Mosaic Templars State Temple February 2019
Built in 1921, the Mosaic Templars State Temple was designed by African American architect Walter Thomas Bailey. The building was built by the Mosaic Templars of America, an important late 19th- and early 20th-century African American fraternal organization, as part of its headquarters and originally contained offices, a lodge hall and a hospital space.
At noon, the MLK Commission held a ribbon cutting for their offices in the building, which was followed by the lecture on the building.

The Sound of Culture
Mosaic Templars Cultural Center is happy to work with Create Little Rock, studioMain and our West Ninth Street neighbors on PopUp in the Rock 2015. Once a bustling district for African Americans, West Ninth Street is shadow of it's former glory; however, it still remains the home of one historic structure, Dreamland Ballroom and is the home of Arkansas's only state-funded museum dedicated to African American history. PopUp West Ninth will help the community remember the legacy of this area, while allowing them to visualize future development.

Poets don't just write... sloppily scribbling sentences/instead they pen them with precision/because of poetry I now have altered vision/I can no longer look at life through windows of grays, yellows, and blues/because as a poet I have seen Langston's hues/I have crafted and constructed canoes out of couplets composed by Countee Cullen and we have navigated through Gwendolyn's brooks.
