Salamis, is the largest Greek island in the Saronic Gulf, about 1 nautical mile off-coast from Piraeus and about 16 kilometres west of central Athens. The chief city, Salamina, lies in the west-facing core of the crescent on Salamis Bay, which opens into the Saronic Gulf.
Greece is a country in southeastern Europe with thousands of islands throughout the Aegean and Ionian seas. Influential in ancient times, it's often called the cradle of Western civilization. Athens, its capital, retains landmarks including the 5th-century B.C. Acropolis citadel with the Parthenon temple. Greece is also known for its beaches, from the black sands of Santorini to the party resorts of Mykonos.

Μονή Φανερωμένης Σαλαμίνας
Η Μονή Φανερωμένης βρίσκεται μέσα σε πυκνό πευκόδασος στη βορειοδυτική πλευρά του νησιού, στη περιοχή Φανερωμένη. Ιδρύθηκε το 1682 από τον όσιο Λαυρέντιο και τη γυναίκα του. Η πλούσια αγιογραφία της μονής περιλαμβάνει 3.500 παραστάσεις και αυτές του ναού του Αγίου Νικολάου είναι έργο του 1735 από τον αγιογράφο Γεώργιου Μάρκου. Στην Επανάσταση η μονή λειτούργησε ως καταφύγιο αμάχων, νοσοκομείο και τόπος συνάντησης οπλαρχηγών. Σήμερα ο ναός λειτουργεί ως μουσείο με ιστορικά κειμήλια.
