SLOW TRAVEL and why we chose KUNUNURRA as a base - FAMILY ADVENTURES in a 4WD rooftop tent
We are full-time travelling family who are discovering the world.
Watch as we continue our journey doing the big lap around Australia. In this video, we are stopping in Kununurra to explore the Kimberley.
See why we believe Kununurra is the top adventure town in Australia. There are endless waterfalls and swimming holes to explore during the wet season such as Molly Springs, Middle Springs, Black Rock Falls, The Grotto and many more. Kununurra is the ultimate playground for adventurists and 4WD enthusiasts with many unsealed roads including the famous Gibb River Road (el questro station, emma gorge and many more) and water crossing such as the Ivanhoe and the Pentecost river.
Kununurra is also a few hours away from Purnululu National Park also known as Bungle bungle
What a great adventure!

Who We Are:
Our little family is made up of Remi (Papa/Daddy), Lauren (Maman/Mummy) and Gabrielle. We are an international family and together we have 4 nationalities; Canadian, Australian, French and Bajan.
We love the outdoors, nature, camping, travel and lots of adventure! We have been traveling with Gabrielle since she was 6 weeks old when we did her first camping trip as a family.
We sold all of our belongings, gave up our jobs and headed out to explore the world as a family. Traveling full-time is not always sunshine and rainbows. It’s challenging and hard. It takes lots of organization and preparation but at the end of the day we have
memories in our heads rather than things in our pockets ... and that’s what we love!
Since having Gabrielle, we have traveled Australia, Morocco, France, Spain, Switzerland, China and Canada. In her first year of life she has traveled through 5 continents of the world and we don’t intend to stop.

Miriwoong Welcome to Country
IMPORTANT: The following video has been compiled for educational purposes only. This video must not be used as a substitute for an official, in-person, welcome to country in any situation or context whatsoever.
The land of the Miriwoong and Gajirrabeng people covers a wide area with Kununurra being the heart of Miriwoong land. From Molly Spring in the West, most of the mighty Ord River including parts of Lake Argyle and way beyond the Northern Territory border across Keep River National Park and up to the coast, the Miriwoong and Gajirrabeng people used to live in harmony with the land. Nowadays things have changed and many have moved into town or adjacent communities. MDWg regularly visits the outer communities and the people still living there, to talk about the old times and learn from the abundant knowledge of the elders. By the way, did you know that the word “Kununurra” does not mean “Meeting of big waters”? It is in fact one of the most widespread myths to lack any linguistic basis. The name is actually derived from the Miriwoong word Goonoonoorrang (alternatively Gananoorrang) which means ‘river’ – a perfect name for this place by the Ord River. A quick trip to Packsaddle Springs in Kununurra
Kununurra, in the East Kimberley, is surrounded by many beautiful natural wonders like Packsaddle Springs.
The best time of year to visit these places is between April and June while the water's flowing and before the tourists come.
Music is Swamp Stomp by Silent Partner and C Major Prelude by Bach.

Meet Sark, our four-year-old toy cavoodle. He loves romping through the bush and swimming in springs, which is why we brought him with us for a drive at the weekend. In this vlog we check out Molly's Spring, the Grotto and the cool view from the top of the Bastion in Wyndham. Yet more evidence of the epic beauty of the East Kimberley in Western Australia!
Music: Swamp Shuffle and Indie Romance by Silent Partner and Hooky with Sloane by Bird Creek.
