* There are several over 100 kg stones in the garden of Ichinomiya Shrine in Kagoshima City.
* It is said that men enjoyed competing with each other by lifting up these stones during Taisho and early Showa periods.

Yanagimori Shrine
Yanagimori Jinja (Willow Forest Shrine) is a small Shinto Shrine in Chiyoda Ward beside the Kanda River just a couple of minutes from Akihabara.
The Yanagimori Shrine features numerous statues of Tanuki (Raccoon Dog) who in Japanese folklore is a whimsical supernatural being with shape-shifting abilities. Its most prominent feature is its huge bulging scrotum and belly.
Yanagimori Shrine, founded in 1457 was not always a Tanuki Shrine, it began as an Inari Shrine featuring the fox. Nowadays Yanagimori Shrine is home to no less than six Shrines and the Chikara-ishi (strength stones) which were said to have been used by Sumo Wrestlers to test their strength at the beginning of the 20th century. #shiawasetravels #japan
