The Impossible (2012) Disaster Drama/Docudrama
The Impossible is a 2012 disaster drama film directed by J. A. Bayona and written by Sergio G. Sánchez. It is based on the experience of María Belón and her family in the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. The cast includes Naomi Watts, Ewan McGregor and Tom Holland.
Plot: Henry Bennett (Ewan McGregor), his wife Maria (Naomi Watts), and their three sons Lucas (Tom Holland), Thomas (Samuel Joslin), and Simon (Oaklee Pendergast) go on a Christmas holiday in 2004 to Khao Lak, Thailand. Arriving on Christmas Eve, they settle in and begin to enjoy the brand new Orchid Beach Resort. Two days later on Boxing Day, the massive 2004 tsunami inundates the area.
Maria and Lucas eventually emerge from the swirling water and find one another, with Maria having sustained serious injuries to her leg and chest. They help a young boy, Daniel, from the wreckage and are soon found by locals who transfer them to a local hospital in the city of Takua Pa. Daniel is separated from them during the journey. At the hospital, Maria encourages Lucas to help others find their family members while she goes into surgery for her chest injuries.
Meanwhile, Henry, Thomas and Simon have also survived and are together. Henry leaves the two boys with another family who head to the mountains for safe shelter while he stays behind to search for Maria and Lucas. While out looking, injured and alone, he is picked up by a passer-by and driven to a nearby bus shelter to wait out with other survivors. Communication facilities are scarce but eventually a tourist named Karl (Sönke Möhring), who has also been separated from his family, lends Henry his cell phone to contact his relatives. Henry promises Maria's father he will look everywhere for his family and that he will find them. Karl tells the group his wife had left him a note confirming they were at the beach, their location when the wave hit. He volunteers to accompany Henry to look for Maria and Lucas and his own family, too.
While Maria is in surgery, her medical chart is mixed-up with another patient who has died. Lucas returns to find his mother's bed empty and is then taken to a tent where children without families are kept safe. The mistake is discovered when Lucas cannot identify any of the dead woman's jewelry and he is subsequently reunited with his mother who has been moved to a private room in the ICU. In the hospital while he waits, Lucas finds Daniel who has been reunited with his father. --- Read More.---
GUATEMALA | Lake Atitlán / Antigua / Volcano Acatenango / Tikal
Another great adventure of mine, GUATEMALA this time, a culturally rich and beautiful country in the central America. My first time exploring this region, and I love it, enjoying every moments there even I don't speak any Spanish. From the picturesque Lake Atitlán with charming little towns around (San Pedro, San Juan, etc.) and the few volcanos, this is where you can enjoy a peaceful night with clear sky, sparkled by countless of stars, if you are lucky enough you could see shooting stars; to the Spanish colonial city Antigua, situated on the central highlands of Guatemala, this UNESCO Heritage City has so much characters with the Mayan ruins and the rocky roads, where you will be consistently on a bumpy ride travelling around, not to mention the good quality food you could enjoy, even more if you are a avocado, chocolate and coffee lover; to the Volcano Acatenango, definitely a great adventure doing this overnight hike, to see the one of the 15 active volcanos in this country, Volcano Fuego, situated just right next to Acatenango, where you could witness the endless eruptions the whole day and night directly from your camp, this is definitely one of the coolest things I have done, also the toughest hike I have ever experienced; finally to Tikal in the northern Guatemala, the highlight of my trip, is the largest excavated site in the American continent and contains some of the most fascinating archaeological remains of the ancient Maya civilization. It is Guatemala's most famous cultural and natural preserve.

Hello Hoppers! This was one of the highlights of my trip to Antigua. I finally got to spend time with someone from Antigua!!! Barry, our driver and companion, was just what we needed, someone who is kind, funny, and oh, so knowledgeable about this beautiful island, its history and culture. We had a wonderful day visiting several villages and natural wonders of Antigua. Thank you, Barry, for opening the door and letting us into your world.

CLASSIC BOAT SHOW in SPAIN [Ep 14]
In this episode, we explore a little bit more of Mahon, the huge natural harbour of Minorca. We see an impressive catamaran, explore a fortress, and see some truly incredible classic boats at the annual classic boat show in Mahon. Plus, I have a bit of fun and take some creative license with the narration... let me know what you think. I wanted to create a spoken-word style piece, and then set it to music... but now I'm pretty sure a lot of people will say it was rap. I guess it all depends on definitions, but it was not my intention to rap the narration haha.
As always, a HUGE thank you to our generous, kind, and inspiring patrons. If you're interested in supporting our journey and becoming a patron, please check out this link:
And, stay tuned for the next episode, we have a special one coming out :)
Sincerely,
Maya and Aladino

Where we Stayed:
* 5 bedroom Rental in Antigua Guatemala (Carlos was a great host - we booked through VRBO)
Places we Loved:
* Caoba Farm (we went every single saturday - they have a shuttle from one of the plazas that comes every 30 mins or so; they have free outdoor yoga classes overlooking the veggie gardens; art area for kids to paint and draw; a store with delicious select of healthy foods; fruits, veggies and vendors with breads and jewelry and soaps and even coconut yogurts & kimchi and such!)
* De La Gente Tours: We did the Peanut Butter Workshop, although all their programs look amazing. They work with local farmers/families so you really get an authentic experience while supporting the local community. The Peanut Butter workshop was so fun and interesting. Watch our video for more!
* Trip to Lake Atitlan: We hired a driver for the day - went to Lake Atitlan; when we arrived in Panajachel, we hired a private boat to take us to San Juan (where, upon arrival we hired a tuk-tuk to take us around to visit a local artist, local textile co-op (amazing to see how they get vibrant natural colors from insects and plants), local bee farm and local medicinal herb garden. (if we had more time we would have loved to stop at the chocolate making too); We then took our boat to San Pedro (although we only ate a late lunch there and didn't have much time to walk around the town).
(** TIP: Take the boat earlier in the day because after 3pm, the water gets very choppy. We found it easy to hire a boat/driver upon arrival- it cost us around $100 for the entire day.)
* Spanish School we'd recommend for Kids (& Adults):
Mundo Spanish School ; it was US$15 for both kids for 1.5 hrs. The teacher was wonderful with the kids - doing lots of arts and crafts. We stayed on sight while they were at class. The entire staff was wondeful.
* Masseuse:
Deet Lewis - This lady is amazing. If you are looking for a true body worker, she's wonderful. She works out of her home and only charges ~$20 for an hour. You can contact her at deetlew60@gmail.com
* Choco Museo:
(We accidentally booked the longer chocolate making tour but it ended up being a blessing and I'd highly recommend it (Bean to Bar Workshop)... even with kids! You learn so much about the Mayan history of chocolate making and various ways chocolate was made- into tea and drinks and grinding chooclate, tasting it all along the way...and then finally making our own chocolates, topping them with everything you can imagine!
Restaurants we Loved:
* Acai by Juanjo y Elena (the couple that owns this restaurant and everyone that works here are super friendly; great vegetarian and vegan food options, salads, sandwiches, smoothie bowls and juices!)
* Canela - best bakery in Antigua (We met the couple that owned this gem of a bakery at Caoba Farm - they have the most delicious breads and bagels and cookies... and vegan ice cream. Oh and the soups and sandwiches... everything was delicious. But hands down, mama's favorite was the vegan keylime ice cream pie!!)
* Market: The main market is actually open everyday - which makes it easy to go get fresh veggies and fruit and fresh tortillas daily! The market days', which tend to be an experience itself are more crowded and have more vendors on Thursdays, Saturdays & Mondays.

Guatemala Adventure Travel
Guatemala Adventure Travel: Everyone who arrives at Guatemala leaves better, more complete. With an adventure that wasn't expected. That is why in Guatemala we would like to show you something more than lakes and volcanoes, more than Mayan cities and more than towns full of color.
Guatemala is still a developing nation, a young democracy with a turbulent and bloody history that's beset by deep-rooted inequalities. And yet, despite alarming levels of poverty and unemployment, most Guatemalans are extraordinarily courteous and helpful to travellers, and only too eager to help you catch the right bus or practise your Spanish.
It's this genuine and profound hospitality combined with the country's outstanding cultural legacy and astonishing natural beauty that makes Guatemala such a compelling place for travellers.
All this in your Guatemala Adventure Travel!
COFFEE FARM IN ANTIGUA GUATEMALA | HOW TO GROW COFFEE | COFFEE TASTING | ANTIGUA | GUATEMALA | EP.58
In this episode, let's visit a coffee farm in Antigua, Guatemala. I joined a coffee tour at the Felidelfia Coffee Resorts and Tours and learned how to grow coffee and how to process it.
Felidelfia is a huge property which has 900 acres of land to grow their beans. It also has its factory to wash and roast the beans. Besides it is farm, it also has a resort and many other kind of activities such as camping, bird watching, etc.
At the end of the tour, I had chance to taste an American and an Expresso in their volcano view restaurant. Their gift shop is full of coffee related products.
The tour is $20 including free shuttle (2 pickup points from downtown). It is available 3 times a day in both English and Spanish. If you join the same tour from an agency, they will charge you $25.
On their website, they have packages with tour and meals. I am not sure if the the food is good because I have never tried. But the environment is excellent.
As mentioned in the video, I didn't take the shuttler and walked by myself. The security did ask for my passport. Remember to prepare a copy if you are gonna do the same thing.

Alberite-Ribafrecha-Leza-Trevijano-NIEVE.
XD
Distancia recorrida: 46,8 kilómetros
Altitud min: 294 metros, max: 1.234 metros

Pushed up by volcanic forces from the seafloor, #MadeiraIsland is a wonderful #vacation #destination. Volcanic activity settled millennia ago, yet the island’s rich soils and spring climate means Madeira explodes in lush vegetation all year round.
#Visit Madeira’s capital, Funchal. Walk streets paved with patterned stonework and #explore centuries-old churches and homes, which have endured pirate raids, German U-boat attacks, and earthquakes.
Head to Cabo Girão, one of the world’s mightiest cliffs. At Garajau, watch divers far below enjoying the undersea gardens of the marine reserve.
Madeira’s ring road strings together coastal towns and beaches, each one a little different from the last. Madeira’s northern coastline offers plenty of drama and adventure too.
Explore Pico do Arieiro, Madeira’s third-highest peak. From here, experienced hikers can follow knife-edged trails to even higher peaks, the same peaks that guided Portuguese mariners to Madeira six centuries ago.

Making Tracks West [EP27]
If we wanted to cross through the Panama Canal this season, we needed to make tracks West. We were loving the USVI's but also had fun making small hops to new places: The Spanish VI, Puerto Rico, Rincon and then the Dominican Republic. Every place ends up surprising you. Either for the people, the land or the culture. Cruising is such a great way to experience it all...
More on the Tank here. If we always pick up our trash from the beach, then why does the US Government seem to think it's okay to leave a few tanks here???:

POSTING DAILY ON SOCIAL - GET EARLY ACCESS ON PATREON:

ABOUT US: Welcome aboard. We are a family of five sailing around the world on our dream boat, a performance catamaran named Archer.
Ten years ago, before kids, we sailed a Lagoon 380 named Honeymoon halfway around the world to Sydney, Australia. Along the way we shared our experiences with family and friends via YouTube, and by happenstance created one of the first sailing channels. But more than anything, we realized what an incredible experience that first trip was and that someday we wanted to do it again, only this time with kids.
We want to share with them the importance of taking time to be with family. To show them a world outside of the one they grew up in. We want them to appreciate how lucky we are to experience (and to care for) the natural beauty of this world. But mostly we want to spend time with our kids during these formative years and create lasting memories as a family. That's why we are sharing our videos weekly - thanks for watching!
OUR BOAT is a Ferrari red Outremer 51 performance cruising catamaran. We chose this boat as it has been specifically designed for the purpose of bluewater sailing. It was designed and built to withstand the stress of sailing multiple times around the world safely and in comfort. It's also a speed demon, which is important when you want to cover large distances of water before the weather changes. Lastly, it's backed by the manufacturer with outstanding customer service and aftermarket support, so we believe she will hold her value well. And, she's nice on the eyes too.
OUR ROUTE has taken us from the Boston/Cape Cod area of the United States down to the Caribbean and then on to the Panama Canal. At the time of posting this we are dealing with a repair in the South Pacific, and in 2020 we hope to be in New Zealand and Southeast Asia. By 2021 we will be in the Med and close to completing our circumnavigation.
PLEASE COMMENT!: As a family channel, we are required to actively monitor all comments, but we still want to hear from you. Tell us what you think!
THANKS for watching all. Subscribe right now and never miss an episode!
