Everest Base Camp Part 2
This is part two in our Everest Base camp series. We had the best and worst time on this trek. The walk itself was actually easier than I had expected, but the altitude affected our sleep pretty badly from day one which made some of the trek a bit more challenging. Kala Patthar was definitely the hardest part of this trek, waking up at 4am and hiking up in the -10c temperatures. This was one of the coolest and most interesting things I have ever done!
Some things that I wish I knew:
-Your nose will not stop running! pack so many tissues.
-Sleeping just does not come easily! Every night we would get a few hours (2ish) sleep then the headache would kick in and we couldn't sleep.
-There is not many places to wash your hands, pack hand-sanitiser and wet wipes!
-The food is pretty hard on your stomach (very high-carb and a lot of oil)
-Also pack toilet paper! there is none anywhere in bathrooms, although you can buy it, it gets more expensive the higher you get. Also pack some small plastic bag so you don't leave toilet paper all over the trail (trust me you will have to pee a lot! and there aren't that many toilets around)
-The chlorine tablets in the water aren't actually that bad, although having some sort of electrolyte drink is perfect.
We booked our tour through Mountain Mart Treks and Expedition and we had the best time and would recommend them to anyone. They always took perfect care of us and tried to make sure we had the best time possible, and that everyone made it.

Ama Dablam (6170m) is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful peaks in Everest region. It is part of the Mahalangur Himalayan range and is popular for climbing among both experienced and beginner climbers.
Ama Dablam in Sherpa language means ‘Mother’s Necklace’. When see from a distance the mountain looks like a mother protecting her child. The view of Ama Dablam from Thyanboche Monastery is a worth a million dollar!
Ama Dablam was first climbed in 1961 by a team led by New Zealander Mike Gill. The normal route to climb mount Ama Dablam is from its South- West ridge and usually requires setting up 3 camps before the final launch.
Ama Dablam ExpeditionAma Dablam is often regarded as a ladder for beginners before they graduate to bigger mountains. Still climbing mountain presents technical difficulty. The mountaineers have to cross-difficult ice rocks and steep snow climbing one their climbing route.
To reach the first camp from base camp, the climbers have to pass the toughest ridges and then turn to the north via rocky boulder. From Camp I the path crosses the rocky bowl and climb another the ridge with the help of fixed lines before reaching Camp II. The road ahead of Camp II is laden with severe rocks, ice and snow. The final stretch from Camp III to the summit involves tackling Dablam or a huge hanging glacier. The top of Ama Dablam opens up to a magnificent panorama of Mt Everest (8848m), Lhotse (8516m), Makalu (8463m) and Island peak (6189m) among others.

Nepal - Poon Hill Hiking Journey 2019
Having travelled many places around the globe, Nepal was always on the list to test my strength and resilience. Apologies with the shakiness, when I was editing on the small window in Adobe Premier it seemed manageable but if you vertigo please view this one small screen.
An epic journey seeing a different part of the world. Met some awesome people on the tour and really got to experience living on bare minimum, meeting some lovely local people, surviving on not bringing enough warm gear and some days no hot shower. I hope this video gives you a taste of the Poon Hill Trek in the Annapurna direction if you are thinking of doing a hike around that area. The whole trip took 5 days and the view is breathtaking! If you are doing it on your own, make sure you hire a porter, and bring the essential medication plus hydrolite for precaution! Enjoy =)
Nepal's Participation at PTM2016 - A Report by Mountain Television
PATA Nepal Chapter in collaboration with Nepal Tourism Board and National Flag Carrier, Nepal Airlines made a successful participation in the PATA Travel Mart which was held from September 7-9, 2016 at Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) in Jakarta, Indonesia. The tourism entrepreneurs of Nepal including Soaltee Crowne Plaza, SDU Travel, Explore Himalaya Travel and Adventure, Langtang RI Trekking, Nepal Easy Travel and Tours, Himalayan Guides Nepal Treks and Expedition, Tigerland Safari Resort and Hotel Marshyangdi also took part in the under Nepal Pavilion .
Nepal’s participation at PTM 2016 proved to be good platform to disseminate the information to the international travel trade and media that Nepal is back for business. The strong participation from the Nepal’s travel trade as potential Buyers and the overwhelming response they received at the fair attested the fact that Nepal is back in tourism business.
NTB organized a special Media Briefing on 9 September to the international press at the venue. Mr. Deepak Raj Joshi, CEO Nepal Tourism Board, highlighted Nepal’s different facets such as culture, activities, festivals etc to break the stereotyped image of Nepal being more of an extreme adventure destination. Mr. Joshi also informed the press about the myths and the reality of Nepal post-earthquake. CEO also mentioned about the positive growth in the number of tourist arrival to Nepal and said the whole tourism industry is very encouraged and motivated with this confidence shown by the international sector towards Nepal as a destination.
The Nepal stall received a very positive response. The Nepal stall stood quite outstanding due to its unique design and branding.

How to Start Everest Base Camp & The Three Passes Trek in Nepal
An introduction to the challenging Three Passes Trek (includes packing list). We hiked the Three Passes Trek independently, without a guide in May, 2018.
Well and truly rested from our amazing Annapurna experience ( we were eager to be back on the trail again; this time trekking through the Solukhumbu (or Everest) Region in Nepal.
The Three Passes Trek differs from the standard Everest Base Camp trekking route in that it encompasses three high mountain passes, Kongma La, Cho La & Renjo La.
The Three Passes Trek offers a lot more in the way of technical challenges such as, crumbling glaciers, snow drifts, higher elevations and a more physically challenging and isolated hiking trail.
With Nepal's trekking season coming to a close, we had a limited window of opportunity to start the trek. We caught the jeep from Kathmandu to Salleri to begin what would be the definitive Nepali trekking experience.
