Fay Porter Exhibitions: Exploration: A Retrospective
In 2015, Uralla artist Fay Porter was represented at the New England Regional Art Museum in Armidale, NSW, Australia with a retrospective of her work, spanning several decades.
Fay is an internationally collected artist who works in different mediums, exploring themes that are meaningful to her at that time.
This video allows Fay to talk about all the works represented at the exhibition whilst walking around the gallery. She provides insight into what motivated her to do each work individually, what challenges she met in expressing that motivation, the construction of the piece and the effect that piece has had on her body of work overall as well as to her personally and sometimes to the purchaser.
This video gives a very rare insight into what may be an artist's thought processes when creating a visual, when expressing an idea and when evaluating the finished effect.

Benjamin Thorn 'You Can Take A Frock To market'
During History Week 2012, Benjamin Thorn spoke at the Tweed Heads Regional Library.
This talk looks at clothing advertising from the 1950s, particularly in regional NSW. We look at the links between distributors and retailers and at the images that were used to promote Australian and overseas brands. Much of the talk will concentrate on the technical aspects of creating advertising images and will include unpublished oral history material from workers in the printing and advertising industries.
Benjamin Thorn is curator of the Museum of Printing in Armidale.
Brought to you by the History Council of NSW as part of the History Week 2012 Speaker Connect program in partnership with the Royal Australian Historical Society and proudly supported by the Copyright Agency Limited and the Your Community Heritage Program.

Interview with Kerry Lester and Robyn Berkeley
Kerrie Lester
1953 -
Kerrie Lester was born in 1953 in Sydney and has lived and worked from her Mosman studio since 1989. Lester is renowned for her distinctive stitched canvas paintings, offering a unique perspective of her immediate environment and surroundings - artworks poised between painting, drawing, sculpture and weaving.
With an art career that has been meteoric, Lester has held over 21 solo exhibitions spanning over a thirty year period, her first held immediately after graduating from art school. In conjunction, Lester has been represented in many important group exhibitions including the Biennale of Sydney in 1979 and Australian Perspecta in 1981 and 1985.
Lester has been a finalist for fourteen consecutive years for the prestigious Archibald Competition and winning the Packer's Prize in 1979, as well as receiving a number of major art awards and commissions. Her work is represented in many public, corporate and private art collections across Australia.
In addition, Kerrie has been an influential educator, lecturing at the City Art Institute Sydney, the National Art School Sydney and Seaforth Technical College.
