Mission Nicaragua: Investigation to hummingbirds and butterflies
Once upon a time there were three young Biology students who arrived in Nicaragua. They went to do a research in the nature reserve Laguna de Apoyo. This movie tells the story about their research and shows moviefragments about the project.
Due to technilogical problems the movie could not be supplied with a soothing voice, but subtitels will do fine I hope.
Camera used: Nikon Coolpix S8200
Songs used: look at the outro, around 8:00.

Nicaragua Birds and butterflies part 1
We visited Nicaragua in 2011 in december. The temperature was fine but some days the wind was very (too) strong. In the mountains we got cold wheather with mist and rain (a part not included in this video). Finally we explored only a very small part of the country, west coast of the mountains.
video recorded inHDV.
Nicaragua Outdoor Activities - Careli Tours Nicaragua
Masaya Volcano - is in the province of Masaya. Masaya Volcano National park elevation is 635 meters above sea level measured from the extinct cone of San Fernando where views of the lake valley are priceless. Mombacho Volcano is a natural reserve founded in 1999 .The Mombacho Volcano is an evergreen tropical cloud forest characterized by a high incidence of low-level cloud cover You can hike at Mombacho Volcano and do the Mombacho canopy tour. Cerro Negro Volcano - is in the province of León and located in the middle of the impressive Maribios Volcano Range. At just 450 meters, little and very active Cerro Negro deceives those who underestimate it ferocity.
Nicaragua is becoming a better known as the surfing destination, yet still has much smaller crowds compared to Costa Rica and Mexico. Due to the Lake Nicaragua effect, the wind blows offshore here 330 days per year!! With solid S swells and some of the best points, rock reefs and sandbars in Central America this is a recipe for perfection. Surfing in Nicaragua remains optimal all day long, with the tides being your main deciding factor of when to paddle out. The best time for surfing in Nicaragua is April thru early December, which is when the most south swells hit Nicaragua's Pacific coast.

The main attraction of this tour is the impressive Nicaragua Lake, a fresh water lake over 8,600 km2 in size. The lake was often referred to as the “Sweet Sea” by the Spanish visitors of centuries passed. This lake is the second largest in Latin America, and the only place in the world where fresh water sharks are found. There are also many islands, including Solentiname, Ometepe and Zapatera, 400 islets, and 2 volcanoes.

Nicaragua Travel Vlog 2: Nature Tour in Montibelli Reserve Nicaragua
This video is about my nature and birdwatching tour in which we went hiking at Reserva Montibelli in Nicaragua, less than an hour drive away from Managua. It is one of the best places in Nicaragua in my opinion, and you will get the best of Nicaragua wildlife, Nicaragua birdwatching, and neotropical birds. We saw all kinds of beautiful tropical birds, including toucans, a motmot, parrots, hummingbirds, and trogons, along with some other cool wildlife.
In this video I hope to educate you about some interesting things you may see on a walk through a tropical forest and show you what birdwatching in an exotic tropical location like Nicaragua is really like. It was a great start to a week full of all kinds of adventures, and a good way to healthily immerse myself in nature before the partying started.
Montibelli has a network of trails that passes through mature seasonal dry tropical forest and farms of coffee and dragonfruit. There's beautiful views in which you can see volcano Masaya in the distance.
The tour company that organized the tour is called Duran Tours. Here is a link to their Website:
Alejandro Cesar Lee was the head nature guide. He is a great guy, speaks English very well, and is an expert of the natural history of Nicaragua. He is also an elite birder and excellent at pointing out birds. I highly recommend him! The E-Bird species list of our bird walk that morning is found in this link:

Toucans at Kahka Creek Rainforest Preserve in Nicaragua
Keel-billed and Chestnut-mandibled toucans are among the most beautiful birds in the rainforest. Although they are similar in shape and size, their voices are very different.

Located on the most central location of Nicaragua, only 10 km north of Granada and 8km west of Masaya, with the view on a pristine gorgeous Crater lake.
Unique is that our eco resort is located in the middle of the Laguna Apoyo Natural Reserve in the crater mouth, it is their where we are the Guests of the white face and Howler monkeys that live in this Tropical Forest Eco System surrounding our resort. The Reserve is managed by the Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources (MARENA) and it is unique that we have our resort in the middle of this Reserve but it means also that we took the highest responsibility to live in symbioses with nature in and around our Eco Nature Resort.
The Crater lake and the forest have unique animals you will find nowhere else ( link to special page with nature info, taken from Wikipedia), 500 species of plants and tropical dry trees, over 200 species of birds have been documented in the reserve and 220 species of butterflies and there are many reptiles and mammals, like Pacas, Squirrels, Opposums and wild cats like Jaguarund and Parrots etc.
Nicaragua initiated many years ago protection laws for unique natural areas and the Laguna de Apoyo is one of them and so rare, you will not find a comparable Nature Reserve and Eco Lodge resort in Latin America.
The Laguna Beach Club at Laguna de Apoyo is a place to relax, to reconnect with nature, with yourself, with your loved ones. It will reconnect you with nature as it should be, “living in open air ”, windows open, as it is very safe here in our protected nature reserve.
Nicaragua 2017 Ometepe Part 1
Part one of day trip with our good friend and guide Walter to take the Ferry Che Guevara, for an early morning ride across Lake Nicaragua to the remote and volcanic island of Ometepe. We visited Chuco Verde a bio-reserve with a wonderful butterfly sanctuary and experienced a wonderful wild encounter with a troop of Howler Monkees.
The Great Monarch Migration
The greatest migration on Earth sends tens of millions of butterflies from all over North America down to this small forest in Mexico. Seeing this overwintering site of the monarch butterfly in real life is even more miraculous than you can imagine.
