Quirky Canadian rockers have a history of grabbing our attention. We had one of our favorite new discoveries of 2012, Mac Demarco, from Edmonton, BC come hang and play Ode To Viceroy off his new album, 2.
As if breaking bands don't have enough hoops to jump through...
We invited some of our favorite up-and-comers to come by The Hoodie Shop in NYC's Lower East Side to play some tunes and take the ultimate test -- a grilling from mom.

Red Cross helps Manchester survivor try out for Britain's Got Talent
“It’s been a very difficult journey for us as a family over the last year.”
Hollie Booth, 13, her mum Claire, and Claire’s sister Kelly Brewster were among more than 14,000 people who attended the Manchester Arena to see Ariana Grande in concert on May 22, 2017. The event tragically became the scene of the worst terror attack in the UK in nearly 12 years, claiming the lives of 22 people – including Kelly’s.
For Hollie, the journey towards recovery has been a long and challenging one. She was left with life-changing injuries, including numerous broken bones and internal injuries.
The British Red Cross has helped Hollie managed her injuries by providing wheelchairs and other mobility aids. They also provided more wheelchairs to Hollie's dance troupe to help her return to her favourite pastime. Hollie and her dance troupe Dancedaze UK used the wheelchairs supplied by the British Red Cross to audition for Britain's Got Talent.
“I was really glad that we were able to attend the audition and that the extra wheelchairs we were given meant my friends could get on stage and perform with me, Hollie said.
“The Red Cross has made a massive difference to me and my life over the last year – I really wouldn’t have been able to manage without them.”

Manchester Students’ Union bans clapping for jazz hands - TomoNews
MANCHESTER, UNITED KINGDOM — A student union has decided to ban clapping, whooping and cheering and replaced it instead with — wait for it — jazz hands.
According to the BBC, student reps from the University of Manchester actually voted to replace clapping with the British Sign Language equivalent — a wave of both hands, so jazz hands.
Apparently clapping can trigger students with autism, sensory issues and deafness. Hold up — clapping bothers deaf people?
At lively events such as debates, panels and talks, no more will students be subjected to the harsh sounds of audible clapping.
According to the student union’s liberation and access officer Sara Khan, who proposed the idea, said clapping can “discourage” people from events.
Khan said, “I think a lot of the time, even in Parliamentary debates, I’ve seen that clapping, whooping and talking over each other, loud noises, encourages an atmosphere that is not as respectful as it could be.”
Khan said the union was looking to be more inclusive.

Ariana Grande Returns Home To Florida After Manchester Bombing
Ariana Grande arrived home in Florida on Tuesday after a terrorist attack in Manchester, England claimed the lives of 22 people the night before. The 23-year-old singer was photographed at an airport in Boca Raton with her mother Joan Grande. CNN reported earlier on Tuesday that the singer had postponed her Dangerous Woman tour, which includes two upcoming concerts this week at London's O2 Arena. There has been no official statement from her camp or from the tour's promoters AEG Live on whether those concerts have been canceled.
