This time we visit Niesen, the impressive pyramid mountain overlooking Lake Thun in the Bernese Alps. We take the funicular which has been constructed at the beginning of the 20th century. There are certain days in summer when you can visit the mountain top in the evenings and enjoy gorgeous sunsets.

The Mount Niesen is a mountain peak of the Bernese Alps in the Canton of Bern, Switzerland. The summit of the mountain is 2,362 meters in elevation.

The Niesen is a mountain peak of the Bernese Alps in the Canton of Bern, Switzerland. The summit of the mountain is 2,362 meters (7,749 ft) in elevation.
It overlooks Lake Thun, in the Bernese Oberland region, and forms the northern end of a ridge that stretches north from the Albristhorn and Mannliflue, separating the Simmental and Kandertal valleys.
The Niesen Funicular is a funicular railway in the canton of Bern, Switzerland. It links a lower terminus, in the village of Mülenen and adjacent to Mülenen station on the Lötschberg railway line, with an upper terminus at the summit of the Niesen. The line is owned and operated by the Niesenbahn AG.

Op zaterdag 4 juni 2016 deed ik voor de 3e keer mee aan de Niesenlauf. In 2014 liep ik er 2:11:54 over, in 2015 1:42:12 en in 2016 1:32:13. Tot volgend jaar! Heb me alweer ingeschreven voor 2017. :)
