Norman Lindsay Gallery
The Norman Lindsay Gallery, located in Faulconbridge, NSW is a Blue Mountains attraction that is a must see. In the early 1900's Norman Lindsay was a well known painter of nude Rubenesque women, frolicking parties and an assortment of subjects. He was also a sculptor and had an uncanny ability to build amasing ship models. These and other Norman Lindsay items are on display at the National Trust operated estate.
The grounds are spectacular. Many of Norman Lindsay's sculptures decorate the vast estate grounds. While there, you can enter his studio where most of his work was done. Additionally, there is separate building with his etching studio and a display of his child book characters from The Magic Pudding.
Before leaving, be sure to look at the gallery shop as they offer original works, prints and other collectibles.
If you get hungry there is a lovely cafe that serves refreshments and meals.

Norman Lindsay: A collection of 75 paintings (HD)
Description: A man of myriad talents, Norman Lindsay was an Australian artist, etcher, sculptor, writer, illustrator, scale modeler, and amateur boxer. Dismissed by critics many times for his controversial subjects, he is now regarded as one of Australia's greatest artists. His works span numerous media that include pen drawings, etching, oil paintings, woodcuts, sculptures, editorials, and publishing. His affinity for the arts began to take shape at a very young age and his interests grew with him. He gained a more formal training and better experience to churn out works of incredible depth and technical prowess. His tremendous creative energy enabled him to work on multiple projects at a time. Through his work, he challenged many societal norms and invited the ire of many critics leading to many of his works being banned. Despite this, he was the highest paid Australian artist of the time. His literary works such as ‘Age of Consent’, ‘Halfway to Anywhere’, and ‘Dust or Polish’ have been adapted to the silver screen. Lindsay was not the only member of his family to dabble in the arts. His brothers, Percy, Lionel, and Ernest, sister Ruby, sons, Jack, Philip, and Raymond were all involved in the arts and inspired each other’s works.

The Secret Life of Norman Lindsay: Hidden Homosexual Images in Norman Lindsay's Art
An analysis of Norman Lindsay's art shows that his voluptuous women and siren's are in fact representations of a repressed homosexual urge. This is supported by the misogyny throughout his writings. I draw upon the book Siren and Satyr - The Personal Philosophy of Norman Lindsay to illustrate the homosexual themes in his art.
