Baseball's Bill Spaceman Lee visits the National Water Centre in New Brunswick, Canada
Featuring: Bill Spaceman Lee, Major League Baseball pitcher, Boston Red Sox record-holder and former Montreal Expo.
At the National Water Centre, interesting people from all walks of life come together to talk about leadership and our common passion: water.
Three legends of sport came to the Centre in August, 2015. Baseball star Bill “The Spaceman” Lee, hockey hall of famer Steve Shutt, and boxing pioneer Savoy Howe. Their host was musician and writer Dave Bidini.
None had spent time with Waterkeeper before, but they spent three incredible days sharing stories about success, struggle, leadership, and (of course) their favourite waterbodies.
We’re making a highlights video from the weekend to share the event with you and to explain how (and why) everyone can be a water leader.
In the meantime, we’re sharing these informal one-on-ones with the athletes and Krystyn Tully, one of the founders of the Centre. Hear them tell their story in their own words. Be sure to listen for the names of their favourite bodies of water.
The National Water Centre 2015 Summit Series was supported by the RBC Blue Water Project. Thank you.
Water Leadership
When you turn on a tap, do you ever wonder who is making sure the water is safe to drink? When you visit a beach, do you think about the people who work to keep the water swimmable (or who work to clean it up)? If you wonder about swimming, drinking water, or fish and wildlife, then you are already a kind of water leader.
