Mt Baker is an active glaciated andesitic stratovolcano in the North Cascades of Washington in the United States. It averages a whopping average yearly snowfall of 682 inches! It has a ski resort in winter and in summer is our favorite area to hike in the whole of Washington state!

Time Lapse Drive: Mount Baker to Bellingham, Washington - SR 542
March 31, 2019 - It's a beautiful day in early spring - what better time to go for a Sunday Drive along the Mount Baker Highway, a National Forest Scenic Byway in Washington State!
Starting at the Mount Baker Ski Resort - the eastern terminus of State Route 542 - I drive the entire length of the highway westbound to its western terminus and beyond to the centre of Downtown Bellingham: Boundary Bay Brewing! Gotta get my growler filled up, after all!

Mt Rainier Dege Peak Trail - Beautiful View of Almost Every Volcano in WA State - Aug272019
CORRECTION: Mount Adams is NOT the largest stratovolcano in the United States. It is, however, the largest in terms of volume in Washington State. According to USGS, Mt. Shasta is the largest stratovolcano in terms of volume for the entire United States.
On August 27, 2019, I had some extra time on my hands. So, as usual, I decided to hike within Mt Rainier National Park. I hiked up Dege Peak trail and saw an amazing view of Mt. Baker, Glacier Peak, Mt. Rainier, and Mt. Adams stratovolcanoes.
Also, did you know that there is a 1,000ft tall volcano in Enumclaw, WA? Yeah, I didn't know that until just recently. It is called Pinnacle Peak, sometimes called Mt. Pete or Mt. Peak. It is a cinder cone that is at least older than 5,800 years.

Time Lapse: Vancouver, BC, Canada to Mount Baker, Washington, USA
March 31, 2019 - Spring has sprung in the Pacific Northwest! Today I am taking a sunny Sunday drive from the Vancouver suburb of Richmond, British Columbia, Canada, across the border to the nearby dormant volcano (and largest mountain on the horizon), Mount Baker, in Washington State (USA)!
There is no quick or direct way between these two cities, but the drive sure is scenic, particularly on State Route 542 through the Cascade Mountains.

????OUR VAN BLUEPRINT
Bellingham is one of those towns that is easy to pass while driving down I-5 because you really can't see it from the interstate. Once our friend Mason reached out asking to grab coffee together if we ever passed through town, we finally had a reason to stop and see for ourselves what Bellingham was all about. Let's just say, we were NOT disappointment we made the drive! We believe Bellingham just might be Washington's BEST kept secret, and we want to show you why. LET'S GO!
