JAPANTRIP 「National Showa Memorial Museum」Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo【昭和館】
Showakan is a national memorial museum to commemorate Japanese suffering during and after World War II and to pass on this historical commemoration to later generations. The museum collects, preserves and exhibits historical documents on the life hardships suffered by the Japanese people, especially by the families of the war victims , both during and after the war (in the years of 1935 to 1955), providing younger people with an opportunity to learn about this era in Japans history. Up to the present date, the museum has collected approximately 18,000 items, including letters, clothes and daily commodities, and displays about 800 of them.'
Yasukuni Shrine and War Memorial Museum in Tokyo, Japan
It was initially created by Emperor Meiji to commemorate any individuals who had died in service of the Empire of Japan during the Meiji Restoration.

Top Cherry Blossoms Spot in Tokyo : Imperial Palace & Chidorigafuchi Park | Japan Travel EP #7
Chidorigafuchi's path is the most scenic spot around the moat, with a 700-meter-long tunnel of cherry trees in the spring /Sakura/Hanami season. The pathway is a five-minute walk from Kudanshita Station or Hanzomon Station.
Cherry blossoms reflecting on the Imperial Palace moat
From around the end of March to early April, the walkways around the moat are tinted pink by hundreds of cherry trees. The Chiyoda Sakura Festival is held at the same time, so for the duration of the cherry blossom season the trees are lit up at night. This magical sight draws Tokyoites and visitors alike. Enjoy an evening walk under the glowing tunnel of flowers.
Boats in the moat during sakura season
Later in the season the surface of the moat is almost completely covered in petals, creating the illusion of an ethereal pink river.
Around Chidorigafuchi
Nearby sights include Yasukuni-jinja Shrine, which is also a good spot to see cherry blossoms and autumn leaves, as well as the National Showa Memorial Museum , Nippon Budokan and Jimbocho, the bookseller's district.

Four exciting museums surrounded by beautiful autumn leaves at Kitanomaru Park!
In Japan, fall is called art fall. This is due to the moderate climate (compared to the hot summer). Countless art festivals and painting exhibitions are concentrated in autumn - the perfect season to visit a museum.
There are four museums with completely different line-ups in the Kitanomaru Park with its splendid autumn leaves.
When visiting Tokyo from late November to early December, don't miss this area!
◆ ◆ ◆
◆ ◆ The National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo
The National Museum of Modern Art (MOMAT) was the first national art museum in Japan. The museum owns a collection of contemporary artworks from the Meiji Era (1868 - 1912) to the present. Japan was a closed country until the beginning of the Meiji era, but after Japan opened to the West, many young Japanese artists went abroad to study art in Europe. The Japanese painting style mixed with the influences of foreign art is very unique and interesting!
◆ ◆ Science Museum
The Science Museum is one big playground. The building has 5 fully packed floors where you can dive into science and learn something new. The exhibition is designed for all ages - from children to adults. It's a great place to deepen your understanding of science while playing or watching some live experiments in the lab.
◆ ◆ National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo - Crafts Gallery
The Crafts Gallery owns a huge collection consisting of numerous Japanese ceramics, glassware, lacquerware, dyed fabrics and graphic design lined up from the Meiji Era (1868-1912) to the present age. Pieces from the collection are shown in unique theme exhibitions. Also, the Crafts Gallery is designated as an important cultural asset.
◆ ◆ National Archives of Japan
Opened in 1971, the National Archives of Japan is the place where Japanese historical materials and important official documents are preserved. Since you can also visit the facility, please stop by and visit the permanent exhibitions and special exhibitions. It's a recommended facility not only for those who want to know more about Japanese history but also for researchers!

Tokyo Memorial Temple for Two Great Disasters, Yokoamichou Park
The Tokyo Memorial Temple for Two Great Disasters was built in 1930 to enshrine the remains of about 58.000 victims of the Great Kanto Earthquake. Afterwards the remains of some of the victims of the Great Tokyo Air Raid were also enshrined here. Now there are about 163.000 remains in the hall. The Temple stands here to remembre the victims of the above disasters and to pray that this occurence will never happen again. In March 2016 the full restore of the Temple has been completed.

Imperial Palace & East Garden | TOP TOKYO JAPAN CITY TRAVEL GUIDE | VISIT ATTRACTIONS | 皇居 | PART 4
The Tokyo Imperial Palace (皇居 Kōkyo?, literally Imperial Residence) is the primary residence of the Emperor of Japan. It is a large park-like area located in the Chiyoda ward of Tokyo and contains buildings including the main palace (宮殿 Kyūden?), the private residences of the Imperial Family, an archive, museums and administrative offices.
It is built on the site of the old Edo Castle. The total area including the gardens is 3.41 square kilometres (1.32 sq mi). During the height of the 1980s Japanese property bubble, the palace grounds were valued by some to be more than the value of all of the real estate in the state of California.

Tokyo Travel Guide - Japanese Adventure
Tokyo Travel Guide - Japanese Adventure
Tokyo is Japan capital and the core of the most populated urban area in the world, Tokyo Metropolis (which has a population of over 37 million people). This huge, wealthy and fascinating metropolis brings high-tech visions of the future side by side with glimpses of old Japan, and has something for everyone.
Huge and varied in its geography, Tokyo Metropolis, spans not just the city, but rugged mountains to the west and subtropical islands to the south. Here are Districts of Tokyo:
Central Tokyo which includes:
Chiyoda (Akihabara)
Chuo (Ginza)
Meguro (Jiyugaoka)
Minato (Akasaka, Shinbashi, Roppongi, Odaiba, Shiodome)
Shibuya (Harajuku, Ebisu)
Shinagawa (Gotanda)
Shinjuku
Toshima (Ikebukuro)
Old Tokyo (Shitamachi) which includes:
Arakawa
Bunkyo
Koto
Sumida (Ryogoku)
Taito (Asakusa, Ueno)
Tokyo suburbs which include:
East Tokyo that includes:
Many suburban wards, including Adachi, where one can visit one of Kanto's Three Great Temples: Nishi-arai Daishi, Katsushika, known for the charming Showa-era atmosphere of Shibamata and Edogawa, a quiet eastern suburb.
North Tokyo:
Includes the suburban wards of Kita, Itabashi and the quieter northern Nerima
Nakano
Ota
Setagaya
Suginami
Over 500 years old, the city of Tokyo grew from the modest fishing village of Edo (江戸). The city only truly began to grow when it became the seat of the Tokugawa shogunate in 1603. While the emperor ruled in name from Kyoto, the true power was concentrated in the hands of the Tokugawa shogun in Edo. After the Meiji restoration in 1868, during which the Tokugawa family lost its influence, the emperor and the imperial family moved here from Kyoto, and the city was re-named to its current name, Tokyo. The metropolitan center of the country, Tokyo is the destination for business, education, modern culture, and government.
Tokyo is classified as lying in the humid subtropical climate zone and has four distinct seasons. Summers are usually hot and humid with a temperature range of about 20-30°C (68-86°F), though it can sometimes climb into the high thirties. Winters are usually mild, with temperatures generally ranging from 0-10°C (32-50°F), though occasional cold spells can send temperatures plummeting below zero at night. Snow is rare, but on those rare occasions (once every few years) when Tokyo is hit by a snowstorm, much of the train network grinds to a halt. The famous cherry blossoms bloom in March-April and parks, most famously Ueno, fill up with blue tarps and sozzled salarymen.
Tokyo has a vast array of sights, but the first items on the agenda of most visitors are the temples of Asakusa, the gardens of the Imperial Palace (in Chiyoda) and the Meiji Shrine (明治神宮, in Harajuku). Tokyo has many commercial centres for shopping, eating and simply wandering around for experiencing the modern Japanese urban phenomenon. Each of these areas have unique characteristics, such as dazzling Shinjuku, youthful Shibuya and upmarket Ginza. These areas are bustling throughout the day, but they really come into life in the evenings. A lot to see in Tokyo such as:

Vlog 13 - Showa Day Hike
My first holiday in Japan. I think I spent it well admiring my town. Cheers to more short and fun adventures like this one. So much to see in Japan, don't stay inside all the time. Frolick
Note to self: I am not to ever go hiking alone. Take a partner and bug spray. Don't forget the bug spray
