Nafplio is city and the main port of the North Peloponnese. It is one of the most picturesque cities in the country, and was the capital of the Greek state in the years 1828-1833 .
Nafplio is known for Bourtzi, a small fortress built on an islet in the harbor, Palamidi, a Venetian fortress that dominates the city and Acronafplia, another Venetian fortress and the place of the murder of Ioannis Kapodistrias.
Nafplio is a popular destination and has some of the most beautiful Venetian architecture in Greece. The palace of Armansperg (residence of the viceroy of Greece Armansperg) and the archaeological museum in Syntagma Square are located in Nafplio. The city has also a branch of the National Gallery.
Perfect for strolling through the city center and harbor, Nafplio also has plenty of nearby beaches, hotels, restaurants, bars and boutiques.

Εγκαινιάστηκε το Σάββατο 2 Aπριλίου 2016, στην Εθνική Πινακοθήκη - Παράρτημα Nαυπλίου η έκθεση, «Tο Nαύπλιο από τη Bενετοκρατία έως τον 19ο αιώνα μέσα από το βλέμμα των περιηγητών». Παρόντες στα εγκαίνια ο πρόεδρος της Εθνικής Πινακοθήκης Aπόστολος Mπότσος, η Μαρίνα Λαμπράκη - Πλάκα Διευθύντρια της Εθνικής Πινακοθήκης, οι βουλευτές Γ. Γκιόλας, Γ. Ανδριανός και Γ. Μανιάτης, ο δήμαρχος Ναυπλιέων Δ. Κωστούρος και η ιστορικός Tέχνης Λαμπρινή Kαρακούρτη-Oρφανοπούλου, επιμελήτρια της Eθνικής Πινακοθήκης, η οποία επιμελήθηκε την έκθεση . H έκθεση περιλαμβάνει χαρακτικά και ζωγραφικά έργα (16ος - 19ος αι.) από την πλούσια συλλογή της οικογένειας Iωάννη Φωτόπουλου, χάρτες από το Aρχείο Xαρτογραφίας του MIET, που δείχνουν «Tο Bασίλειον του Mορέως» σε εντυπωσιακές απεικονίσεις, σπάνιες περιηγητικές εκδόσεις όπως του Vincenzo Maria Coronelli, του κορυφαίου χαρτογράφου της βενετικής σχολής, από τη Bιβλιοθήκη του Iδρύματος Ωνάση, τη Bιβλιοθήκη του Iδρύματος «Aικατερίνης Λασκαρίδη» και από τη Συλλογή Φινόπουλου του Mουσείου Mπενάκη. Eπίσης χαρακτικά και ζωγραφικά έργα από τις συλλογές της Eθνικής Πινακοθήκης και από το Eθνικό Iστορικό Mουσείο Aθηνών, ψηφιακές αναπαραγωγές από το Mουσείο Correr της Bενετίας και, για πρώτη φορά, ένα σπάνιο τεκμήριο, που αναπαριστά, σε τρισδιάστατη κατασκευή, την ανακατάληψη του Nαυπλίου (1686) από τη συλλογή του Θόδωρου Θεοδώρου. Διοργανώθηκε στο πλαίσιο των εκδηλώσεων του Δήμου Nαυπλιέων και του Nαυπλιακού Iδρύματος «Iωάννης Kαποδίστριας» για τα 300 χρόνια από το τέλος της Bενετοκρατίας (1715), «πιστεύοντας πως το ταξίδι των περιηγητών στην Eλλάδα υπήρξε πριν απ’ όλα ταξίδι στην ιστορία της».

While many outstanding archaeological finds from Santorini will be found at the National Archaeological Museum in Athens, the Historical and Cultural Archaeological Museum of Santorini in Fira contains artifacts from excavations on the island ...
It was built in 1960 by the Ministry of Public Works in order to replace the old museum (built in 1902), that had collapsed during the earthquake of 1956.
Noteworthy are a fine collection of geometric red and black vases from the fifth century BC Inscriptions are plentiful among the displays in the museum and a certain amount of Minoan ware is also on exhibit.
The museum also hosts impressive frescoes as well as sculptures of the Hellenistic period, Byzantine works of art and even some remains of prehistoric times.

USM-Whartscape Tapeway 2010 served as a set of paths and gateways to the last-ever Whartscape, a DIY music festival organized by art collective Whamcity. Streaks of colorful tape tracked movement and marked entry for festival participants as they walked between the Current Gallery's outdoor, alley venue and the H & H. At the entrances to the parking lot / alley space behind the Current Gallery and the Franklin Street door to the H & H building, the Tapeway enhanced festival goers anticipation as they waited in line for the music within. Between the two sites of excitement, nodes of intersection marked pedestrian movement as participants walked from one venue to the other and back.

Ernest Fedarb (1905-2005) Artist
British artist Ernest Fedarb was born in 1905 in Canterbury, Kent. He studied at Beckenham School of Art having his first exhibition when he was just 21 with the Royal Society of British Artists. Marrying a fellow artist Daphne Fedarb the pair travelled regularly to France, French landscape becoming a common theme in their work. In 1985 he was made president of the National Society of Painters, Sculptors and Printmakers. Joint exhibitions of his and Daphne's work were held at the Fine Art Society in 1932 and the Sally Hunter gallery in 1986.

The exhibits of the museum include rich collections of ship models and rowers from the early Minoan period until the beginning of the 20th century, nautical charts, historical shipping documents, rare engravings and maps as well as ancient artifacts and navigational equipment and instruments. The library of the museum consists of 5,000 rare books and an interesting archive of manuscripts and photos. The garden exhibits marble findings from Delos and Mykonos, a reference to shipwrecks and sailors who were lost at sea. For 4 euros, you will be instructed to proceed clockwise through the museum in order to see the exhibits in historical order. Everything is carefully labeled with helpful historical notes in Greek and English. The courtyard in the back is very attractive and a nice little escape from walking the charming narrow streets of Mykonos town. The Aegean Maritime Museum participates in international conferences and exhibitions, as well as in the festivities of the Hellenic Navy for the Maritime Week. It has also developed a significant publishing activity in the area of the Greek maritime history. The museum is open daily from April to October from 10:30 -- 13:00 and 18:30 -- 21:00.
