More Plains in Ladakh
An expressway at altitude of 4800 metres, more than half the altitude of Mount Everest. 50 kms of flatlands between Pang and Tanglang La pass. Flanked by mountain ranges on both sides, this plateau is good enough for dozens of football fields. Amazing, breathtaking and serene, this is a place like no other on this planet, and perhaps the most beautiful road journey in India.

Moore Plains - One of the best Landscapes in the world - Manali to Leh
About Moore Plains
.
.
35 to 40 kms stretch of plain land, massive and endless landscape. So unreal that you might get crazy like we had become. The tiny bike in the picture you see are my buddies, who went crazy and zoomed away on the pleasure trip to unknowns.
I had to literally chase them for kilometers and ask them to come back on our journey to Leh.
But then that is adventure and exciting and more fun,
to run into the unknowns, with no fear of getting lost or falling down or landing nowhere,
to walk on an unplanned and undefined path,
and to walk miles on that road less travelled... .
What a memorable ride that was!

More plains Ladakh - Leh Manali Highway - Himalayan Hymns Ep 16
On the Day 10 of our Leh Ladakh bike tour, we visited this amazing landscape of More plains.
#Ladakh #Himalaya #StepsTogether
More plains is crossed by the road from Leh to Manali. This stretch of 40 km falls in between Leh and Sarchu on Leh–Manali Highway. This road has an average elevation of 4800 metres and is flanked by mountain ranges on both sides. At some places the road runs along the Sumkhel Lungpa river featuring some stunning sand and rock natural formations.
The plain area starts after covering around 4 km uphill road from Pang towards Tanglang La
pass. The road is mostly on the plain for around 30–35 km, before it
again starts to rise to Tanglang La. Flanked by beautiful mountains on
both sides, this area is a major attraction to the Bikers heading
towards Leh from Manali. The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) of Indian Army is now in the process of converting the road to two lanes - one in either direction.
The area is uninhabitable and has no construction at all, and also no population.

Summer this year I rented a 4x4 compact SUV and drove the High-Himalayan route with my time-lapse gear in the backseat, always looking to set-up and shoot at the most scenic places. My good buddy and ace guitarist Jojo agreed to help me out with the project and joined the road trip. We drove Delhi-Kinnaur-Kashmir-Delhi in two weeks, through Spiti and Ladakh. It was an incredible experience.

Driving the high altitude plains from Pang to Upshi in Ladakh - Part 9
Distance between Pang and Upshi is 125 Kms. The road from Pang will take you to the famous Moore Plains; situated in a plateau, you will be hard-pressed to believe this relatively flat piece of land is located at an altitude of 15,400ft. Road here are relatively straight and in good condition, inviting you to indulge in speeding. Road is quite bumpy and it will be a good workout for your vehicles suspension and your stomach.
After the fast paced journey on the Moore plains, you will find your self on the ascent to the third highest pass you will encounter in Ladakh, Tanglang La (17,582ft). Final few kms to the summit of the pass are in bad condition and the steepness coupled with lack of air takes a toll on vehicles performance. But once you reach the top you will be greeted with spectacular views, in fact from Tanglang La you can clearly spot the road to the pass for miles on both directions.
Descent from Tanglang La for first few kms is in bad condition, however after that you will be greeted with spectacular roads and with the altitude decreasing gradually, your spirits will start picking up and you will feel rejuvenated by the time you reach Upshi.
