RV Alaska Series #10 | Dempster Highway Conclusion & Discovering Dawson City
Class A Motorhome RV Living: Season 3 EP051 July 13-14, 2018 Get more of our stuff at
In this episode, we finish up the grueling Dempster Highway and discover the fun, unique and historic Dawson City, Yukon.
The Dempster Highway was quite an accomplishment. It is not a road for everyone, but definitely a road for the adventurous. We are certainly glad we made the trip.
We didn't know much about Dawson City, but after just one day, we both found it to be a very cool little town with something for everyone.
If you were looking for some history of the Klondike Gold Rush, Dawson City had you covered.
Maybe you wanted to relax and do some fishing along the Klondike or Yukon Rivers, Dawson City had you covered.
Maybe, you were tired of all the relaxing and wanted to kick up your heels, have a drink or two, do some gambling or take in a can can show...Dawson City had you covered for that, as well!
We hope you enjoy our final episode on the Yukon! Safe travels...Paul and Lorena

Time Lapse: The Arctic Highway from Inuvik to Tuktoyaktuk, NWT, Canada
November 11, 2019 - A huge item got checked off of the bucket list today - we drove to the Arctic Ocean!
Thanks to a new road built in 2017, Canada now has highways that connect all three of its oceanic coasts. Starting before sunrise in Inuvik, just inside the tree line, we take our truck to Tuk some 151 km away on the Inuvik-Tuktoyaktuk Highway (NWT Highway 10).
About two minutes north of Inuvik, Google Streetview cuts off, so until they send that little car of theirs up here again, this may very well be the best way to see the highway in the early winter - until you make the journey, yourself!
Note: As it's Remembrance Day, not much is open in Tuktoyaktuk - but getting there is half the fun! Falling into the freezing Arctic waters is the other half.

The completion of our epic 4.5 month canoe journey through Canada. We took a short flight from Tuktoyaktuk to Inuvik, met with a friend and continued home to Jasper in the Rockies by vehicle, along the famous Dempster Highway through the NWT, Yukon, BC and Alberta.
A great distance and a great trip.

In this episode, we finish our journey up the Dempster Highway, beyond the previous End of the Road, to Tuktoyaktuk, the new...End of the road!!
Tuktoyaktuk is the farthest north you can drive, on a road, in Canada.
It is also the ONLY road in North America where you can drive to the Arctic Ocean. The Dalton Highway in Alaska requires you to stop and take an oil company shuttle, the rest of the way.
It was an amazing journey, that we would do again, IN A HEARTBEAT!
We hope you enjoy coming along on this part of our journey, as well! Safe travels...Paul & Lorena

Best of Dawson City, Yukon Canada travel guide
Things to do in Dawson City, Yukon Canada. Vibrant northern town on the Yukon River in the Yukon, in northwest Canada. A base during the 19th-century Klondike Gold Rush, the town has several preserved frontier-style buildings.
Road to 150: Best Things To Do In The Yukon
In this video, we share some of the best things to do in the Yukon, including Whitehorse, Dawson, Kluane National Park, and more!
Welcome to the Yukon!
Known for its dramatic landscapes, vast wilderness, and the famous Klondike Gold Rush, the Yukon has been capturing people's imaginations for years. With four-legged creatures far outnumbering humans, Canada's tallest mountain peaks, and the world's largest non-polar glacier, the Yukon is a true paradise for adventurers and outdoor enthusiasts.
We started our journey in Whitehorse, the Yukon's capital city. From here, we toured the SS Klondike, ate some delicious food in Whitehorse's oldest buildings, saw heaps of wildlife, and caught a glimpse of the Northern Lights. We then went to Dawson, the worlds most famous gold rush town. While walking around the old boardwalk streets was incredible enough, we also went gold panning, toured the massive dredge #4, watched a Cancan show at the oldest casino in the country, and took a river cruise on a paddle-wheeler. We then drove up the infamous Dempster Highway all the way to Eagle Plains, past the Arctic Circle and into the Northwest Territories. After coming back and spending another night in Dawson, we drove to Kluane National Park for one of the most epic flightseeing tours we've ever experienced.
We explored the Yukon from August 16 - September 6th, 2017!

Special Note: We just released the Canada Saver Card, a physical discount card that gets you discounts at a variety of attractions, adventures, and activities across Canada! From helicopter tours to rafting, fishing, museums, and horseback rides, save money on all of them for less than $30! -

Canada's Road to 150 is a 150-day Canada-wide multi-media road trip celebrating Canada's 150th birthday by exploring the uniqueness of this country provincially and collectively while answering the question; What makes Canada special?
We will drive to and through every driveable province and territory, showcasing Canada's natural beauty and regional attractions while interviewing Canadians of all cultures and backgrounds, including local celebrities, immigrants, refugees, and everyday rural and urban Canadians. Our aim is to dig deep into what makes Canada such an incredibly inspiring country while showing off the best of Canada's tourism to Canadians and to the world.
