Roppongi Hills is one of the best examples of a city within the city. Opened in 2003 in the heart of Tokyo's Roppongi district, the building complex features offices, apartments, shops, restaurants, a hotel, art museum, observation deck and more. The office floors are home to leading companies from the IT (like Google) and financial sectors, and Roppongi Hills has become a symbol of the Japanese IT industry.
At the center of Roppongi Hills stands the 238 meter Mori Tower, one of the tallest buildings in the city. While most of the building is occupied by office space, the first few floors have restaurants and shops and the top few floors house an observation deck and modern art museum that are open to the public.

Roppongi Hills Mori Tower: Tokyo City View at Night | Japan
A video of our 2018 visit to the Mori Tower, Tokyo City View at night, in the Roppongi Hills Minato-ku area of Tokyo, Japan. These night views are from the 52nd floor of the skyscraper, at a height of 238 m (781 ft).
This high rise observatory building in Roppongi Hills has two observatories, the open air rooftop SKY DECK and the indoor TOKYO CITY VIEW (六本木ヒルズ森タワー). When we were there, only the indoor viewing deck was open, so this indoor panorama observation deck is the only area I could film, but it still shows a beautiful aerial view of the city lights in the surrounding area.
The Mori Tower was built in 2003 and is named after its builder Minoru Mori.
In this video you can see:
- The Tokyo Tower lit up at night
- The Tokyo Skytree in the far distance
- The Shinjuku and Shibuya area
- The Metropolitan Expressway / highway
- Panoramic Modern City Skyline Views
- the cafe and bar area with seating, barstools & sofas

Roppongi Hills Mori Tower, aka Tokyo City View (and Godzilla / Gamera museum!) - Tokyo, Japan
360 degree city views at Roppongi Hills Mori Tower! Also known as Tokyo City View, with a Godzilla / Gamera museum in Tokyo, Japan!
Mori Tower in Roppongi Hills, Tokyo, Japan is also known as the Tokyo City View. I prefer this view over the Tokyo Tower view, because the most prominent feature of the Tokyo skyline is the Tokyo Tower, but how can you see Tokyo Tower if you're on it??? Roppongi Hills Mori Tower is actually a higher up view of Tokyo, and it includes Tokyo Tower beautifully in the view. Hence, it earns it's name as the Roppongi Hills Tokyo City View.
There's also a Godzilla / Gamera museum on the same level as the observation deck! This exhibit rotates, so when you visit Roppongi Hills Mori Tower, it may be different. Check the Tokyo City View website for information closer to the date of your visit.
***Credit to Godzilla 1962 for the correction that this is a Gamera museum.

World’s largest Naruto and Boruto Theme Park in Japan
Japan Naruto Theme Park and Boruto Theme Park located in Nijigen no Mori Awajishima. This is first look at currently the World's largest Naruto amusement park and Boruto amusement park located in Shinobi Zato also known as ninja village area of the National Park of Awajishima. The ninja village hosts 2 main mission areas guided by maki-mono (scrolls) chi-no-maki (earth scroll) and ten-no-maki (heaven scroll). This anime theme park will take you on a puzzle solving adventures. This is perfect play ground for all Naruto manga and anime lovers alike.
Also, this anime theme park has recreated an outdoor version of Naruto's favorite ramen shop, Ichiraku ramen shop where you can get Hakata style ramen. Ramen ichiraku's Naruto Ramen was quite delicious and would love to have another bowl at anytime. The shop also serves Naruto themed food.
Nijigen no mori where the Naruto theme park is located, is originally a giant national park so it’s actually a perfect spot to just hang out, relax and have a picnic.
In fact, Naruto theme park video is the first part of a 2 part series for the Awajishima area so if you are deciding to visit this area, then definitely stick around for the 2nd part of this video series.

Tokyo's Roppongi Hills shows Tokyo's cultural redevelopment
도시재생 모범사례 꼽히는 일본 롯폰기 문화 공간
Japan's capital city Tokyo is seeing massive urban redevelopment as the mega-city looks to become a more accessible and attractive place to live.
Our Won Jung-hwan reports.
As the 2020 Olympics approaches, Tokyo is seeing a construction boom. As well as sporting venues, large areas of the city are being redeveloped, with the Shibuya district alone having at least a dozen large-scale high-rises under construction.
According to a recent survey by Mori Building,,… around 75 large buildings across the city will be finished in the years leading up to the Games.
But Tokyo doesn't just want to add to its concrete jungle. It also wants to develop cultural areas to make the city a brighter place to live and visit.
Roppongi Hills is one such example,… as the area has gone through a massive change to attract a more diverse range of people than before.
Approximately 17 years after Roppongi Hills' official opening, the neighborhood is still a nightlife hotspot, but the area has also actively sought to rebrand itself as a cultural Mecca.
In the 1990s, Tokyo-based building tycoon, Minoru Mori, spearheaded the Roppongi Hills redevelopment in an attempt to build an integrated high-rise development in the center of the city that would combine residential, work, retail, and entertainment spaces.
Back in those days, there were just a lot of tall buildings,... but now the area has a harmony between each of the buildings, forming around art museums and natural parks.
People call it the Roppongi Art Triangle, where 3 major art museums, including the Mori Art Museum on 53rd floor of the Mori Tower, are within a short walk of each other, and provide discounts together.
In many respects, Tokyo's Roppongi Hills represents a new approach to urban life.
The area, which was once an enclave for Tokyo's ultra-rich,… now acts as a magnet for ordinary people looking to enjoy cultural activities.
The area was regarded as a place only for rich people,... but now the perception has changed. Everyone is welcome at this place, from kids to foreigners.
Major cities around the world can learn from Tokyo's urban development plans,... which have given parts of the city a fresh new image.
Won Jung-hwan, Arirang News, Tokyo.
