Nakummatt closes another outlet in Tanzania
Another Nakumatt outlet has been closed, this time in neighbouring Tanzania.
Mlimani City store in Dar es Salaam has been shut down because of failing to pay rent worth millions of Shillings.
The troubled retailer has failed to pay rent totaling 300 million Tanzanian Shillings, which is equivalent to 13.8 million Kenya Shillings for the past 3 months to the landlord, Mlimani Holdings.
This comes almost a month since senior government officials from Tanzania and Kenya agreed to work together to iron out Nakumatt’s challenges.
Nakumatt is facing a number of closures due to rent arrears as proprietors seek to attach the retailer's assets to recover the billions of Shillings they are owed.

Nakumatt Yafungwa Kwa Kushindwa Kulipa Kodi ya Pango
UONGOZI wa Mlimani City umelifungia duka kubwa (Supermarket) la Nakumatt tawi la Mlimani City Jijini Dar es Salaam kutokana na kutotimiza majukumu yake kama mlipakodi wa jengo hilo hivyo kurudisha nyuma upatikanaji wa mapato.
Meneja Mkuu wa Mlimani City, Pastory Mrosso ameeleza kwamba wamechukua hatua hiyo baada ya uongozi wa Nakumatt kutotekeleza wajibu wake wa kulipa kodi kama mpangaji kwa muda mrefu.
Hatua hiyo uya kufuingiwa kwa duka hilo kumezua taharuki na mshtuko kwa wafanyakazi walioajiriwa humo kwani wengi wao wameeleza kuwa hawakuwa na tarifa zozote na bado wanadai stahiki zao.
Wafanyakazi hao walikuwa wamezongana nje ya lango kuu la kuingilia katika duka hilo wakiwa na taharuki pasipo kujua hatma yao baada ya kufungiwa kwa duka hilo.

Siku chache baada ya Supermarket za NAKUMATT kufungwa kwenye maeneo mbalimbali nchini, waliokuwa wafanyakazi wa Supermarket hiyo January 15 2018 wamefika kwa Mkuu wa Mkoa wa Dar es salaam, Paul Makonda ili kufikisha malalamiko yao ya kukosa mishahara kwa takribani miezi mitatu lakini hawakufanikiwa kukutana na RC Makonda.
Nje ya ofisi hizo za Mkuu wa Mkoa wamepata nafasi ya kuzungumza na AyoTV kuhusu malalamiko yao.
