Nagina Masjid (Champaner - Gujarat - India)
(EN) Champaner is a historical city in the state of Gujarat, in western India. It is located in Panchmahal district, 47 kilometres from the city of Vadodara. The city was briefly the capital of Gujarat.
It was founded by Vanraj Chavda, the most prominent king of the Chavda Kingdom, in the 8th century. He named it after the name of his friend and general Champa, also known later as Champaraj. By the later 15th century, the Khichi Chauhan Rajputs held Pavagadh fort above the town of Champaner. The young Sultan of Gujarat, Mahmud Begada, deciding to attack Champaner, started towards it with his army on 4 December 1482. After defeating the Champaner army, Mahmud captured the town and besieged Pavagadh, the well-known hill-fortress, above Champaner, where king Jayasimha had taken refuge. He captured the Pavagadh fort on 21 November 1484, after a siege of 20 months. He then spent 23 years rebuilding and embellishing Champaner, which he renamed Muhammadabad, after which he moved the capital there from Ahmedabad. The town finally succumbed to attacks from the Mughal Emperor Humayun in 1535.
Champaner is today the site of the Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park, which UNESCO designated a World Heritage Site in 2004.
Sultan Begada also built a magnificent Jama Masjid in Champaner, which ranks amongst the finest architectural edifices in Gujarat. It is an imposing structure on a high plinth, with a central dome, two minarets 30 meters in height, 172 pillars, seven mihrabs, and carved entrance gates with fine stone jalis.
The 2001 film Lagaan is set in Champaner.

Nagina Masjid , Red Fort , Agra
Nagina Masjid is an architectural beauty in Agra Fort. It is located nearby another eye catching Masjid known as Moti Masjid. This mosque is constructed with pure white attractive marble and encloses the prayer chamber exquisitely designed.
The Nagina Masjid bears a very simple architecture and a descent decoration. The mosque is separated into three bays by simple pillars underneath the keen arches above. The arch in the center is bigger and has nine cusps, once on either face has seven cusps only. The mosque is 10.21 meter broad and 7.39 meter deep, facing a lined patio. There is a balcony presenting the panoramic views of the road that runs towards the Hathi Pol lies on the northern side of the Masjid
This beautiful structure was built for the ladies of the Royal family. This private mosque has special features of three majestic domes and wonderful arches. A luxurious bazaar, known as Mina Bazar, was functioning down the road from where royal ladies could purchase items standing in the balcony of Nagina Masjid.

The masjid is a large monument built on a high-rise plinth with a large open courtyard in front. The building was constructed of pure white stone.At the main entrance, the masjid is marked by minarets, which have intricate and elegant carvings; as in other masjids, like Kevada Masjid, it has floral designs in its niches. Three large domes rise over the main prayer hall, above decorative columns and windows. The architecture also features a series of beautifully designed projecting corbels and a projecting cornice, and is decorated with geometric motifsm both inside and outside at the platform level. The main prayer hall rises two storeys and has a balcony, nature was integrated into the Nagina mosque's architecture in a way that was unusual for the Islamic world.
Grounds:-
Within the precincts of the masjid there are a few brick structures and step wells. An elegant domed mausoleum is situated in front of the mosque to the northeast.The cenotaph has openings on all four directions; its frontage, columns and niches are decorated with carved floral and geometrical designs. The cenotaph's central dome has disappeared.

Jama Masjid in Champaner, Gujarat state, western India, is part of the Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and is among the 114 monuments there which are listed by the Baroda Heritage Trust.
Jami Masjid, also known as Jama Masjid of Champaner is located about 150 feet (46 m) east of the city walls. Dating back to the 15th century, it is widely considered as one of the finest mosques in western India.
This edifice is two storied and is a symbol of both Islamic and Hindu(specifically Gujarati) styles of architecture. Like the other mosques around the world, the Jami Masjid also has a very minutely designed entrance which is flanked by two towering octagonal minarets. Along with modern techniques of architecture, this mosque also reflects how the architects used modern techniques to cultivate rainwater harvesting systems. One of the minarets is a tad bit damaged. This is not because it has been worn out but because of an intentional gun firing in 1812 by a Scindia Governor named Patankar. The monument has some very majestic artwork on its symmetric pillars and all this has been conserved very well.
