ryu Sheng Long quote in SF2, in which Gouken states: You must defeat me to stand a chance.
===== About Arcade SF4 =====
This is the very first version of SF4 which officially debuted into the arcades in 2008. The roster of characters is somewhat small, but that is to be expected for the first game of the series. The console ports featured an extra 6 characters - as well as Seth and Gouken being made into unlockable playable characters.
[ENGSUB] Tokyo Story (東京物語 )| 1953 | Ozu Yasujirō | 1080p Full Movie
Tokyo Story (東京物語) is a 1953 Japanese drama film directed by Yasujirō Ozu and starring Chishū Ryū and Chieko Higashiyama. It tells the story of an aging couple who travel to Tokyo to visit their grown children. The film contrasts the behavior of their children, who are too busy to pay them much attention, with that of their widowed daughter-in-law, who treats them with kindness.
Ozu and screenwriter Kōgo Noda wrote the script in 103 days, loosely basing it on the 1937 American film, Make Way for Tomorrow, directed by Leo McCarey. Noda suggested adapting the film, which Ozu had not yet seen. Ozu used many of the same cast and crew members that he had worked with for years. Released in Japan in 1953, it did not immediately gain international recognition and was considered too Japanese to be marketable by Japanese film exporters. It was screened in London in 1957 where it won the inaugural Sutherland Trophy the following year, and received praise from US film critics after a 1972 screening in New York City.
Tokyo Story is widely regarded as Ozu's masterpiece and is often cited as one of the greatest films ever made. In 2012, it was voted the best film of all time in a poll of film directors by Sight & Sound magazine.
